So no one actually still PLAYS games on gaf right ?

I play the game "How slight does your disparaging comment about the PS3 need to be to get banned," and I play it often it seems.

I still play tons of games, I just post on GAF from work
This. RARELY am I on GAF outside the realm of 8AM-5PM EST. It's been like 20-30 hours of gaming a week for me since the beginning of september. Since then I have beaten:
Spore
Sonic Chronicles
FF4 DS Remake
Chrono Trigger DS
Fable 2
Castle Crashers
Braid
Gears of War 2
L4D
Prince of Persia

and am working on MGS4/Fallout 3/BK/Skate 2 simulatenously.

Much more GAF, much less game for me =P

Over the years I've bought many games due to your influence (latest one being Valkyria Chronicles)...but it doesn't necessarily mean I have the time to play them though :lol

I was really shocked the first time I heard people having unopened games on their shelf. Whenever I buy something whether it be new or used, the first thing I do is try 'em out so later I know what I'm missing and what I'm going to come back to. GAF opened my eyes to the games I probably wouldn't have played or come around to if there wasn't mention or praise for them.

Calm down, Junior.

You must have missed this post:

Hey, I was calm, was just clarifying. That's why I asked in parenthesis (is that what you meant by junior?). I wasn't upset, just giving my opinion like everyone else.

And as for replacing posting on GAF after awhile, I can only comment what I do. I have posted on many message boards but I don't replace it with my already sparse time in playing games. However much I have enjoyed posting on GAF so far, I plan to continue that trend in not having it replace the game time I have.

But no worries, I wasn't upset. Just giving my opinion. But thanks for the concern. :)

PSP and / or DS are a blessing for us commuters.

I finished Final Fantasy IV and Tactics A2 on bus rides only.

50% of my Front Mission 3 playtime is going to / from work from / home

I spend more time in Off-Topic than I do here. It's just that all the threads are the same and my taste is so limited there's almost nothing to talk about.

I admit to spending more time screwing around on GAF than playing games. It's sad, but it's easier to sit at the computer and do nothing than try to learn new control schemes.

I do go through streaks though. I'm currently tag teaming World of Goo and Wario Land Shake It. I also have Excite Truck and DeBlob waiting for me.

I definitely don't game as much as I used to. Right now I play about 5 hours or so of GTA IV every week and that'll probably continue until I finish it. I did cruise through Mirror's Edge relatively quickly since I really liked that game.

I do beat DS games on the bus all the time though. I finished Phantom Hourglass, DQH: Rocket Slime, Contra IV, and FFIV DS pretty much exclusively on the bus by playing in 5-10 minute increments. Only thing was it took me forever to finish those games. Right now I have Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia in my DS and I'm planning on finishing it the same way :P

I don't game as much as when I was 14 but it's directly related to the fact i'm 30 and have a life. I game like 10-15 hours a week and lately a little more than that because the girlfriend is pretty busy and i'm yet to have children.

I post on GAF mostly from work anyways and wouldn't be gaming during that time.

I definitely spend more time gaming. The only reason I bought games and rarely completed them in the past was because I wanted to complete them 100% on the first run (achievements and all). I stopped doing that when I realized the backlog piling up and that I should spend more time enjoying the game then trying to complete every menial task or goal the game throws at me. I usually just lurk after gaming sessions.

I GAF mostly from work.... much to the chagrin of my superiors likely, but when I leave work I go to the gym, come home eat dinner, and either watch some of my shows or squeeze in a few hours of gaming. Started Gears 2 last night, halfway thru Prince of Persia.

I still consider myself a gamer.... maybe not the WoW addict I was back in college and in grad school. But I game whenever I can

there's no doubt gaffers spend more time arguing and fighting OVER games than actually playing them. im surprised the OP hasn't been banned yet for dissent

I still play games, the problem is that games usually only last 2/3 days before they're finished, and leave almost no incentive to play through them again these days.

That combined with the lack of interesting/quality being released on next-gen platforms means I'm buying and playing a lot less than I used to.

I usually spend time listening to podcasts playing XBLA/PSN games (recently it's been tons of Lumines Live) but now that the 1up Podcasts are no more, that's even less I'll be playing now.

:(

99% of my GAF posting is done at work.

I play shitload of games. At least 10-15 hours a week.

I'd say that's a fair bit considering I work 2 jobs, am getting married in Feb and am about to start having a house built.

I seriously bought maybe 5 full priced games in 2008. I mostly play the same PC games over and over again in addition to the occasional console game with friends.

Besides work

I think theres just too much good games and must buy games out there. I expected this because Fallout 3 came out and I'm stilling playing it. Persona 4, Valk Chronicles. These games take time to complete for me.

Hell, all the way at the bottom of my to play list is Mario Super Sluggers and Animal Crossing Wii, and I might not even get to those games until at the end of this year.

When I was younger and used to own a gamecube only, I used to finish 95% of the games and give them enough attention without feeling rushed.

After I got a part-time job, I bought more consoles/handhelds. Now I just have way too many games at once and not enough time to play them all. I can't help buying games for a cheap price. I've got so many games last year, it became not exciting enough to open them directly. I do that just when I feel like it, and therefore there are unopened games waiting for me or many I only tried once.
The last games I finished were Resistance FOM, Uncharted more than 6+ months ago. Metroid Prime 1 and Lost Winds in December 2008, and I'm about to finish Valkyria Chronicles and Super Metroid (VC). I'm also busy with Xenogears, My life as a King, FFVIII (6th+ time?) and continue others from time to time. I just don't feel any enthusiasm after owning so much. I'm trying to be more selective now and keep playing certain games until done.

80% of the times I'm more in GAF, I admit!

There's a reason why I <3 you. How do you do it?
Alternate between genres from game-to-game, always play something you want to play, focus on only one or two games at a time, and if you must GAF, have your computer in the same room as your games and play something, browsing and posting in between.

Keep it fresh, keep it fun, keep it focused. But make sure you spend at least one of your two days off completely game-free! Helps keep you hungry.

Wise words. I'm going to give it a try, thank you so much :D

Most people here just talk about games and not play them.

I have sort of a backlog but that is because sometimes there are some great deals, then something in my life pops up, and then I focus on that instead.

These days though that I just want to play the games I want to play. GAF has burned me so many times on supposedly good purchases that are actually shit that I don't really follow the GAF consensus on anything anymore save for a few members that actually know what the hell they are talking about.

So anyway, I play games but not as much as I used to.

Well honestly i believe i spend more time reading this forum than playing games :(
But the reason for that is that almost no game is so interesting that i can play it for hours...so i end up playing maybe an hour a day. There are some exceptional titles though that i just can let go until i´m through =)

This is great advice. Especially the point about alternating between genres. The few times I've tried to play JRPGs back to back were a disaster. I love using an action game as a palette cleanser between them.

I played some marathon sessions of P4 and SO2 yesterday. Beat P4 (Bad Ending) after playing like 7 hours, and then stayed up till 4am playing SO2. Take that, GAF! :D :lol
