You are severely missing out.

Missing out would assume that I have not played those gods. I've actually played them a good amount of times, but I just don't like them as much as other gods. I generally don't enjoy playing warriors, with the exception of Hercules because I love his pull + push combo. Neith is ok, but I just think she's boring to play. Aphrodite is strong but I don't like the feel of her kit. And Hel is good but too difficult to play effectively. I don't play Smite seriously or consistently enough to stay sharp with her.
 
I'm debating between pushing to 40 mastery (I'm currently at 33) or focusing on a selection of my favorite gods to play since I don't play ranked anyway.

The upside of pushing to 40 mastery is that it's always good to be more well-rounded. And you get a nice new icon to show off. The downside is that most of the remaining gods I have left to master are ones that I don't particularly like (there's a reason I saved them for last). Vamana, Hel, Odin, Aphrodite, Neith... there are several gods of each class that I would rather play than any of those.

The upside to focusing on the gods I enjoy is, obviously, that I will have more fun playing them. And I will (hopefully) be able to fine-tune my skills with their particular kits. I enjoy a good amount of gods, but if I were to focus I'd have to pick my favorite of each class. I already know my favorite assassin (Mercury), warrior (Hercules), support guardian (Sylvanus), and damage guardian (Cabrakan). My favorite hunter is either Xbalanque or Artemis; Artemis hits like a truck and has a great steroid, while Xbal is more mobile and less prone to getting picked off. My favorite class is mage, so that's a little harder to choose. I'd say it comes down to Isis or Scylla; Scylla does huge damage and has a reliable escape, while Isis has better utility and still does great damage, and has better early wave clear. Tough choices.

I have maximum mastery, and well, I do it because that way I have more fun. Just more variety to the experience.

Hahaha sorry but that webm is hilarious. I can't talk shit though, there's plenty of idiotic things I've done that are probably floating around on some forum out there with someone complaining about me.

But I feel your pain. This morning I played an Arena match as Sylvanus. Playing support can be such a horrible experience. I was doing my job as the front-line guardian by rooting, pulling, ulting at least 2-3 enemies at a time... but my teammates never followed up. We had a goddamn Scylla, Loki, and AMC, and they couldn't burst down an enemy that I rooted/pulled. Or, I guess I should say that they wouldn't. They would just run away as soon as a teamfight started, and leave my ass hanging in the breeze. There isn't shit you can do as a support when the teammates you're supporting don't deliver. Also, Cabrakan shits all over Sylvanus. I couldn't do anything when he used Tremors if my ult and pull were on CD.

Also leaping after a hades under the tower who hasn't used his ult. We also had an Agni who only seemed to use his dash to chase after enemies.

The benefit of mastering every god (even the ones you hate) is that you learn their playstyle and this is helpful for countering when playing against them.

I also found it keeps the game fresh for me. I think this is why assault is one of my favorite playtypes.

And man, people judge the shit out of Hel more than any another god. I got solely blamed for a loss the other day because I didn't heal enough. It's never enough. People expect you to have 0 cooldown and to always be in light stance at the perfect time, every time. God forbid I was in the middle of clearing a minion wave, or attacking someone — no, I should have been right next to you in light stance the whole game. I can't think of any other god who serves as a better flame magnet.

I was Janus. He was talking of the 3, that ability that slows the enemy and buff the speed of allies. LOL.

I got 5500 favor and decided to buy Zhong Kui. He's really fun but man it can be frustrating in Arena when your teammates keep clearing the minions! Please let your Zhong get his stacks from the minions before you nuke them. You'd think people would enjoy having a dedicated minion clearer on their team. I love it because it means I can focus my spells on enemy gods instead.

I have been having insufferable players, Kulk needs help @ start to get the Mana buff, they completely ignore my pleases and begging and just run Rambo into enemy side and get killed. also played 2 games with the same team mate who goes afk mid field and gets slaughtered.. and just sits back and watches us fight the enemy.

There has always been and will continue to be regardless.

But but Pewdiepie is the WORST!

Its true we get a influx of bad players, some will never go away and it will never stop... we should take the opportunity to teach them how to play, but if they just run off to get killed and do not respond to you its simply sucks...

I can't get into Rama no matter how much I try. He just doesn't play like any of the other ADCs and it's not fun. It's like playing a floaty Megaman game, it doesn't click for me.

Hopefully Hou Yi will be more like the rest, lol.

God why am I so bad with Hercules? He seems easy enough. You combo 2-1-4 and if you get into trouble, press your 3 but I never do well with this guy. I see people just dominate with him but everytime I play him, i either to ok or terrible. I don't have this problem with any other warrior besides him. I even do ok with swk.

