So GAF, whats your most trusted site for reviews ?

Good question. Metacritic really does seem to consistently relay the overall quality of a game, most of the time.

I used to like Eurogamer as well before they changed their rating system, and Jim Sterling is also quite good.

There isn't one reviewer or site that has exactly my taste in games, so I use metacritic(also look at the distribution of scores and check the one or other review a little further).
Then I watch the Giant Bomb Quick Look before I decide.

Edit:
[...]and Jim Sterling is also quite good.
And yes, Jim Sterling's reviews are always a good read even though I don't really share his taste (sometimes I wish did, but that's why I'm me and he's Jim fucking Sterling, son)

I don't trust any sites for reviews and almost never purchase games DAY ONE anymore. I let word of mouth on various podcasts and GAF be my guide. Then I wait until the game drops in price. Then I wait for it to drop in price again.

I always check Polygon and Kotaku if I'm on the fence about something. Not so much their final recommendation or score, but I try to decide if the problems they have with the game will be problems for me.

No individual, but a combination of RPS, Kotaku, Quarter To Three, Eurogamer and Game Informer should paint a picture of a game that shouldn't be to far away from the reality.

Don't care for metacritic other then that a score way below 70% would make me a think a bit, and would require either developer loyalty or a demo for a purchase.

I will buy basically any game I'm interested in and foresee having the time to play as long as it doesn't have an abysmal metacritic score. I don't typically read reviews, but I look at impressions on GAF OTs and watch Quick Looks on Giant Bomb.

I'd say NeoGAF but generally find most games will have their own cult following on here to some degree. It's great but it sometimes makes it hard to gague.

I don't really read long-form written reviews or watch formal video reviews. I try to pick up as much about games from opinions of different people in the industry that I trust. But I don't have anyone where I know if they like a game I will also like it, for instance. I pick up a lot from Giant Bomb videos and their podcast.

I tend to read reviews after I play a game. I'll peruse GAF comments and Kotaku's "should you buy" box? But I don't go read reviews until after the game. When I do, it's usually Kotaku and PC Gamer. They're both sites I've freelanced for; I tend to reach out to sites I like.

metracritic overall score, over 90% means almost every gamer will love it, and is a must play, anything from 74-84, means it's not for everyoone. othe then that reviews don't matter to me. oh anything below a 71 means it's usually shit

Honestly, I haven't looked at a review on a big website like IGN or something in forever. I used to like EGM's reviews back in the day though. Never got into video reviewers like Angry Joe and whatnot-- just not for me.

I know what my tastes are like so it's honestly pretty easy to figure out what I'll like based on previews and videos or even just dev talent. If I'm on the fence I'll ask a friend who has played it or is interested. Besides that, I'll sometimes search GAF for impressions and see what the general consensus is. It doesn't always work out in my favor (Nier) but I generally avoid games on launch if I'm unsure so it's not the end of the world if I don't really like a game.

With over 25 years of dedicated gaming experience my most trusted source is myself, based on gameplay videos, playable demos and GAF consensus, of course. Sometimes GAF hype as well :P

Also recommendations from my brother and some friends who are gamers as well.

I read the last Nintendo-only print gaming magazine of Germany, N-Zone. Because of nostalgia since i read it from the beginning in 1997, but also because they usually write good, trustworthy reviews, reports, specials and consist of only a few editors which have same age as me and are very professional and dedicated to gaming.

Various forums. But I often check AngryJoe's review videos after I've already played the game. He's often right on point.

Gamekult.com defence force ! They buy their own game, refuse review events and score adequately (i'm not always ok with them but most of the time).
