....and it's really good!
I've been really getting into the RE series lately. I played through REmake, Re2 (2019), and RE4 before diving into Code Veronica. I'm playing the emulated version on PS4.
So right up front, the tank controls (and frankly the UI in general) are....not the best. Even if you ignore the tank movement, the game feels old. There's no way around it. But if you haven't played before and you're interested, the good news is you will get used to it very quickly. Within the first 20 minutes things start to feel fairly natural, though still not amazing.
But if you do commit to acclimating to the controls, you're rewarded with an excellent, classic RE experience. Liked RE and RE2? You'll really like Code Veronica. I came into this game just after finishing 4 (which I also enjoyed) but it felt like a homecoming to get back to a puzzle focused, resource constrained RE. And the story arcs are actually interesting, which I didn't expect. And the dialogue is B-tier enough to be...idk, endearing?
So this is just a thread to talk about RE:CV, and to encourage those who either just haven't had the time to play it, or have been intimidated by the old fashioned nature of the game.
Please spoiler story points, as I'm near the end but haven't quite gotten there yet.
