just that the kiddyness isnt the main reason. just realizing playing the same game again is not more fun for me only because now I can control it with some strange free floating wheel (though it works fine)Ronok said:Am I the only who finds the concept of growing out of something "kiddy" at the age of 40 quite funny?
I found the problem. Fricken RE4 is that damn good. I'm still playing that game and it prevents me from even getting close to tackling SMG. But hey, then again, I'm playing the hell out of Tanks from Wii Play. That's a lot of fun._Alkaline_ said:Actually, Nintendo were responsible for getting me back into gaming! After RE4 came out in early 05 and blew my socks off, i became really bored with gaming up until around the time Twilight Princess and Wii Sports came out, and now I'm hooked again.
I really don't see how someone can 'grow out' of Nintendo franchises. On the outside they may seem immature and childish, but try to get anyone who likes 'mature' games like 50 Cent: Bulletproof to finish a game like Zelda. They will most likely fail and fail hard.
Besides, Nintendo franchises still kicks ass. Mario and Smash Bros. just had their best ever games in their respective franchises, and those Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime 3 games weren't so bad either. And by that, i mean they were completely awesome.
and mario kart wii for e.g isn't?Sir Alemeth said:I agree. Wii's first party offering are top notch. SMG, Zelda: TP, and Mario Kart Wii just oozes with quality. Makes playing game "FUN" again! I got tired of the PS2 and Xbox where the games are nothing but expansions or upgrades. Take Halo 3 or FF's for example, same old...with better graphics and new storyline. I couldn't keep myself interested playing the same crap over and over again...bunch of snooze fests.

The real problem with Nintendo is their reliance on the same old characters franchises and they way they repackage the same game for every new console. Whenever the successor of the Wii is released, I already know 95% of the lineup just by looking at previous N64, Gamecube and Wii release lists: a new Zelda game, a new Super Mario game, a new Super Paper Mario, a new Mario Kart, a new Mario Strikers, a new Mario Party, a new Mario Baseball, a new Smash Bros, a new Metroid Prime, etc etc. The only new franchises for the Wii are non-games like Wii Sports and Wii Fit.
ToxicAdam said:Nintendo is fine. You just have to buy their console about 4-5 years into the generation, that way you can pick up all their AAA titles for 20 dollars and you won't be bothered by the rather longish "droughts" that happen on their consoles.

Don't complain about a drought if you're the fucking reason for it.

Well I never!!!....

You're taking Quetz67 (and by extension, most of the people that spew this bullshit) far too seriously.Pseudo_Sam said:For me, I don't understand how you could complain about Nintendo having stale games when the competition is basically pumping out the same thing over and over. Resistance, Halo, Gears of War, J&D - what's so new about those? I mean, everyone's releasing the same thing they've been releasing for multiple generations. They're capitalising on key franchises. But then Nintendo comes along with the DS/Wii combo, a ridiculous risk and questionable decision, and strikes it rich - but still everyone complains. What the hell do you want?
Listen, I don't want to start a war here, but how has Nintendo not freshened up their act more than everyone else?

I don't think I'll ever grow out of Nintendo. Maybe video games, but I'm 28 and going strong. I love the Nintendo universe.
Funny how the original poster keeps posting threads about growing out of Nintendo. I guess he's had a lot of melo dramatic growth spurts lately!
Shooting is cool man. It's much more adult. I don't want to be embarrased by playing kiddy games, you know. Just look at Mario, how kiddy is that!? Eating muchrooms and flowers to throw fireballs and jump on turtles. That's like a drug trip or something....wait....drugs are cool.................................Mario is all right!!!bigmakstudios said:yeah... I have a 360, and I love games like Bioshock, Halo 3, etc... but what exactly makes the gameplay in these games any more "adult" than the gameplay in Twilight Princess or Super Mario Galaxy? If anything, the gameplay in Nintendo first party titles is usually more varied and complex.
