So GAF, whats your most trusted site for reviews ?

GAF.

I gave up on numbered reviews long ago. There isn't an outlet out there that doesn't seem biased. AAA games are instantly given higher scores even though they might not even deserve them. Then you are given reviews from a single individual per site who might not even be into the genre they reviewed. Which of course skews that score. Games journalism as a whole is still a joke.

Giantbomb only. I used to trust Destructoid for a long time too until they gave Halo Master Chef Collection a 9/10.

However i don't trust Giantbomb for reviews on Call of Duty or racing sims.

Aside from Gaf, I'd say Edge. They seem pretty unbiased and level-headed. I don't read their reviews either before finishing the game though, because they include spoilers just like all the rest.

I totally forgot to mention EDGE, I have been a subscriber for a few months, and they are fairly reliably decent.

Eurogamer's writers have tended to write fairly close to my general views on stuff, and I like that they don't really have scores any more.

I always go with my trusty 'add a point if you really like this kinda thing, add two if it's your soul food of gaming and vice versa' method when looking at other reviews anyway.

Reviewers tend to have played loads more modern games than me and are less forgiving of stuff that just doesn't bother me.

GAF (for the most trusted impressions)
GameTrailers (consistent style for their video reviews)
Eurogamer (for written review content)
Metacritic & GameRankings (for a rough guide)
IGN & Gamespot (for the review's video content, and review summaries)
GameFAQs (for user score of games, especially niche games that have very few Metacritic ratings)

I watch youtube gameplay footage without commentary and then i decide if I wanna buy it or not.

That or friends recommendations.

Honestly though I don't look for peoples impressions of a game. When I read about a game I like to know what it plays like. I don't care if you liked it or not most of the time, just tell me what's the combat feel most like, tell me if the particles effects are cool, tell me a short summary of the stories.

I'll make up my own mind if I think the game is good or not.

But if I had to pick probably eurogamer, they like to tell it how it is.

RPG Codex, yes I'm serious. At least there I know the person reviewing isn't a complete shill and they put a lot of work into the reviews. After them would be GameBanshee, who does really long in-depth reviews and has some of the best walkthroughs for CRPGs.

Initially Gametrailers for big reviews, I find that my own tastes are usually mirrored by the current review staff. If it's a less common title, or something older I'll spend time searching through various review sites.

I don't really read their reviews, but I like listening to Giant Bomb's impressions of a lot of games, and that usually gets me a good idea of if I'd like it or not. That, combined with GAF

Neogaf.

You guys let me know when a game is great so I can buy it.

You guys also let me know when a great game turns shitty so I can have a backlash against it.

None really...

I'm using Gamerankings to look for lowest/highest scores from websites I like, so that I can more easily find what people liked and what people disliked...

Edit: love reading reviews on this forum, too, obviously.

Dont really pay attention to reviews

But if there was a gun to my head, I'd choose gametrailers

Just because their content seems to be the most genuine these days

Gametrailers also gets my vote - their reviews mesh with my gaming preferences the most.

What I usually do is to read the different impressions of the games that I interested in from different Gaffers, then I go and check the different scores from Metacritic, although, sometimes those scores do not represent the quality of game, because, sometimes a is review by someone who doesn't like the genre to which that game belong.

I enjoy watching Gametrailers reviews and when I'm on the fence they've been pretty well aligned with my tastes. And GAF, obviously ;p

Eurogamer. Their removal of scores has improved their reviews even further, focusing both the writer and the reader on the review content even more.

^^^^

People usually have differeing well-written opinions here. That means way more than hundred-point scores to me. Sometimes the reviewer just isn't into whatever genre, or doesn't really "get" it.

There was one reviewer who didn't get the countering mechanic of W101 that comes to mind.

Even if my impression from gaf is "these guys hated it" I get a wide range of opinions as to why/how and I decide for myself.

Sometimes gaf breaks though (see: Nintendo e3 conference)

Usually just read gaf threads with a grain of salt. Game reviews are too up their own ass these days. I don't need to read 5000 words on the new Disgaea.

Metacritic.
Mostly this.

RPG fan on its own generally tend to match my feelings but there is a ton of value in getting a quick grasp on overall reception and, frankly, sites dropping scores are dropping themselves from relevancy because there are too many reviews available for anyone to reasonably be expected to read that many of them.

Uhhh, none really.

GAF review threads where I get a quick outline of each review, and how they differ really works wonders on getting a view of the game and different opinions.

I stopped caring about reviews once I realized the the sites I use to go to are ran by fucking idiots and every site I went to after that we just as bad.

I was high on Kotaku for a long while than some idiot forgot he was a professional journalist and made dumb ass remarks about Dragons Crown art work and that was the last site I gave a chance to.

As of now I trust Gaffer's impressions.

The Metacritic collective is usually accurate for me. I pay more attention to sites that I usually disagree with, weirdly enough.

GAF

It has real people who have wildly differing opinions and you can sift though without having to trust that a single reviewer isnt biased to a console or money.
