I think someone at my work has the codec ringtone, I hear it occasionally in the office...but I don't think it's intentional, seems like it's more a phone's default ringtone than something actually ripped out of MGS.

I, on the other hand, have FFVI's victory tune set as my default ringtone (yes my inner fanboy copied it from Advent Children )...I make sure keep my phone on silent at the office though. I had it accidentally blare out when I was at an anime convention one time while riding in a shuttle, just after a couple of notes of the fanfare people in the bus were looking towards me and started giggling, I quickly cut it off...that, I admit, was a little embarrassing =P

I have a live rock band cover of Go K.K. Rider as my tone. Not even a big animal crossing fan, but what a tune.

I don't think I could ever have the FF victory music or the mario theme or something as my ringtone. I like the ambiguity KK Rider gives me, those that recognise give the geek nod, others just think it's some rock song.
