So why isn't Eric Andre the Joker yet?

I think comedians usually have a surprisingly wide range when it comes to acting. Someone mentioned Tim and Eric acting, watch The Comedy starring Tim, I thought he did a great job.

I believe comedians really put themselves out there so much that they're able to really go for it in dramatic roles.

The trick to casting the Joker it seems is to cast somebody you would never think of as the Joker.
Somebody who acts Jokerish in real life probably wouldn't surprise or amaze anyone.

What the hell about those clips makes you think Joker? They were funny but not once did I think wow this guy would be a great Joker. This is the same kinda casting thinking were people see a bald guy and think he should play Lex Luthor just because he's bald. "Hey wait... he's bald... Lex is bald.... omg I found the next Lex!"

Because he does a lot different things in those clips. He can get real quiet and seem really normal, and explode, and then go back to his original level. He is always weird, but for a second or 2 it seems normal. He's able to do bottled intensity really well. He can make you think he is truly desperate, but is really just trying to ease you back into thinking you are the one with the upper hand. There's a lot he does on his show that could give a director and editor a large palette to paint with. He clearly has no problem experimenting with approaches.

And at least half of the Joker is the writing. You get a good writer and pair that with Andre's abilities and you would have a very memorable take.

Wait... Eric Andre is considered black?

He's half Haitian and half Jewish. No matter how he personally identifies, all that matters to American media and racists on the internet is how you look and/or your heritage. One inkling or one drop of black blood is enough for many to consider you black by default.

He doesn't have tattoos and who knows what that guy looks like without a shirt.

Eric Andre would beast the role. Between his show persona and the few acting roles he's had outside of it I can't believe anyone who says he couldn't. Hell even on the Eric Andre show he can get downright dark and serious.

If a black person would play The Joker, I wonder how they would deal with the makeup. The traditional white makeup of clowns that Joker use could be seen as racially insensitive (whitewashing / reverse blackface). I think Andre certainly could do the chaotic part of the Joker justice. Not sure if he can do a Joker laugh tho.

They could probably just do it like Ledger did, where he's explicitly wearing clown makeup as opposed to having bleached skin.

You've never seen a brother black person play a clown? You couldn't even check google images at least before making this comment, like no one has ever tried this before?

White paint != blackface.

Norm MacDonald for The Joker. Nothing can top that.

He's a big conspiracy theory nut. I think his political views especially on investigating 311 have hurt his career in Hollywood.

Minutes ago I stumbled upon The Eric Andre Show on YouTube. After watching about half a dozen interviews I came to a conclusion: Eric Andre is The Joker. I don't mean that he reminds me of The Joker, not he's like the Joker, this motherfucker is The Joker. Look at this. Look at it.
Ugh...... that.....was terrible and not funny at all.

"Uhhhh, hey Batman! Didja ever, didja ever, uhh, see the devil, uhhhh, dance in the pale moonlight? Didja ever see that? Werr ree hee hee"

Sounds great!

Good thing humor is subjective. Eric Andre's comedy is more for those who love cringe comedy. I can barely make it through a set because it's hard to watch, but I can't deny that it's funny.

For some reason, I could see Marin Ireland being a good female Joker.
She certainly has the whole switch-moods-on-a-dime thing down pat. And she has the right quality of whimsical sociopathy too.

I could see it.

She's going to be Alfred though
Why not both?

Uggggggggggh.

If you hear a snapping sound, that's me putting my face through my desk.

Why not both?

I think we made a breakthrough. Ok so Batman and Joker are both clones, one evil and one good both played by Queen Tilda and Alfred is a gen 1 clone that acts as a father figure to both played of course by Tilda Goddamn Swinton.

The two clone brothers have their falling out when Joker murders his parents played by Tilda and Cate Blanchett and at some point Cate and Tilda kis

... Holy shit. I never considered Eric Andre for the Joker, but he clearly does the whole "make the people I'm working with uncomfortable" thing far better than Leto. That said, maybe it's just because I've watched so much of the Eric Andre show, but I can totally see him nailing the "viciously manic" personality, which would be pretty fun.

He might even eclipse Hammil for me.

EDIT: Wait, no one posted the Jack McBrayer interview yet? The first part alone shows how Eric can come up with his own hellish scenarios, but the speech at the end definitely sounds like a perfect Joker speech.

I think if he did the joker/chat show host-reality tv he would be amazingly evil and fucked up, this could work it would be so creepy and funny and fucked up.

Imagine the freak out by white people if there was a black Joker.

I'm a white people , I would not freak out.