Are you making sure to hit 3 right BEFORE you get into trouble and not in the middle of it or after already taking big damage? Cuz that's important.

Yeah make sure you don't pop your Mitigate Wounds while not taking damage, or after the damage has already been done.

I STILL see people (these are level 30 people, sometimes they've even mastered Herc) pop Herc's 3 while not getting hit at all.

It's a waste of mana and you barely receive any hp back at all.
 
Ugh, do you need to make a new account to help someone learn the game? I swear every team we face together is so try hard in both arena and conquest. Is matchmaking based on highest ranked player?

If you're level 30 and your friend is level 1 or anything lower than 30 you're still liable to fight other level 30's.

Which is horrible matchmaking....the difference between people levels 1-20 and then 30 is pretty huge.

A MIGHTY SWORD!

New God: Ao Kuang

King’s Sword - Passive
Ao Kuang's sword can hold up to 3 Energy Charges, and regenerates charges while out of combat. Each time Ao Kuang casts an ability, an energy charge will be consumed if available, increasing the damage of the ability by 5%. If Ao Kuang is out of mana, he will use Energy Charges to cast abilities instead.

Water Illusion
Ao Kuang teleports forward into stealth, leaving behind a watery form of himself. He remains in stealth for 5s or until he attacks or takes damage. Ao Kuang may activate this ability again to detonate the watery form, dealing 90/140/190/240/290 +70% of his Magical Power as damage to nearby enemies. Cost: 70. Cooldown: 15s.

Dragon Call
Ao Kuang summons 6 dragons to his side. For every successful basic attack Ao Kuang makes, a dragon will dive to the target dealing 40/60/80/100/120 +30% of his Magical Power as damage. This ability ends after all dragons are used, or after 10s. Ao Kuang may activate this ability again to send forward any remaining dragons in a ranged attack, dealing 50% damage per dragon and Slowing 30% for 1s the first enemy hit. The slow duration increases +.25s for each remaining dragon that was sent forward. Cost: 60/65/70/75/80. Cooldown: 15/14/13/12/11s.

Wild Storm
Ao Kuang unleashes a storm of lightning from his sword, damaging all enemies in front of him for 90/140/190/240/290 + 50% of his Magical Power. This hit is considered a basic attack, and will activate item effects and send forth dragons from Dragon Call. Cost: 60/65/70/75/80. Cooldown: 5s.

King of the Eastern Seas
Ao Kuang selects a single target in melee range and grabs them, dealing 90/140/190/240/290 +50% of his Magical Power as damage and knocking them up into the air. If the target is under a health threshold of 23/26/29/32/35%, Ao Kuang will instead reveal his true form, becoming a Dragon and executing them. After transforming Ao Kuang remains in the air, and may then pick a new location to land, dealing 100/150/200/250/300 +50% of his Magical Power as damage to enemies within range 20, and fully recharging King’s Sword. Cost: 90/100/110/120/130. Cooldown: 90s.

A new system has been implemented for Friend Referrals that adds numerous rewards and benefits for you and your friends! You can link a new Account to a reffering friend via our new in-game interfrace, during account creation, or on the www.smitegame.com website. Once you link your account to a friend the following rewards and goals will be available, and can be tracked using the new friend referral menu:

Milestone Rewards: These rewards are granted to a Referring player as each friend they refer reaches level 15!

  • 1 Friend: 1000 Favor

All gods with a Leap, Dash, or Teleport have had their tooltips updated to clearly state which movement type the ability is.

Midgardian Mail — Fixed an issue where removing the slow effect would also remove the Attack Speed reduction.

Arachne
  • Night Crawler — Fixed a tooltip description error where it stated her duration on web was 7s instead of 5s.

Bakasura
  • Regurgitate — Fixed an issue where removing or becoming immune to the slow would also remove the cripple effect of this ability.

Cupid
“Cupid has been performing fairly well in comparison to other Hunters but the long animation on his ultimate meant that he was being interrupted more often than he should. While a small adjustment, this change is to help Cupid land his ultimate more reliably.”
  • Fields of Love — Casting time reduced from 0.5s to 0.3s.

Chronos
“While Chronos is designed as a late game magical carry, his early game tends to be a bit too weak in comparison to other Mages. Both of these changes are designed to help him in the early part of the game, and we think the adjustment to Wheel of Time will also increase the enjoyment and clarity of using that Section.”
  • Wheel of Time — Section II Mana refund increased from 75% to 100%.
  • Accelerate — Mana cost reduced from 70/75/80/85/90 to 60/65/70/75/80.

