You ever feel that, a story regarding a video game or a series of games end 'too' soon? Do you feel that the game's story has yet to reach a sense of closure that leaves the audience satisfied?

One of my favorite titles in the SNES era has to be Secret of Evermore. The game introduced an interesting premise with an an average protagonist and his stellar companion. As you know,
after the post credits scene of the game, it's hinted that Carltron--the enemy of the series--may not returned to normal as the doctor believed.
. But, that won't ever be continued, because Square Soft US won't ever develop another game ever again. That game itself is one of the reasons as to why I can't stand cliffhangers in games.

What are other examples?

The World Ends With You
But

What about the line (validly spoiler tagged?)
The World Begins With You

And more realistically how we know its not over is the blatant line at the end of the iOS port
"7 More Days" with a picture of a girl holding things from the main characters...

It'll never happen, and if it does, it won't be in the way we want it.

the only reason i thought The World Ends With You ended too soon was because i was still having so much fun.

Baten Kaitos series needs another game that *Baten Kaitos 1 ending spoilers*
takes place under the clouds.

Exactly.
Probably iOS exclusive.

GTA V managed to tie up most loose ends but I was still surprised it ended when it did. Not sure what I was expecting I guess, it just felt like I had finished another mission and then suddenly the credits roll.

GTAV

The entire time I felt like I was waiting for the story to actually start but it just ended up being a pretty bland and uneventful string of missions with the characters just doing the same stuff/complaining about the same things the entire time.

Still enjoyed the game though, I just wish it had more of a story.

Get ready to watch the ENTIRE ending for 007 Agent Under Fire.

Yup. That's it.

^ lol

Castlestorm:
Was Lord Hugo evil or what? He assumes they died in the rock collapse...and he seemed shady of course, but that was enough to know he sold them out? Why not go back and confront him since he was basically ruling over the kingdom while you are doing your adventure stuff.

Xenogears. While the story did have closure at the end of the game it was only one part of a six part series. I can't help but feel there is so much awesomeness we'll never be able to experience in the Xenogears world.

Borderlands and Mass Effect 3. It's so sad that great games like these got a crappy ending.

Also, CoD Ghost... Well, the whole campaign was pretty average anyway.

GTA V without a doubt. It left me wanting more, but I guess that was their take on tying in the free roam that comes after by treating it as such.

Persona 4, vanilla. You end the game thinking "I just want more time, man ;_;"

Golden was a fucking godsend.

P4G real true good ending is as long as the main game haha you can litteraly miss half of the game if you get it wrong, then the not bad ending as more gameplay, the good ending as even more then the P4G exclusive sutff ads even more it's crazy it never ends. Such an amazing game

Kotor 2 confused the hell out of me. It's so abrupt that I thought I had missed something crucial right at the end.

Dragon's Dogma

Now I know that there's more things to do after you
defeated Grigori
but it just caught me off guard how fast you got to that point. And the large area on the upper left corner of the map turned out to be
just a large mountain

Hmm. The story was actually a lot better than I expected for a GTA game. I pretty much thought the game would be over after the big heist but I enjoyed all of the dialog until the end. It wasn't TLOU good overall but it was pretty good.

BattleTanx: the trilogy that will never be. The second game, subtitled "Global Assault" ended on a cliffhanger, but the developer, 3DO, went bankrupt before ever wrapping the story up. I'm pretty sure, since I haven't found any sources saying that the BattleTanx IP was bought the way some of 3DO's other IPs were, that one of the executives at EA sports, as the former president of 3DO, currently owns the rights to the series (as the unsold IPs remained with him), but good luck convincing EA Sports to make a tank combat videogame. Besides, BattleTanx took place in an alternate timeline 2006 (the games came out for the Nintendo 64 and Playstation).

I was really enjoying XIII and then it just ended.

I don't care if they had sequel plans or were adapting a serial, it make me fucking hate the developers that they made effectively half a story.

If you're going leave it on a cliffhanger, make sure it can serve as a finale in itself or have a date locked for the follow up. I loath cliffhangers generally when there's no guarantee the audience with actually get more. Why should I get invested in half a story - I've been burnt here with TV too many times, so my viewing habits have changed which has spread to gaming. Anything with 'Episode' in turns me off even if its gaming mana.

This logic would be solid...except you actually got a sequel. Unless you're talking about a different XIII.

Also:
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. SO MUCH POTENTIAL for more storytelling, and yet...
