Someone is trying to hack my PSN...

Thank god for 2 step verification.

Only bad thing is that my phone got like at least 100 verification codes sent to me and it's still going...

Should I be worried that they might log in eventually?

They can't get in without your code, so you are safe. Still, change password and delete any cc info just in case.

Change your password. And if you use that password on multiple accounts, you need to spend the next few hours setting up new passwords on sensitive sites.

I'd recommend a password manager if you haven't used one already.

they would need access to your phone (so probably not)

for more security just change your password...

That happened to me this weekend.

I was able to eventually change my password and remove my CC info, but goddamn it was alarming.

change password REMOVE PAYMENT INFO ASAP, also figure out if you share the password/email combo with any other account because its probably some site that got hacked that led them to try the combo out on psn,
https://haveibeenpwned.com/ check here to find out from a good list where it possibly happened.

If it isn't one of your old device (ps3, psvita) trying to auto-connect but really a hack attempt, you might want to change your PSN login email because that would mean hackers know what email you use to connect.

I have 2-step verification on, so I should be fine.

However, I forgot my password, and I'm trying to reset it. PSN says that my email is correct and is sending me a email about resetting the password, but I haven't received anything yet (been 15 minutes maybe). Should I wait, or should I start getting worried? No payment methods are registered in my PSN, at least.

I had this happen to me a while back and contacted Sony directly. I turned out that there was an issue with the 2-step verification and not someone trying to access the account. I want to say they had me disable and re-enable it, but I can't say 100%. Of course it's never a bad idea to go ahead and change your password as well just in case.

Edit: I was also having trouble logging in and resetting my password. This was all related to problems on their end. Perhaps this is affecting people again.

Do you have another PS console? Could be that someone has just signed in to your account on that device and it doesn't have 2-step activated, I'd check that first before going and changing your email/password on every other site you use (change your PS4 password though). It happen to me, I wasted like 2 hours changing all my accounts only to find out my brother was signed in on my account on his PS4.

THANK YOU! So tired of people wanting pity but not even attempting to protect themselves.

I did, but I made sure to format it before I sold it to a buddy. I'm not sure because he's at work and wouldn't be on in the morning or around the time I was getting codes blown up in my phone.

Been now around 30 minutes, starting to get really worried.

I have two step verification too. And I thank Sony for it for being able to implement it, given how long it took them to allow sub-account to master upgrades, it's quite a feat for Sony Network team. But Sony is a bit heavy handed with their approach. A 6, 7, or even 8 digit number should have been sufficient but no, "XyUrLlO".

Brute forcing is not a problem at all for two step as you can delay the first step as you please after a few mis-trials. Saves on SMS costs too.

My best suggestion would be to change your password into something that needs to be written down on paper. Some hard like oppoprehandlerthompson21563 (Crazy, I know).

Similar happened to mine as well last week. Just 20 spams in 4 hours then stopped. Got asked to change my password today and haven't logged in a while so might have something to do with it.

I know my US account definitely got broken into before I added TSA and can't set it to primary on my console for a few months. Luckily I didn't use credit cards on that account and quickly changed the passwords and added TSA on that.Good thing I can still access the account on my PS4 though.

Can anybody answer any questions about 2 step verification?

I set it up recently and now I'm getting texts saying "Please visit idp.sn/device-password to generate a device setup password to use with your Sony device."

But I already got a password and don't want to set anything up on my phone! And my PS4 is logging in so I don't know what this is talking about

It's your PS3 probably in standby trying to log into PSN after you enabled 2FA (which isn't supported the same as on PS4). Gotta generate another password for it using that link.

Or just disconnect your PS3 so it doesn't try connecting all the time.

Yes I enabled 2FA after seeing a few threads about it here - did it a few months back.

Last week when I was abroad...BOOM...at least 10 SMS in a row with verification codes when I was nowhere near a PS device. Laughed, relaxed, thanked GAF for making me marginally less idiotic than I usually am and changed the living hell out of my PW next time I could.

If I hadn't, fuck knows what would have happened and fuck knows how much upset and distress it would have caused.

In case it isn't clear...ENABLE 2FA AUTHORISATION FOR ANY ONLINE AC WHICH OFFERS THIS!

Do it now...no stop reading this thread and go and do it now. Your peace of mind is worth more than your money which is very valuable indeed.

Still here, do it now fuckwit! Do it do it do it do it then you can smugly post in one of these threads when it happens to you.

A lot of the time when this happens, it's because folks have another system the account is still on (usually PS3) that's trying to auto update or something and hence log into the account, but they haven't logged into yet themselves since enabling 2FA.

That should send you a text saying you need to set up a device password for your device. That's what I got when my PS3 tried to log in. Not a spam of messages.
