So 3D is some sort of scam on consumers, right?

You try COD?

It's decent, not jaw dropping, but sometimes certain things on maps look so fucking weird on it

Like the boat in the middle of the road really standout, your like Holy Shit there's a boat on the street, usually you pass it by not minding or paying attention
(I think it's called Overflow)

I haven't, I really wanted to! I downloaded the BLOPs demo, but it won't let me play in 3D from there :/

I did try Halo 1 anniversary in 3D, I turned it off pretty quickly though. There was a lot of ghosting when I tried it out.

I honestly don't know what to think about this thread.

You bought a budget monitor and you ended up not being floored with 3D? On the few games and one movie that you watched?

Oh I did see the pilotwings demo on 3DS when it first came out. I could see that but I don't think I ever turned the 3D off to compare lol
You really shouldn't have to turn it off to compare, it's pretty damn obvious when 3D is on. Something must be up with your eyes because the effect should be pretty damn noticeable, if you set everything up correctly and the only difference you notice is a game being "more shiny" I don't see any other option.

So I tried out a 3DTV demo unit at are store today. Besides it being blurry without the glasses, nothing "popped out" to me. I guess I can't perceive the effect :(

I'd also like to add one more thing. Generally speaking, 3D doesn't make things pop out at you. The effect is typically used to create separation from the foreground and background elements. If you are expecting a hologram-like effect where it feels as though the object on screen is directly in front of you, prepare for disappointment.

Jaws 19 is a lie.

You might have a stereo vision problem. Nice link here on the topic: http://www.vision3d.com/whycant.html

This has nothing at all to do with visual acuity (20/20 vision).

Huh... according to this test, I have a binocular vision problem: http://www.vision3d.com/frame.html
When I focus on my thumb, I see two circles on each side of my thumb, but when I focus on the circle, I only see a single thumb. Is anyone here able to see two thumbs at once with this vision test while only holding a single thumb in front of the circle?

Sounds like that's the case. Live and learn.

There's different applications of 3D. Things popping out is definitely one of them, though not really the most pleasant in all cases.

I can vaguely see the second thumb. My vision isn't perfect by any means though, especially close up.
