Why arent they showing any more modern Sonic stages?
At this point, those are the stages that could save my pre-order.
lol if you think those will look any better.

He gets off a train just to almost get hit by another one complete with obligatory slowmo..
I'm convinced the original pitch for this game didn't have a character creator but instead had Boom Sonic, and was cut after his game flopped hard.
hey guys remember this

If that's a QTE...
...can I just let him get creamed by the incoming train?
It definitely has better lighting than Generations, which had a really oddly flat look to it despite the otherwise fantastic art direction. This kind of has the opposite problem though where everything looks really sterile despite being more realistically lit and colored (see blocky Green Hill Zone with beautiful shiny grass).
Unleashed proper is probably still the most impressive, or it would be anyway if it had been ported to PC.
As much as it pains me to say, Sonic Team is done. They've had enough chances. It's time Sega got a talented team on the main series of their flagship franchise.

Can we all just admit that they need to give Sonic to Nintendo? As much as it pains me to say, Sonic Team is done. They've had enough chances. It's time Sega got a talented team on the main series of their flagship franchise.

Sonic Team are going to have to answer a lot of "why are you not as good" questions at the end of this year one would hope.
Because giving a popular developer the rights to make an entry in beloved franchises worked well for Star Fox and MetroidCan we all just admit that they need to give Sonic to Nintendo?

I'm utterly convinced that Sonic Colours turning out as good as it did was an entirely lucky accident, and SEGA has no idea how it happened.
I don't think I can really anything that hasn't been covered already with the level design. Looks absolutely rubbish.
Director Morio Kishimoto and his crew of designers' previous work before Colors were the Storybook games (Secret Rings and Black Knight). And then they went on to make Lost World and now Forces.
Most of Forces' problematic level design faults (the majority of the gameplay comprised of iblocky stop-and-go 2D --despite being praised as one of the "good" 3D Sonics-- and few 3D levels that are very basic and linear in design) are in Colors as well (though maybe not as obviously poor).
They definitely got lucky once.
Meanwhile Hitoshi Miyamoto, who directed Generations, was regulated to the Mario and Sonic games. And none of Generations' designers (who hadn't worked on past games) were brought back for later titles.

This crap is going to waste all the goodwill gained by Sonic Mania.
Can we all just admit that they need to give Sonic to Nintendo?
The company that's bringing us stellar takes on "modern adventure Zelda" and "modern adventure Mario" must be able to tackle "modern adventure Sonic" right? Nintendo WOULD be able to pull off the REAL Sonic Utopia, I guaran-fucking-tee it.

This doesn't just look like Chemical Plant. They basically took Chemical Plant from Generations and put snow in it. Which begs the question, if they were going to just straight up use Chemical Plant from Generations, why did they make a worse looking new Green Hill Zone?
FWIW the gamespot video labels this as Chemical Plant and includes character chatter and qte prompts during the train sequence

i dont think the stage looks out and out bad but it does look like someone took a sonic colors stage and stripped out all of the puzzles and exploration you would do with the wisps just leaving behind the parts where youre running on a track.

I almost feel bad for Sonic Team. They've been broken.
Sonic Team's motto
Oh my god Silver is in this
Why is Silver in this
Eh, Silver aint that bad. He's far from the worst Sonic character. He was in Generations. Also Sonic 06 (and by extension Silver) somehow has a fanbase.
Silver's future is probably effed up from Eggman taking over the world in the present, and wants to help stop himOh my god Silver is in this
