So Chipotle is pretty damn good...

I love Chipotle! I haven't tried the 2 different types of meat but it sounds amazing! I typically get extra white rice, black and pinto beans, barbacoa, mild sauce, sour cream, extra cheese, and guacamole.

What is the next best meat choice, except the steak? They can't every seem to cook the steak to a consistent medium well or medium or whatever it is supposed to be cooked to at the location near me.

Someone else mentioned it, but I always order online to avoid waiting in line. (We have one Chipotle in town for approximately 35,000 people)

add their chips and guac and it is eay to get to 1800 -2000 calories and over 3200 mg's of sodium.

That's fast food in a nutshell. Sodium is a bit of a bogeyman as well, unless you're hypertensive.

I guess it might vary based on what part of the country you're in, but I generally only pay just over $7 for a burrito, maybe over $9 if I get guacamole.

Carnita's + guac + double meat is about $13 after tax in Seattle.

But that's probably the maximum price since Seattle's tax on prepared meals is around 10% and food in general is more expensive here unless it's locally sourced ingredients (due to being in the corner of the country.)

Sodium is a bit overblown. Read up on it. The Japanese diet is very high in sodium yet they are very long lived.

Sure you can go all out and get calorie bomb burrito, but you can also get a decent salad or rice bowl. Much of the food is minimally processed as well. The meats are grilled or braised and you customize your entree pretty nicely.

Many have lost weight by subbing Chipotle for their normal fast food.

That's the reason Chipotle gets little criticism.

It's because the customer is 100% in control of how many calories their meal will have. My usual Chipotle meal is a salad with no rice and I load up on veggies and salsa and the meal is under 500 calories.

So why the hell are you counting the cost of the chips and drink with the cost of the burrito then? I can easily break 11$ at Subway if I do that.

Well if all you get at Subway is $5 footlongs or six-inches then yeah you might not break $11, but if you get some of their more expensive footlongs than it's not hard to pay that much for a footlong combo.

Yeah. Subs for me there on the rare occasion is like $3-5 for a footlong.
 
I tried it for the first time last week. Its alright. Unfortunately for them the city has Izzo's and Bullritos. Chipotle cant even approach those.

Chipotle is amazing. Taste even better when it's half off.

Bowl.
Double steak.
Mix of both beans.
Extra veggies.
Mild, medium and corn.
Guac. A MUST!
Cheese.
Lettuce.
 
Even if you get a bowl, you can still ask for the tortilla on the side. They'll warm one up and wrap it in foil.

Not in English it ain't. Queso is a melted cheese sauce, and to claim otherwise is being pedantic.
 
I have two go-to's myself:

- chicken salad with that GOAT dressing from heaven, fajitas, black beans, mild salsa, corn

Or

- steak burrito with white rice, black beans, mild salsa, corn, lettuce

Always get chips with guacamole and hot salsa on the side regardless. So good.
 
I used to work there, so I ate pretty much every combo imaginable.

I think the supreme selection is a burrito with rice, black beans, fajitas, tomatoes, corn, hot, guacamole (free), lettuce. Smother in the chipotle tabasco. Vegan, healthy, delicious.
 
I feel like Chipotle's has always been for people who feel uneasy stepping into a taqueria or eating from a taco truck, at least here in California.
 
too much damn liquid in everything

and since there is always a line that means you are rushed through and they sure as won't drain anything for you

In what way? In that you can choose whatever you want on your meal from a selection in front of you? That's about the only similarity I see. Biggest difference is that Subway is shit and Chipotle isn't. What a weird comparison.

I do both. Chipotle tends to be hella convenient too. I'm not gonna find Taqueria in a mall for example.

I do prefer trucks and tacquerias, but goods ones are out of my way.

Lol. Same here. I actually like Chipotle.
 
I love me some Chipole, picked my current Gym so I could walk to one for a post workout meal.

In DC we also have Shophouse, a very good Chipole run Asian place that does the same concept but with curry instead of salsa.
 
One thing I can say is that not one Chipotle employee I've encountered can roll a burrito to save his life. Do they train these guys to roll it like a ball?

EDIT: I don't think anyone eats at Chipotle because they want mexican food. It's just "Chipotle."

Its stupid and a horrible example of the butchering of a word. Also its French fries and not chips that's also stupid and its chips and not crisps. I don't even know what my point is but I'm furious now.

What does salt have to do with being vegan, healthy and delicious? As long as you're staying hydrated, nothing wrong with sodium (unless you're one of the unlucky few who is genetically sensitive to salt)
 
I prefer actual Mexican food. Chipotle is too fast food and expensive. I can get actual Mexican food for half or same price.
