Sounds to me more like it'll be 2.5D for the levels with 3D bonus levels and bosses, exactly like Rush. And they were all awesome in Rush.Father_Brain said:It sounds like the 3D segments play quite a major role, and there's that developer. I'd be wary of this one.
in search of pirate treasure
Memles said:The most exciting piece of this news is that DS games are starting to use WiFi to the point where it is no longer a big deal when a game has it. It's a positive sign.

Because Sonic Rush sold 1.5+ million while Sonic Rivals bombed.Blablurn said:Why is not for PSP? ;_;

When looking at Sonic's sales history (selling great on Nintendo-systems and mediocre on Sony-systems) and comparing PSP's and DS' sales I don't quite get your question...Blablurn said:Why is not for PSP? ;_;
TreIII said:I wonder about Blaze though...are they just going to conveniently forget about her involvement in Sonic Next-gen and continue from Rush, or what? :lol

..."Cheese"? Maybe that could go for the modern-day games which sport more buttrock, but the oldschool console games had great OSTs (especially both versions of CD, which is my fave game in the series).
jarrod said:Because Sonic Rush sold 1.5+ million while Sonic Rivals bombed.
Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog sold significantly worse (as long as we were able to keep track off their sales at least) on PS2 than on GCN although PS2 has a hardware base which is a multiple of GCN's user base. Sonic didn't bomb on Sony systems (I didn't say that) but it did significantly worse.Magicpaint said:Sonic games have sold great on PS2. It's just Rivals that sort of sold a bit less than normal, but did it actually even bomb?
Of course it's not out of question as Sonic is Sega's most important brand, but you should remember that Sega announced they plan to shift support from PSP to DS so new Sonic games are more likely to appear on DS than on PSP.Anyway, it has taken 1.5 years for use to hear about Sonic Rush Advance and Rivals was only recently released, so a PSP Sonic is not out of the question...
Y2Kevbug11 said:Sonic Rivals is such a bad comparison...cause it was like, bad. But yeah, obviously the DS is the better choice.
Though with the amount of touchscreen functionality (that is, none, if I remember correctly), Sega could go multiplatform. Doesn't matter though.
Sonic Rush was a pretty good game.
Screenboy said:wtf are they doing to sonic?!
Segata Sanshiro said:I'll give you three guess which of the following two I was referring to, and the first two guesses count-ye-not:
1) Great Sega 16bit Sonic music, last seen in Sonic & Knuckles, 1994.
2) Cheesy Sega Dreamcast and Beyond Buttrock and Faux-Rap, last seen in Sonic and the Secret Rings, 2007.

I hope this doesn't mean I'm "gonna get IT!" still, just because I wanted a bit more clarification, but, c'est le vie... *braces for impact*![]()

Segata Sanshiro said:Nah, I save "IT" for enemies of Sega and people who don't play Saturn diligently enough.
Segata Sanshiro said:Well, near as I can tell, they're going to go ahead and make another sidescrolling game with some 3D bonus levels. This is like a loving blowjob compared to what they did with Sonic Next-Gen, so I'm surprised at the outrage.

Sonic Rush Adventure will make full use of the DS Download Play feature and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, which enables gamers to compete with friends in wireless racing and mission-based battles.
Guide Sonic through numerous action stages in the fast and furious single player mode, whilst collecting valuable items and materials that enable Sonic and Tails to track down the villainous pirates.

I hope she wasn't tainted there. I liked Blaze quite a bit.

I spent a humorous hour reading the synopsis on Wikipedia. It reads like terrible furry fanfic.TreIII said:...Only to basically that bit of damage undone, thanks to the crazy game's storyline which had basically timeline resets in its midst, and what-not. Then there's the thing which, according to some joints, say that she's not even the "same Blaze" from Rush, which would only negate the point even moreso...
Yep...I've read DC and Marvel Comics that made more sense than that bit of goobley-gook in Sonic Next gen...
TreIII said:I hope the same, as well. Making him simply Sonic's lil cheerleader last time was lame. I at LEAST would like to have him following Sonic like back in the old days, if not giving him his own playmode again.
Yeah, I agree keep the music composer from Sonic Rush. I suppose we could never get the super awesome music composer from the old Sonic's back, so it's as good as we can get.Segata Sanshiro said:I hope they at least retain the music composer from Sonic Rush. I hope that's just the screens falsely giving the game a bad look. I don't remember Sonic Rush looking really awesome before I saw it in motion. But who knows.Sad_Panda said:...Okay Sega, why does it actually look worse than the original Sonic Rush ?

Heroes and Shadow PS2 sold great in Europe, outselling the GC versions in the UK for sure and probably most other markets (Spain, Scandanavia, Italy, Germany... probably everywhere but maybe France).Magicpaint said:Eh, I don't think the differences were that big. They still sold huge amount of copies on the PS2 (especially in Europe where the PS2 version was the one that garnered most of the sales). Even Sonic Mega Collection Plus sold nearly as much as the GC original.
As much as I LOVE Sonic 2, I honestly felt it added nothing signficant (he landed a few hits and collected a few ring on special stage, but what else?) and was even a bit of a distraction in some ways.Tailzo said:Yeah, it worked perfectly in Sonic 2 / 3. Let him follow Sonic.

MC+ (combined even) didn't sell anywhere near the GC MC though, which cleared well over a million units in just the USA. I think Riders did a bit better on GC overall too.
Who cares what the majority thinks? I'm perfectly capable of deciding for myself what sucks or not... and while Rush came closer to replicating the all important MD Sonic physics, it still wasn't perfect and the level design was raw ass. Nice engine/visuals and awesome soundtrack though, which were the portions developed mainly inhouse.omg rite said:Uh, no. It didn't. Reviews and most gamers will disagree with you.
Yeah maybe I should've said Sonic 3. As he was actually awesome in Sonic 3. the 2 player could help Sonic by grabbing him and flying all around with him. I did like Tails in Sonic 2 too, but he was better in Sonic 3.Magicpaint said:As much as I LOVE Sonic 2, I honestly felt it added nothing signficant (he landed a few hits and collected a few ring on special stage, but what else?) and was even a bit of a distraction in some ways.

leave him as a separate character. It's better that way.
