Best insider was always that inconsiderate AMD employee. Is this the worst "insiders" been wrong about something? So much for ps5 having better rt.
LOL "insiders". There are no "insiders" anymore. There are leaks such as the GitHub leak in which information is accidentally exposed, but "insiders" can be traced back to their source with today's technology. The people calling themselves "insiders" and spreading "unannounced facts" are just spewing bullshit. Is this the worst "insiders" been wrong about something? So much for ps5 having better rt.
Sure, better audio, I am not so sure about that, if they put shitty DAC to headphones, it does not matter and Dolby atmos is already really good. Sure SSD are going to be interesting.I personally prefer a faster SSD and superior audio, but the Xbox Series X needs to be commended for producing possibly the most powerful gaming console in history.

Are you serious? This is more important to you than graphics and framerate?
Sure but based on my observation XB1 controller DAC is better than DualShock 4 DAC. We will see.Sony is an audio company, they never cheap out on their DACs.

They're important but not crucial to a gamer's experience if it's already locked at 60FPS.I agree. Graphics and frame rate are far more important.
This is just the beginning, but so far, Xbox Series X won the power battle.
Yes it was obvious due to cost saving, because Turing is really huge.ya don't say.
It's not going to be at the level of the Tempest Engine though. You know who also cares about audio? : D

Xbox Series X to have dedicated audio hardware acceleration
Xbox Series X will feature dedicated audio hardware-acceleration, and it will be discussed during a GDC 2020 session hosted by Microsoft.www.vg247.com
I should have wrote "PS5 raytracing sucks" just to attract more people, because I could care less about this whilst I am going to have PS5 also, but I care about that you motherfuckers does not seems to have interest in my precious thread : D
Yeah well we still does not have that MS GDC talk mentioned in the article : )It's not going to be at the level of the Tempest Engine though.
Sure, I did not stated otherwise, I just wanted to post tweet with that diagram. And that I don't pulled that out of my ass.well we know that since the registration of AMD's RT patent last fall. it's also bound to clock speeds. so the exactly the same margin as with Tflops.
It won't make up the difference ! Good thing series X Gpu always runs fast while PS5 is variable.well we know that since the registration of AMD's RT patent last fall. it's also bound to clock speeds. so the exactly the same margin as with Tflops.
#neverForgetRayTracing doesn't start until Sony say's it does.
Are they?while we are at it: they are basically doing the same as nvidia while using less die space.
Are you serious? This is more important to you than graphics and framerate?
Graphics have already evolved into "good enough" level on ps4, so if this 3d audio is really as good as they claim, it is cool feature to have.
So I would kind of choose 3d-audio+super fast ssd over just graphics
As long as framerate is stable or almost stable at 30 or 60fps, I dont care.
What I think is important for many is the size, we didnt see ps5 yet but we know the size of xsex.
I made cardboard box size of xsex to see how big it is and that thing is HUGE in console world, I have big self made tv-stand and even on that it looks kind of big.
And many people, especially women can be picky about looks of tech. So IF ps5 will still be like traditional console without overheating, then it will be easier pick for those that care about the looks but not about the specs.
I admit that xsex specs look nice, but ps5 isnt that bad either and probably graphics look almost the same on both, maybe xbox have bit better RT, maybe not. If RT performance scales by clocks, then ps5 have (in theory) 20% faster clocks, so 44% more vs 20% faster, not so big difference
If loading times and other benefits from the ps5 ssd are really noticeable, then I would consider that as most important factor above graphics or other features.
Well we see if meritocracy matters, nowadays it's more about loyalty...This is shaping up to be a real annihilation from MS. Those 1st party games from MS are going to look absolutely insane as they have more raw power to work with and more RT ability as well. Sony stumbled so badly for next generation, they should have taken their sweet time with PS5.
This has been public knowledge for a long time. It's in the patent filed back in june.So it appears, that AMD RT performance is bound to CUs...
Cool, so I did not know that and I guess other might also not know that. I almost did not know English back in june, so appologies...This has been public knowledge for a long time. It's in the patent filed back in june.
Well, it's also bound to clocks, so 44% CU advantage, 20% clock disadvantage, so I am not so sure how will that translate in real world. So XsX has 44 percent better RT performance/capability?
Are they?

Yes this was the thing when PS4 happened. I guess I dodge the bullet in investing to digital library on X1... Thanks FH2We have in the last couple of years moved to a more premium standard. Also the loyalty many spoke about before taking their libraries to PS5 might have to rethink their stance as the back compatibility isn't as extensive as they believed. The only loyalty left for them is the loyalty to their wallet and even that could be tempted based on how MS positions themselves.
Thanks for clarification.yes. the RT core is also mainly doing the intersection testing and is tied to one SM (nvidias CUs) as well. both nvidia and amd have yet to prove, that they can do RT tasks in concurrency to the raster pipeline in any significant way.
Thanks for clarification.
I guess, that they would not patented something which they won't use.to be clear: that's speculation atm. but that's what the patent looks like to me.
They show full path trace Minecraft, which is pretty huge. Since it's fully path-traced.Well, both consoles will suck with raytracing. They're both using CU's for ray tracing.
People are gonna be so dissapointed when they see that console ray tracing will be used to some small rooms and shiny puddles of water and metallic surfaces.
But that's a game that has very basic graphics, so a lot of gpu resources can be used for raytracing.I guess, that they would not patented something which they won't use.
