So the Knack 2 Demo is... pretty damn good.

The Knack 2 demo doesn't really show off the variety on offer tbh. I wouldn't judge the actual game based on this demo alone.

In the video reel that plays on the title screen you see way more interesting parts of the game than the demo content itself.

I liked Knack 2 demo, but I am having a difficult time comprehending how people think Knack 1 was better. The combat alone in Knack 2 was considerably better.

I'm glad you enjoyed it OP. I downloaded it and "liked" it just to boost its placement in the store and but I haven't bothered playing it yet. Partly because I don't want to spoil the story for myself but also partly because I already know it's going to be one of the best games of the year.

I'm a fan of Knack, but I didn't think the demo was particularly strong. It's set in a pretty dull, samey environment (insert jokes about Knack in general here) and focuses exclusively on combat, where it would've been nice to have some variety.

Still, all the other stuff we've seen gives me hope for Knack 2.

Bought Knack 1 when it went on sale a little while back and I loved it. Felt like an old school throwback. Looking forward to Knack 2.

Played the demo. Thought it was okay at best. If it wasn't for the fact that I played and completed the original, I wouldn't even bother with the sequel. On the bright side, it was only $32 Best Buy GCU and if the trade in value for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is any indication, the game will only end up costing me $10 after I trade it in to Best Buy.

I found it pretty boring myself. It actually made me sleepy playing it.

Haven't played the first but went into this demo thinking it couldn't be too bad and wow I'm never touching either game

I thought the first Knack was a perfectly serviceable launch game. Ran thru the demo of 2 and thought it was ok. Will pick it up for cheap down the road.

It's the demo to the sequel of one of the best games ever. Of course it's gonna be good OP. Next you'll tell me water really is wet.

Not good enough for 40 dollars. Maybe 5
I have completed knack1. It was ok but not more Than okay. The art style and knack himself is terrible and super ugly. But 60fps is so good.

This thread prompted me to download the demo, and it was extremely boring. It made me run through similar looking cookie cutter areas. Human characters had this generic and unappealing "toon" look.

I think it could serve as a fine base for a licensed Kung Fu Panda game but the Knack world is uncharismatic and soulless... it's anti-Nintendo. If Knack 2 was a best seller I would say the world had taken over by alien substitutes who have a limited understanding of humanity.

The demo did absolutely nothing for me. 10 minutes of super simple combat. I think it was a mistake to release a demo that pretty much only focuses on the fight system (unless the real game is like this as well)

I'll be honest: after I got thrown into the second combat arena, and saw the same two corridors with the same rolling balls at the end of it, I closed the game and deleted the demo. Terrible copy and paste design, boring gameplay (such a basic ass brawler), unappealing art style.

I liked the first Knack and enjoyed the demo here to. Day one along with Destiny 2. It'll make for a nice change of pace from shooting Cabal.

I never played the first game but thought this demo was terrible. Everything felt so generic, had zero fun playing it. And too much violence for a family game

Played the demo in co-op with the missus and it was the definition of mediocre and bland. Can't even begin to fathom what the original Knack was like if this is an improvement. :S

Combat is not really that good on its own (as it is presente on the demo).

I don't think that taking away defensive options the more you get hit is actually good game design

And I'm going to agree with the "art style is bad" crowd here (It's like resolution bumped J&D but without charm)

I like how the OP went from not being at all interested in it before playing the demo, and then praising the game for previous videos he had watched months before.

Yes it is just so bland. Anti-nintendo is a good description, art-style is just awful (technically it is fine)

Really DOES feel like a licenced disney game from 2003

Why make this?

The demo felt amazingly mediocre to me. The mechanics of the combat felt as shallow as a puddle and not particularly satisfying to perform. Upping the difficulty made things more challenging but not any more fundamentally fun. It doesn't even really have the requisite presentation to back the slog up, the game still feels incredibly uninspired with Knack himself being hideously overdesigned and every surrounding character being really dull.

I never played the original Knack beyond experiencing it at a demo station but this game, and by extension the franchise in general, feels like such a "nothing" production, because that's how I feel when I play these games. It's not terrible but it's not anywhere near good either. It just sits there and... exists.

i love platforming games. i love beat em up games. i love secrets.
i refuse to believe anyone thinks Knack is a legitimately good game.

Really? Because I thought it was mediocrity incarnate.

If it's true that they've added more platforming compared to the first game, and the platforming is good, then fair play, but the demo does a poor job of highlighting that emphasis. It's mostly combat focused, and I didn't particularly enjoy the combat.

Also, the character design is still horrid.