Freya
“Freya is designed to be a late game single target burst Mage. She accomplishes this in many ways, but due to her hyper late game carry potential we felt the number of hits she could confirm on targets falling from banish should be addressed. By decreasing how long it takes to fall after banish ends, we’ve reduced the number of shots the target takes before they regain control. This is a fairly substantial adjustment to Freya, and one we’ll be watching closely going forward.”
  • Banish — Increased the rate enemies fall back to the ground after being banished

Hercules
  • Earthbreaker — Fixed a bug that created strange interactions with this ability and other knockbacks.

Isis
  • Dispel Magic — Updated tooltip for clarity.

Nu Wa
“We are happy with Nu Wa’s playstyle but she is slightly over tooled for damage given all that she brings to a team. These adjustments are intended to bring her a bit more in line.”
  • Shining Metal — Base damage reduced from 90/140/190/240/290 to 90/130/170/210/250.
  • Fire Shards — Magical Damage Scaling reduced from 40% to 30%.

Mercury
“Similar to Freya, Mercury is a hyper late game carry that could confirm several hits on targets thrown by Special Delivery. We’ve adjusted how high targets are thrown, while not affecting the distance they are thrown, as a way to reduce the number of confirmed hits without affecting his ability to displace targets. Like Freya’s adjustment, this is a fairly substantial change, and we’ll be watching it closely and adjusting as needed.”
  • Special Delivery — Decreased the amount of time thrown targets are airborne when tossed from special delivery. This does not affect the distance thrown.

Rama
  • Astral Strike — Fixed an issue where Astral Strike could be disabled during Astral Barrage.

Serqet
“Serqet is one of our most mobile goddesses and we are very happy with the way her timings have worked out and the way she feels in play. Her damage potential on Deathbane was a bit too high, and we’ve brought it down to bring her in line with other Assassins.”
  • Deathbane — Physical Power Scaling reduced from 50% to 45% per hit. Physical Protection Reduction reduced from 20% to 15% for 3s.

Sylvanus
  • Verdant Growth — Fixed an issue where this ability was not contributing to lifesteal correctly.
  • Wisps — Fixed an issue where this ability was not contributing to lifesteal correctly.

Ullr
  • Fixed an issue which caused his stance change to be awkwardly interrupted by a stun.

A bit like a game I had the other day. My friend was playing Serqet, he was wrecking shit up and after the game one of the enemies said Serqet is just OP and is an easy win.

We search for a new game and what do we see, the same player but now he is playing Serqet. He went 1-12 and left as soon as possible when we got to the lobby after the game.

People talk a lot of shit, but they don't got the skills to back them up.

My initial impressions are not great. My main issue being the lack of Y-axis aiming. It really feels limiting, to have an OTS 3rd person perspective and yet I'm still really only firing on a 2D plane, with the exception of certain abilities, such as Thor's ult. It makes the game feel flat, both figuratively and literally.

This game makes me wish I could go back to a game like SMNC, which used the same point of view but fully took advantage of the 3D space. IMO, the play control felt much better compared to Smite.

That said, I'm still going to keep playing until it either clicks with me or I burn out on it. Dota2 has been lagging so severely that it's become unplayable lately, so I'm in need of a new MOBA fix.

I think Y-axis aiming would add too much unnecessary complexity. I can't imagine what it would add to it since it's not a shooter. A lot of the characters are melee focused. I think it does enough and is unique enough with it's perspective that it justifies it's use. Hell, just having direct WASD control is the main reason I like it over other MOBAs and that wouldn't work nearly as well if it wasn't in 3rd person.

Hahaha. I love it when they quickly bounce out of the post-game lobby. Really gives you the image of them running away with their tail between their legs.

The ones who I notice more are people who play "pub stomping" gods like thanatos or anubis then start to rage at the team and disconnect when the game isn't going perfectly for them.

I've seen a lot of people already crying for Ao Kuang nerfs lol. He is definitely really strong, and that goddamn invisibility + teleport spell is a menace. I played against AK as Neith and he can teleport out of her root. I played against AK as Odin and he can teleport out of his ult. It makes him pretty slippery and you always have to be paying attention to him, kinda like Loki. And just like Loki, if you catch him while his escape is on CD and/or if you stun/silence him, he melts like hot butter. I think he's high-tier, but not OP. Sure he gets a lot of kills, but he also racks up a lot of deaths as well. He seems to shine in mid-game.

Well I wouldn't go that far, but yeah lifesteal on Anubis is beast.

Mythical mail will ensure that he can never be invisible around you. Tanks (and the solo lane depending) should be getting this against him to counter and any type of CC immunity (beads, magi, aegis) completely shuts down his ult.

He's a frontline mage, so it's really easy for a ADC to just target him down. So his teamfight effectiveness kind of drops as the game goes on since he has to put himself at such risk. The dude can still burst down an objective though.

I wouldn't place him as high-teir, but he can most likely blow up pubs and those people will cry for nerfs.
