Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Playing through the first one for the first time. I had some pre-concieved notions of how I thought the game would be and it's not like that at all: I figured I'd spend more time in the court room than I do. And I thought that I could collect evidence and make objections, but that I didn't
have to do these things; they would just make the case easier to win. But there's a path you have to take and the game funnels you in that direction. I'm really getting attached to the characters, though, so I may pick up the second one when I'm done.
I'm on the last case right now.
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes
I've never played through the MGS series before, and I have a friend who is to MGS as I am to Halo. He's been wanting me to play through the series and I figured I'd better do it now before Halo 3 hits.
You don't really
play Metal Gear Solid as much as you do
watch it.

I've never played a game with so many cutscenes. You play for about five minutes and then there's a six minute cutscene; rinse and repeat. But, I'm still enjoying it. The pyschic/vampire/cyborg (isn't there a cyborg at some point?) thing seems really out of place, but I guess they'll be introduced in way that doesn't seem odd. I've already met "Psycho Mantis" and it didn't come off as too weird. I've noticed a few minor gameplay issues - like when I back up against a wall, it will sometimes shift my viewpoint completely around, where I'm up against a wall, but I'm holding the control stick in a completely different direction. I don't know how else they could have done it, but it just feels weird sometimes. And whose idea was it to put a character's Codec code on the back of game box and have the a character tell you to find the code "on the back of the package"? Completely idiotic. Who would ever have thought to check the back of the game box? And it completely takes you out of being immersed in the game.
But besides those issues, and a few like them, I'm still having fun. And it
is the first game in the series (the Solid series), so I expect it can only improve.
