So, can we all agree that Frostbite 3 is the best engine this gen?

I mean. Games look incredible and are able to run at high framerates even in those gimpy ass console CPUs.

SWBF is still amazing and runs like butter (or almost) on PS4 and XBO (yeah, 900p and 720p) and the second game is coming looking even better.

NFS Rivals and BF4 right at launch with good graphics and performance.

Frostbite is the best performing multi-platform engine in the right hands.

Unreal Engine 4 console optimisation is nowhere near as good as Frostbite magic on console

The way it can achieve such visuals at 60fps on that CPU with lots of things going on at once is great

After reading the Kotaku article on Andromeda's development, I'm not so sure. It's a gorgeous engine, but also one that was not originally conceived with many different types of games in mind.

I am excited to see what developers do with Decima, more than Frostbite.

Playing Horizon: ZD on an OG PS4 is kind of crazy.

It's pretty ridiculous (in a good way) when used for its intended purposes. It's pretty ridiculous (in a bad way) when used for other purposes. It helped tank Andromeda due to development difficulty with it.

I know Decima has only been in one game so far, but that game was the best looking and performing engine I've played on the ps4 so far, granted it ran 30 fps it almost never faltered on the pro.

Based on what criteria? Because it's not if we take a lot of things into account...

Unreal is the best overall engine... still.

It's hard to say. Have you ever made a game on it in conjunction with any other game engine?

I think Death Stranding is going to make an even stronger case than Horizon for Decima.

I expect Kojima's new game to blow minds.

Fox Engine was definitely good - its natural sunglight and overcast effects are the best in the industry. But everywhere else, it's been superseded by now.

It didn't sound like the best engine around when it came to Mass Effect Andromeda where it seemed to have a ton of issues.

I think id Tech 6 deserves more praise, the way DOOM performs on consoles is just mindblowing, considering it's maintening a stable 60fps and great visuals.

Looking forward to Wolfenstein II in this regard.

Well the engine kind of killed" Mass Effect Andromeda indrectly too apparently and partially Inquisition because of all the time they needed to construct stuff that was already there in the UE3.

Powerful engine for sure and result are often amazing but it might not be "the best" for every games.

I'm gonna say FOX engine.

MGSV runs at 1080p and 60fps all inside a seamless open world and having the greatest stealth + combat gameplay seen in gaming so far.

After reading about Andromeda's troubled development I wouldn't say that.

I agree with others here. Decima is blowing my mind on my PS4 slim, honestly.

Hmmm, I think Horizon's engine (Decima I think) is the best I've seen. The things that engine can pull off is amazing.

It's a gorgeous engine in the hands of DICE, but it seems to be incredibly inconsistent once you veer outside of that team..

Actually, I can't even say that. Mirror's Edge had some pretty atrocious image quality.

The engine is a beast. SWBF2 looks amazing but Anthem looks so much better..It's incredible what they've been able to achieve with the engine.

Frostbite is sufffering from the same problem that Unreal 3 had back in the day in that every game has the same Hazy bloomy look. Unreal 4 is WAAAY more diverse in it's offerings, even if it isn't the most substantial from a physics point.
