Why is classic sonic in the game?

These are mysteries that while could be solved in the narrative, I doubt they will.

So to hazard a guess, Shadow And Chaos are the versions of themselves from their respective games they originated from thus are bad guys. And then you will get the good shadow, and he will team up with you , to fight bad yung shadow. And get tikal to fight....yung ... chaos???

I don't know why everyone is so down on this. I thought general consensus was that Generations was one of the better modern Sonic titles and that Sega should continue to make Sonic games like it and Colors? Personally, I'm down for more Generations-style gameplay, I really enjoyed it.

I do have to admit that the new evil thing is kind of weird looking though.

People are just getting a bit bored of all the slow 2D stuff. generations was good, but in a world where Sonic Mania exists, we don't need Sonic Team padding their games out with Classic Sonic running around an automated, dull version of Green Hill Zone

That and they should hire better writers if they want to sell this game on its story.

Don't see what everyone's freaking out with his design honestly, he looks like a video game villain. Put him in Digimon or anything except Sonic and everyone would think he looks inoffensive

I just really hate the Deadly Six's design so I'm glad they're putting in a Sonic looking villain (even though those Space Jam rejects are still in the game)

Disappointed that the "modern" Sonic is still using the on-rails gameplay.

I love how this term is used by people who clearly don't know shit about what they are talking about. There's rails for Sonic to traverse, but try to only boost into the level and see where will you get.
