...but do it to and Obama pic and you're a fucking racist, right?

Kosmo. Forgive me if I'm way off base here. But. A lot of your posts regarding politics at least seem to have this level of...anger? towards Obama. Why is that? I'm just curious.

I wish I was. People can't even say anything about Obama or disagree with his policies in the press without MSNBC. et al running the story and adding "...would they have said this to a white president..."

Case in point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hI-9DOkx3HM

It'd be great if more criticism leveled at Obama had rationality and logic behind it, but most boils down to "I hate him, cuz of ....what I heard!"

merry xmas

Yesterday I heard a clip of Chris Matthews calling Darrell Issa a racist because of the Fast and Furious thing. So no, not necessarily a false equivalency.

In relation to a gay rights supporter flipping a former President the bird? How does that even equal to someone being racist?

There are actual instances of people being racist towards the President that make sense in context. That comment was more like a bitter non sequiter.

That's not really true. Obama's 45% approval rating has a lot more to do with the currently still shitty state of the economy more so than "that's what I heard!" While the economy is only effected by the reigning president by a small degree, it's a valid complaint against that president and carried other recent contestants into office (Clinton > HW Bush; Reagan > Carter).

The double reverse finger!

Not surprised that Kosmo and Ripclawe are very upset by this blasphemous iconoclasm.

I'm not upset - I just find it funny that someone who espouses that we need to be above petty bullshit (e.g. who cares if gays get married, I don't) would get invited to the White House and act like a 3rd grader with the pettiest of actions.

Is that what they espouse? Maybe they're actually pro petty bullshit.

I'd be just as pissed about this no matter the President of the United States that they were doing it in front of, republican or democrat. As others have said, you are given the honor to attend and you should act with respect and class, period. I don't care who you are, that goes for all as far as I'm concerned.

That's not what I'm getting at.

I'm saying that people need to stop pretending that Obama doesn't get shit for the simple fact that he's black.

I'd be pissed if I was Obama. But not as myself. The White House is not my house, and its contents don't deserve respect merely because the rulers of the land are granted its use.

Speaking of the "what if it was Obama" thing, conservatives have mocked him in the past. Terry Jones just a few weeks ago made an effigy of him. I don't remember seeing a HuffPo front page headline blaring about it.

The full pic shows three of them flipping Reagan off

Ah, okay.

I'd like to rephrase it.

"How dare they be shitty people!"
Agreed. I'm not going to throw a fit over this because, in all honesty, it doesn't affect me at all, but that doesn't mean I don't recognize the distinct lack of class here. And at the white house no less.

No, you're a parent that wants their kid to do farm work.

The whole "you must maintain class and dignity in the White House" stuff is a part of the problem.

Hell, the White House, and it's existence, is a part of the problem.

It's all a glorification of people who really should just be considered people with an important job to do.

Instead we do this semi-royalty treatment with our elected leaders, who are NOT royalty, and who actually are making decisions for our country.

The same people who will do everything they can to insult a President they don't like, will then turn around and claim you need to "act classy" inside the White House. As if the words they'll use to describe politicians embody "class" in general.

They are just PEOPLE.. they shouldn't be having their visage's painted and glorified by anyone in the first place.. and our Preisdent shouldn't be living in a gold plated mansion.

no i'm pretty sure the white house is ok and people just shouldn't act like assholes in it. but whatever.

Right. It's not a part of the glorification of our leaders, the ego stroking they receive, the megalomania that occurs.

It's all just really healthy human behavior, and not indicative of the vast disparity between the "populous" and those "in power" that shouldn't exist.

You'd think that gays would get over the fact that Reagan stayed quiet on speaking about AIDS until the late 80s after 20,000 people had already died from it.

WTF? Hahaha. I like the electoral map 'predictions' LOL.

The comments....

Oh my, the comments....

This is a fun exercise, but all premised on the assumption that the Tyrant will abide by the results of the election. He’s already tossed the Constitution in the trash, and now we hear buzz of democrats wanting him to rule, not govern. What’s to keep him from saying that the election was invalid for some reason and refuse to recognize the results? If Romney wins, I think we should ALL plan to visit Washington DC on Inauguration Day, noting that DC’s laws against gun possession have been invalidated. Beck, why don’t you call a “Restoring the Constitution” rally on the Mall for that date. If the Tyrant leaves, then the Republicrats will at least get the message. If the Tyrant does not leave, well, the garrison of DC can’t possibly stop half a million. The question is, not does the Tyrant have the balls to ignore the Constitution, but rather do WE have the balls to enforce it?

Ewoodard, this is my worse nightmare. I truly believe that he will come on TV election day and tell us that the US government as we have known it is OVER and that he has now established a dictatorship. Please, please we must pray for our country.

It's not parody at all.

Obama being elected has brought the lowest common denominator in society into our political discourse. People who said little about politics for their entire lives, were suddenly embroiled by Obama being elected.

The "why" is a touchy subject. Any reasonable person knows precisely why. Republicans have a hard time admitting it.

I think the people that read the Drudge Report regularly don't even take what they say seriously. Drudge has a history of spinning some pretty tall tails.

So talking completely out there asses(even more so anyway) is a new republican tactic now? Not much can be disputed I guess.

really?
like for real?

you posted in both threads about it and now you claim you didn't see anyone make a fuss about it...
one of those threads linking to the huffpost story about it

Flip him off, nah. Photoshop him into witch doctor garb or something? Yes.

I'd definitely like to flip off Cowboy Ronny, but I'd probably have the decorum to not do so in the White House.

Huge percentages "believing" that the President is lying about his citizenship, what religion he actually is, etc.? Suggesting he's some evil dictator, if not actually the anti-christ, and his goal is to take over the government?

It is new, or an excalation of the old at the very least.

And it's because Obama isn't an old white man.

And because people who reacted to that were pandered too.

It lowered the public discourse to new lows.

it's not a big deal

it is rather classless to act that way in the fucking white house

goddamn
