I mean at the end of the day I agree with you whole heartedly, but I don't think it's really possible to just brush these people aside and keep trucking when we live in a system that affords them tons of political power.

Unfortunately with trump in the WH their lives aren't going to be getting any better and are just going to get worse. It's one of the biggest shames about the election is that Obama did a lot and tried really hard to help these people, but no one ever heard about it during the election because it was more efficient to direct them to a website and drink margaritas with donors in cali than get off a bus and talk to these people like Obama did.

We just really need to focus more into finding a plausible alternative for these people that actually speaks to them. Problem is, what is it? I don't really have a good answer either. Even infrastructure, the magic bullet everyone keeps talking about, is mostly a bandaid.

Be careful that kind of talk on gaf gets ypu called a nazi/klansman/Russian schill.

Cost of solar isn't the question anymore. Grid infrastructure and energy storage is.

Elon musk 'working on' energy storage doesn't mean its economically viable for use yet. It's going to be a while

The question is also efficiency and form factor. Organic solar will allow for different applications and uses.

Wish their site was mobile friendly. Looks like a lot of patents, but I couldn't find any prototypes or anything. Are they past theory and close to production?

I think they're 2-3 years away to having a commercial product but I believe they're proabably going to be getting some military contracts with their tech. Definitely a long play.

Agreed on the site. Hard to read on mobile.

They did just sign a commercial license deal last month with SolAero.

Actually energy efficiency is probably the enemy of renewables. The more demand there is during the day when they're producing the more solar can be sold and not be curtailed.

Curtailment of renewables has become a huge problem globally. It's not an insurmountable problem, but upgrading grid infrastructure is not something that can be done quickly

Pumped hydro is fantastic but again, development time is 10+ years. Not something we can expect soon.

We also need to find a sustainable business model for electricity supply. You can't just shove it to the utility/transmission operator and just let them go bankrupt. Someone needs to pay for grid infrastructure and energy supply. That could be demand response or even virtual power plants using batteries, but it needs to be something.
