Nah, I know you're saying that to be inflammatory to the Wii kids derailing the thread, but it's unlikely that it would make the PS3 surpass the Wii. It would, however, help make the PS3 fairly successful in Japan (which is possible without being the #1 console, y'know).Brandon F said:Funny...FF7 is the key to propelling Sony past the Nintendo juggernaut in 1997 and in 2007...

Derailing a thread that is based on speculation and rumor mongering doesn't take too much.

Yeah well considering FFVII was a technical marvel for its time I would think most fans would want a better version not an inferior one. I absolutely love FF but if they do the remake on the DS I think I speak for most when I say I will be extremely disappointed. I rather it be a Next Gen Experience not a quick way to make some extra cash. If anything I blame Enix for the all the shananigans happening with the company.Hcoregamer00 said:Every FFVII fan has a PS3?
Enough Said :lol
Rancid Mildew said:Besides, the creative visions of the men responsible for FFVII are incompatible with any current Nintendo system.
TheJollyCorner said:I think a lot of people are forgetting another key element to a FFVII Remake:
Yoshinori Kitase loves new tech. So does Nomura.
If Kitase's involved in a FFVII Remake, he'll pull for PS3/360- mostly likely PS3 first, because Square is now sitting on a very expensive White Engine that they need to utilize. I know Sony haters do not want to hear this, but only using this engine for three games (assuming Kingdom Hearts III also uses it) isn't enough to justify it's creation. I'd imagine Sony Edge being introduced into the S-E offices last April has also been a huge help.
Of course, at the end of the day Kitase is under the employment of Yoichi Wada and the rest of the Square-Enix big wigs, so they could force the remake to inferior hardware. Money might talk and get Kitase to reluctantly go through with it, or it may be the very straw that forces him to finally defect and join his pal The Gooch @ Mistwalker.
Either way, I don't see the long-awaited FFVII Remake going to DS, PSP, or Wii without a fight from the two most important individuals still left on the Square side of the company.
Maybe the assumption is that by 2011, after FFXIII and vsXIII come out, PS3 will actually be turning a profit, the White Engine will be not only mastered but expanded upon, and the time will be right to spring the Remake as the close of the generation approaches?
I really just care about FFXIII right now, to be honest. TGS better bring the fucking goods to the forefront!
RurouniZel said:Indeed. Heck even the title of the thread is "What's the Latest Status of GAME THAT DOES NOT EXIST?"

I just don't understand this. Why do people think Square has to help the PS3. Sony doesn't how S-E. And S-E doesn't give a shit of what will happen to Sony if they flop. They just want to sell their game (FF XIII) as it has already been announced for the platform.badcrumble said:Nah, I know you're saying that to be inflammatory to the Wii kids derailing the thread, but it's unlikely that it would make the PS3 surpass the Wii. Looking at the situation Sony is right now S-E sure won't take the risk to remake FF XIII on the PS3. They don't care about potentially being able to revive the platform. It's just too risky. The PS3 is not S-E's console. They are independant and have no obligation to help SCE.

Yes, I would rather it be Next Gen Multiple platform a million times more than it be a Wii or a DS title. Of course single platform means quality would be higher since they work on the strengths of the system. I for one do not want a 9 disk RPG ;PHcoregamer00 said:Okay, so if they use graphics as a benchmark then what would take out the possibility of FF7 remake for the XBOX 360 or the PC? How about a console fan's worse nightmare and they go Mutiplatform for a remake?
Since we are talking about potential userbase, the biggest one is combining the PS3, XBOX 360, and PC userbase. They would be "worthy" of a remake and they would present the optimum financial opportunities.
Hcoregamer00 said:I would, because it is an improvement already :lol

lol what :lolHcoregamer00 said:This is SquareEnix we are talking about, the chances of it going on PS3 are just as good as it going to XBOX 360, PS2, PSP, DS, PC, or Wii. The problem is that we are speculating about a product that doesn't exist which means this whole thread is speculation, rumor mongering, and false hopes.

Besides, the large volume of "FF7 on PS3" requests I saw at the Square Enix Party 2007 message board would surely be hard to ignore even for Square Enix. There loads of money just waiting there. Only thing is, they wouldn't want to overshadow FFXIII so I wouldn't expect it to be announced until that is all done with.
My, quite the self fulfilling prophecy you've lined up there. :lolTheJollyCorner said:mostly likely PS3 first, because Square is now sitting on a very expensive White Engine that they need to utilize. These games have been in developpement for a long time. Everyone, even the most annoying ntards thought the Ps3 would sell 5millions with no games.ethelred said:Considering that Square Enix already has two high profile and very expensive games coming for the PS3, you really think the company is as completely ambivalent about its success or complete failure as you say? Right which is why their not likely to announce another high profile, expensive project for a struggling platform. The market has changed, a remake of a 10 year old game isn't going to save PS3.ethelred said:Considering that Square Enix already has two high profile and very expensive games coming for the PS3, you really think the company is as completely ambivalent about its success or complete failure as you say?
