So is Wii U currently the best second console?

This is completely ignoring the entirety of both consoles' first party lineups (other than Bloodborne which I am guessing is your one title).

I think we will get some of those announced PS4 JRPGs, but not all of them. Level 5 and a few others need to jump on the Steam bandwagon before I would be comfortable writing off the 2016 PS4 lineup.

Released is left past tense fam.

PC is my main, all the big third party stuff gets played on PC
Wii U is what I get excited the most for, gotta cash all that Nintendo nostalgia

ps4 is what I use for DLNA & Netflix and it cant even do one of those very well
really shouldnt have bought a PS4 for just The Last of Us

I found Last of Us to be extremely polished and well made, but ultimately overrated.

I don't know how this is still a common sentiment when it's surpassed the XBox 360 in number of games, and it's still getting more.

360 offers much more variety and higher quality games. Not even debatable. Vita is great for indies on the to though

I've put more playtime into my Wii U than my PS4 and Xbone combined so I'd go with Wii U as being my number one console by default. I got PS4 for Bloodborne and Uncharted and an unplanned great surprise with free Rocket League and then Xbone for just Halo basically, which has been somewhat disappointing in that regard. There haven't been many 3rd party games in general that have interested me really. I even have a PC capable of doing them and I haven't gotten anything for it either recently.

PS4/PC + Wii U is the best combination. But there is no real market for a secondary gaming device anymore imo.

Personally I have a PC + PS4 and I'm happy with that. PS4 is for the console exclusives, the occasional MP game and games like Diablo 3 that isn't playable on the couch with the PC version. I had a Wii U, but it didn't hold my attention.

Released is left past tense fam.

Even if you are looking at 2013-2015 exclusively, I think that there is easily more than 1 worthwhile first party game on PS4 + XB1 unless you have extremely specific genre tastes.

I have no plans on getting an XB1, but I wouldn't say no to Forza, Sunset Overdrive, or Rare Replay if someone wanted to give me the console for free.

It really depends on what kind of game you like. If you're a Nintendo fan, why wouldn't you get a Wii U? However, it hold almost no value for anyone who isn't interested in Nintendo games, which is precisely why it's a failed console.

Drawing a blank after Bloodborne

Sunset Overdrive?
Good chance of that coming to PC as it was under similar contractual circumstances to Ryse and Dead Rising, unless Microsoft locked it up for the sequel.

I love Nintendo, but the Wii U just doesn't do it for me.

I bought the system for Nintendo franchises, and Nintendo really hasn't delivered much when it comes to their big franchises. And I'm not really into huge time sink games like X. I'd probably be a lot happier with the system if the new Star Fox didn't look so half assed.

Sunset Overdrive?

Honestly, the only other two I can think of are Until Dawn and Sunset Overdrive. The last couple years really have been poor for first party exclusives on those platforms.

Edit - I'd throw in Driveclub and the Forza games as well.

No not for me. The Wii U is the worst console ive ever purchased in my life. I totally regret it. Good thing its getting sold for decent money soon.

3ds and vita are garbage. Wi U has better top 20 games than 3ds, facts.

PSP and DS are good though. Only a handful of 3ds games are truly must have's

Probably PC/ps4>xbone>wii u

Get a xbone if your not interested in Wii U titles

No. PS4 is the best primary console and best secondary console as well.

Primary console is judged by its entire library, with the assumption that if you only had one console, which would be the best.

Secondary console is of course, the best companion to your primary console, so not only exclusives but games that might be on other systems but not your main. Ie console exclusives.

Based on both of those criteria, PS4 wins. It has the best lineup for single machine owners hands down. If you own a PC, you still have Sony exclusives plus a lot of Japanese support the other consoles are not getting like p5, dx11, star ocean, Ni no kuni, AC7, FF7 R first, and the list goes on. If your primary is Wii u or Xbone than ps4 is still the best secondary as you have all the titles not on those consoles but are on pc like soma, transistor etc etc.

And ps4s power advantage is another plus in its camp whether it's your primary or secondary, it's a bonus.

Obviously subjective as some people don't like Nintendo.

For me it is #1 on exclusives and refreshing games not found anywhere else. #1 played and #1 in fun.

I have enjoyed my PS4 too, but I should had went with a PC. I hate paying for online so now it is sp only. Like someone said it is a cheap PC, but those are coming soon.

So I got it for price and not miss Uncharted and TLOU

Most people bring up portables. So this is my personal ranking portables added:

PC>3DS>WiiU>PS4>Vita>Xbox One

Well... Only one I dont own is xbox one, sunset overdrive appeals me. No interest in Rise of TR after seeing that horrible horrible input lag. After seeing how scalebound does, I might consider getting one, but even then getting that huge ass console for just 2 games don't seem right. Hopefully there'll be a PC port for Scalebound.

In a house with all the consoles and a gaming PC, my Wii U is used as the punishment option when my kids piss me off and they get bannedv from the other machines.

The Wii U is my favourite console of this gen by far. It gets 90% of my playtime, I only play my PS4 and Xbone for online multi/party chat because Nintendo is the worst for that. For single player and local multiplayer though, I've been predominantly Wii U the past few months.

Depends what you're into.

I bought all the consoles last gen and sold my wii after about a year.

Decided to go with only 1 console this gen, xbox one, but if somebody offered me a second console this gen I'd defo go ps4.

I don't have a current gen console yet, but if I had to pick one, I'd go with Wii U right away.

It's got the games I want.

PS4 + Wii U is the best console combo you can get. I actually have played my Wii U the most of any system this generation so far.

PC and PS4 combo.

I actually love that a lot of games overlap. Sometimes, I rent games from Redbox for the PS4 and when I decide to want to own the game, I buy it for PC. That second playthrough with mods and cheats, and of course, the graphical upgrade, makes it feel like a whole new game.

No, the Wii U is the number one console in terms of exclusives. It is last in multiplats, though.
PS4 just has multiplats, Bloodborne, and Rereleases of PS3 games.
If you have a PC the PS4 is kinda redundant and basically just an accessory to say you own a console.
I don't own a bone so I can't talk one way or the other about it. the bone does seem to have a better selection of exclusives atm.

If you don't play a PS4 for Destiny or Fifa or Madden or Advance Warfare. There is really no point in owning the system and even then if your buddies are playing on the bone version you would go to that console.

Now, by the end of the PS4's life cycle it will have clearly outpaced the Wii U in terms of games. but it doesn't look like the bulk of new interesting games are set to come out until late 2016.

Well, provided that you're interested in any of those games you listed. For me, the days of enjoying Japanese rpg's ended with FF8. After that, I just can't tolerate them. Not condemning the genre, they just have no appeal to me anymore.

I owned a PS4 briefly. Bought it for the Last Of Us remastered and for PlayStation now. Both of those were big disappointments to me so I sold it. Also, with my Xbox, paying for two online subscriptions seemed really dumb to me.

Those lists aren't even comparable. The 360 list contains only retail games. The Vita list contains retail, digital, and vaporware. Like, there is literally a section entitled "Vaporware".

Another example of why Wikipedia is not a good source to use when supporting an argument. The information is often skewed or incomplete.

If you have a PS4, Vita is.

This might be in contention for worst first post of all time.

As for the OP, I own all three. I honestly see no reason any more to own both a PS4 and XB1. The exclusives are nowhere near worth it any more--for me, the XB1 barely gets any play time.
