I think wait until august to see, I think I remember a faster version coming.

While the device being out of stock may be related to those brisk sales, it's also possible Bloomberg was on the mark in May when it cited anonymous sources saying we could expect the next generation of the e-reader in August, which is right around the corner.

I got my kindle a few weeks ago and am already half way into my 5th book.
I just wished it told you what "page" you were on.

It's cool on my end because I can upgrade and use my Kindle 2 as a Christmas gift for my brother.Mollymauk said:I was fortunate enough to receive a Kindle 2 as a gift a week or two ago. I told a buddy I was in the market for one, and he gave me his. Said he never used it. I was very close to buying one. I'm glad I didn't because I would have been pretty pissed a newer, cheaper model was available a month later!
Dodged a bullet! :lol
Killer gift! Take my word for it.Gattsu25 said:It's cool on my end because I can upgrade and use my Kindle 2 as a Christmas gift for my brother.
Synth_floyd said:How big is the 6" screen? What are the width and height of it? Just want to compare to some physical books I have. The $140 new kindle is tempting.

I read a lot of tech related pdf's and would like to get a kindle, anyone care to share their experiences?

My layman's man take on the G3 Kindle

It really is nice. So weird because it doesn't even seem like a screen at all. Just seems like liquid paper :lol Sometimes the name of the tech nails it on the head and E-Ink is just perfect lolgrumble said:That is some ultra-responsive e-ink. The new tech is a noticeable jump.
Yeah. Settings.Trurl said:I got a K3 about a week ago. I've noticed some minor ghosting (for me it's tolerable) when panning across a PDF page, but nothing that lasts after an actual page turn. I've had no problem reading it outside, but if the problem is overheating then an October day in Ohio probably is the best test.
Anyways, I love the device. Reading from e-ink is exactly as satisfying as reading from a page, and the Kindle has some perks that arguably make it a better reading experience than a codex overall. I don't think I would want to use it for a book with lots of diagrams or reasons to flip around, but maybe it's better for books like that than I'm giving it credit for.
One little annoyance I have though is how it shows popular highlights from other readers. Is there any way for me to turn that feature off?
Of course!Liu Kang Baking A Pie said:Yeah. Settings.

What the fuck.notjackbauer said:Hey kindle owners, how easy is it to find torrents / pdfs / etc for recently released books? Is there a community of sketchy websites akin to the folks who rip dvds as soon as they're released? Thanks.

There are plenty of streaming sites offering everything amazon has for free. Why should consumers pay anymore when they can just type in "free streaming books" in google and be on their way?AcciDante said:Maybe he's thinking of selling ebooks and doesn't want them to get pirated!....right?
