Just got word that I should be getting my copy of the game today. Will post impressions late tonight!
Edit (confirmed):
One person who's playing on Xbox One posted some of his impressions and said he believes that for himself, he's made the right decision.
At this point all I can assume us that they're not reviewing early because it's not very good but they're hoping people will blindly buy it.
I have to imagine a few reviews will come out before Monday.
Ive not played near enough to give any real impressions yet but I can say I was a bit surprised at how good this game looks visually. Trying to knock out a few story missions first so I can see how things hold up with mayhem and explosions once I get a few car upgrades.

Unfortunately not. MGSV all the way.
Plus I'm still salty as WB over AK for PC.
For those wondering, the game will be 1080p on both Xbox One and PS4.

It looks kinda meh. Grey and uninspired, I'll pass - or buy MGS5.

what site has the best deal for the PC version?

Look, just here me out guys. I know that I've been harsh to the game which is not released yet, but why do I even need to buy and play this game (to make a judgement on it afterwards) the whole premise of which is to build big F car (by searching and grabbing every piece of metal here and there) to beat the game's main villain (this is how the game was advertised and presented to us)? Is this sounds like interesting and compelling story/premise to any of you to which you are willing to dedicate from 20 to 30 hours of your life (while there's more interesting games available or soon will be released)? To me personally - definitely not. I have played a ton of similar games in my life for the last 10 years to make a judgement on a game before even playing it and by watching 2 almost 3 hour streams in a row and every trailer that was released so far. There's clearly almost empty open world in the game with tons of empty and wasted space and a lot of repetitive activities (don't even start to argue with me about that cuz there's tons and tons of similar markers on the map which is the same in almost all open world games like this and there's absolutely no reason for it to be different and better in Mad Max). Quantity over quality, nothing more, nothing less. I have followed the game all these years hoping it will be good and true Mad Max game I've been waiting for, but it clearly isn't... well, at least in my eyes.
Mad Max to me is like very boring Red Faction: Guerrilla (or Just Cause 2) without unique and interesting setting (huge and boring desert with a ton of wasted space? no thanks), interesting TPS mechanics (not to mention the lack of cool and satisfying melee weapon/s) and without full destruction of everything in the world which is... you know, the most interesting and fun aspect of RFG which makes you play the game for hours and there's even a lot of different tools and weapons to help you destroy everything in your path and it never gets old. In RFG among other things was unique and interesting setting and more or less okay story (not to mention the revolution aspect of the game and the fact that you have the whole army of NPC willing to help you fight the EDF which becomes more and more bigger the more you play the game). I don't know, looking at really boring setting, building, upgrading and driving a car for 20 or 30 hours on a huge and by the most part empty map, destroying vehicles and annoying patrols here and there (hello Borderlands/RAGE), completing tons of repetitive side activities (and AC-like stuff), get myself involved in absolutely awful, clumsy and really bad copy and paste of Arkham's combat does not look interesting, compelling, satisfying and fun to me in any way shape or form, is it really that hard to understand? If that's what you guys want from a Mad Max game.... well, okay, good for you, but I as a fan of first two movies just can't look at the game and say - I like it and want to buy and play it right now just cuz I can blow shit up while driving a car - this is just not enough for me to invest my time into the game, there must be something else beyond just that and generic open world and I can't see it no matter how hard I try.
I am 29 years old, I don't have a lot of time, money and desire to spend on a quick cash grabs and generic/mediocre open world games anymore like from 10 years ago to this day and I just can't stand those types of games anymore (with a very few exceptions when open world either done really well or when they have one or two (or more) cool ideas/gameplay mechanics etc. that saves the game - Arkham series, GTA, RFG, Just Cause 2, Sleeping Dogs, The Witcher 3) cuz they are all the same in a most bad way possible (tons of boring and repetitive side activities/quests and huge map which were made just for the sake of longer play time and to be advertised as a really big game with a ton of content). Damn, if I had the time and money even then I would not spend it on Mad Max because you only live once and by having a ton of bad experiences in the past with these types of games, there's absolutely no reason for me to waste my time and hard earned money on another one (Mad Max or any other cash grab/mediocre game).
And why in the hell almost every big game nowadays (if it's not RTS or FPS) with a huge potential (setting, lore, gameplay mechanics, main characters etc.) must be (and is) open world? Why is everyone so obsessed with the open world? Is that some kind of panacea or something which allow you to make a cool, interesting, diverse and unique game with great variety in gameplay? Well, it is not in the most cases and that's a fact. I mean of couse, Mad Max game must have driving sections and stuff like that cuz... well, it's a Mad Max game, but can the whole game be.... I don't know, more like Spec Ops: The Line/Enslaved type of action/adventure game with some occasional driving sections, lots of cool explosions, car crashing and stuff like that (which in the current game looks awesome, I admit it)? Open world (and everything related to it) is just ruining everything in the current game for me and I don't wanna touch it and spend my time with it, period.
Peace.
Look, just here me out guys.
*Snip*
Peace.
I bought it when it was one of GMG's VIP deals. It's annoying that we won't get keys until the release day. On top of MGSV's lack of a preload that's two games to download at the same time!
I don't understand why some people are calling the world empty in this game. In the videos I've seen it's never long before Max is surrounded by enemies or coming up on some point of interest. Even ignoring that, it is supposed to be an apocalyptic wasteland, so it wouldn't make sense for it to be busy like the Assassin's Creed, GTA and other such games, or even the aforementioned Red Faction Guerrilla. It seems like such a forced complaint.

