Also why is everyone so private about what you make around strangers? I'm seriously asking? Is there a fear someone will try to solicit you if it's something high? Or afraid someone you know IRL will see it?

I had a similar choice to make about 2 years ago. Went down from 55 hour weeks to 35 to 40 and took a yearly pay cut due to lack of overtime.

I know plenty of people who work tons of hours or for terrible companies that run you into the ground but pay you accordingly. Unless you have the mental fortitude to take that beating every day, the compensation only takes you so far.

Ironically, im starting a new job next month that straddles the position I moved from and the position im in now. Maintain the 40 hour a week average schedule but working strict 12 hour days including weekends hollidays and nights.

Also, on topic about 1800 net currently every two weeks.

I was laid off a couple years back and now am having to work my way back up in a different company. I don't do too bad, but I wish I was back where I was two years ago!

Gross is 4200 or so, I keep about 3100 on 1st and 15th.

One million dollars

I drive a Lexus.

I live in Belgium, I'd be happy with that tax percentage ;)

Just make yourself an expat. Those lucky guys get a nice tax reduction, the fuckers.

I'm an expat in Belgium, not sure why I should get a tax reduction just for that

I never understood the mystique behind not wanting to tell people. Whats so bad about telling people how much you make?

Not wanting to deal with the judgement and any resultant behavior/treatment changes towards you. Or you might be embarrassed if you are not where you want to be. There are also people who keep personal information close to them and only let it out if one earns their trust, since that's not always easy to come by.

Well in person it can be seen as a bad idea to many. If you earn X amount of money and people overhear, you might be making yourself vulnerable since a lot of people may hear a number and if you earn a lot, well hell you might have some nice gear laying around! And people can get embarrassed if they don't earn much.

It could also be awkward to many if you earn more than your friend but they have a more demanding job or whatever, opens up some nasty discussions at times. In addition to that you might be opening yourself up to requests for borrowing money. "Hey man can I borrow some money? You earn X amount stop being stingy!" You know how people are like out there, best keep it to yourself.

I guess it depends on the culture. I've met people who think it's rude to discuss salaries in public.
That seems to be the general though here (in the US). I guess the thought is that it makes people feel privileged/ashamed to see that they make significantly more/less than others. Is there other reasoning? I can see why it could be a problem within companies (and it's actually forbidden where I work to share it with other employees).

But to actually share, I make almost 1000 every two weeks. It's not a huge salary, but it's more than enough for me to live comfortably on.

$800 after t's

I get paid weekly though.

f t w

I'm salaried, but if I were to calculate it for every two weeks it would be around ~$4k before taxes.

Can you take me in as your minion

Amazon releases mine monthly, averaging about 12k. That's after getting 30% cut out, sucks a hard dick that Malaysia has no tax treaty with US. Thinking of moving back to England where withholding fee is a sweet 0%.

CAN YOU B MY FATHER.

Holy shit bro hook it up. You are rolling in $$$

Good thing is I don't get taxed for any US made income in Malaysia, but that 30% is too much D:

I start my first job in a week. $2100

First job? I'm sure there are people on something beyond a first job making one-fifth of what you are. What exactly are you doing as a first job to be in a net well beyond a significant portion of others?

I'm not trying to be shady, I just find your experience to be rather abnormal from the atypical type, and thus it's rather interesting.

Post taxes, insurance, etc, about $1200. After I pay bills and other living expenses I split the remainder of my money about half and half between savings and bullshit like throwing $600 on a video card.

Weekly here, $750 after taxes. I live in NYC, so I get about $400 taken out of each paycheck. Then rent is due! $3,000 a month where I grew up would afford me a house and a car, not so much here.

It only seems rude if you're discussing it in a context of how much more you make than people. I find it interesting what different jobs make. Anyway at my summer job I just finished I was making 600 every 2 weeks which is enough to pay the rent and bills.

Yeah I know how you feel. If I lived in any other state, I'd be doing okay for myself but here its a bit of a struggle. I'm hoping to be in the low six figure range by next year.

I get paid monthly. $6,900 before taxes, retirement, benefits etc. Around $4,600 after all of that.

That's just for my 10 academic year pay checks. Summer pay is split into two paychecks, and amount depends on whatever I have that year in terms of grants with summer pay built in, teaching a summer course etc.

$926 every two weeks after three years in a skilled job for a non-profit.

2.5 kids.

Oof.

Good interviews today for a job that would be at least. 30% increase though so fingers crossed.