Edit (confirmed):
Well, yes... cuz it looks boring, uninspired, etc. at least in my eyes. You spent most of this post complaining about open world game releases and calling it boring, uninspired, etc, in regards to Mad Max.
Okay, let's just forget that I am also a huge fan of the MGS series and look at the facts - MGS V has a very robust and diverse stealth, action and tactical gameplay, not to mention the fact that you can build your own base, manage your troops, send them to missions, upgrade weapons, gadgest, unlock new ones and so on. Now, that alone is enough for me to buy it (which I already did btw). As for the open world aspect of it... I don't know, it may not be great too, but just like I have said above:But in your original post you said you're going to spend your money on more interesting and better open world games like MGSV which seems that its biggest chief complaint for most gamers so far is the fact that it's open world is mostly just empty and boring while its towns/outposts are well designed.
...and MGSV has a lot of cool ideas/gameplay mechanics etc. that saves the game for me even if open world would not be great. I can't say the same thing about Mad Max and it's that simple.Agent_4Seven said:I just can't stand those types of games anymore (with a very few exceptions when open world either done really well or when they have one or two (or more) cool ideas/gameplay mechanics etc. that saves the game
Mad is not the right word, more like very disappointed that is.It reeks of bias and just an excuse to go in and shit on others excitement because your mad it exists.
Well, I am not forcing anyone not to buy or not to play the game, I just posted my personal opinion and that's it. If you guys like what you've seen so far then go ahead, good for you, who am I to tell you what to do and what to buy (^_^)No one is forcing anyone to buy any single game and your more than entitled to your opinion
I already did just that above and pointed out everything I don't like and everything I like as exceptions. If that is not good enough/consistent opinion then I don't know what else to say.but maybe you should form a consistent opinion on what you like before you start throwing out completely unfounded complaints, it makes you look a bit crazy. But it's all good man. Enjoy MGSV, I will. And I'll enjoy this too it seems.
Assassin's Creed games (pretty much all of them except ACII which is the best game in the whole series in my opinion), Shadow of Mordor, Watch_Dogs, inFamous series, Prototype series, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Mercenaries series, Spider Man games and so on. I'm not saying that majority of games going open world, cuz they are not, all I'm saying is that the wast majority of them is boring and generic. And what also makes me sad is that more and more developers started copying gameplay mechanics/aspects of Ubisoft's games which I despise and can't stand (gameplay mechanics/aspects). If any developers out there is reading this right now - you only hurting your games and making them look boring, unoriginal and generic just like Ubisoft's games so please, stop!Edit: also, what are these boring, generic, open world games that you dislike?
Shit. 50% off on release? That's kind of nuts.
The fighting's not too bad, obviously your movement is more restricted than in Batman and here it's easy to get overwhelmed, so you need to back away more but the basic mechanics are the same. Combo with square, counter with triangle. However, you don't automatically perform a counter attack, you have to press square to attack after countering your opponent's move. Also, holding square performs a heavy strike, but it leaves you open and the timing can be tricky - so far it does feel like Batman combat, but with more of an emphasis on spacing between you and the enemy, rather than just leaping in and zipping about between opponents.
*edit, here's the car bodies you get to pick from near the start; http://imgur.com/a/S760V
Is it gonna be like Sleeping Dogs? Cos I LOVED the combat in that.
It's nowhere near as in depth, as there's pretty much only one combo - square x5. But in addition you have counters (triangle > square) and heavy strikes (hold square), plus it seems quite contextual. If you catch an enemy in the combo and you're against a wall, for instance, Max will automatically pin the enemy against the wall. There's also weapons, mainly the shotgun which you can quick fire with circle or precision aim by holding L1, but also shivs which can be used to finish off stunned opponents with x.
