Sonic Unleashed Trailer/Screens

I suspect that was a combination of Backbone being Backbone, it being Backbone's first Sonic game, and Iizuka getting his grimy claws into the project.

True, but even taking out awful level design and controls, I found the whole QTE->new path gimmick to be pretty terrible in and of itself.

i can't wait in that case, my psx has been gathering dust
I wonder if it's the same dust that's been occupying the empty, unused space in your head.

The music and the speed has me waaaay pumped for this.

And when you land, you keep going! You don't stop and trip like in Sonic2k6! YOU KEEP GOING!

NO STOPPING! SMOOTH!

rawwwwwwwwwwwwr *implodes*

And that may well be, I've never played either of them. I'd like to see them hearken back to the simpler controls of the originals and cut the buttons down to "jump" and "do context sensitive cool stuff". And I guess "boost" too, since that seems to be here to stay.

I think I might've pissed myself. Sonic Team better not ruin this one, it looks like more potential than anything they have spat out in 10 years.

There's a "want / do not want" war going on in my mind everytime I see this game. It looks so good.. but.. it's Sonic Team and it's not on Sega Genesis...

The game looks absolutely beautiful, with fantastic art and incredible music. But, even as a fan of a number of 3D Sonic games (SA1+2, SatSR), it looked pretty dull. But I'm not saying anything right now, it's just a trailer and depending on which level you took from any Sonic game it could have looked just as dull.

Show the Wii version soon please. :(

If the Wii version doesn't look as good as SatSR I'm a goan be pissed. If it looks like that good and can maintain a good framerate... then no problems :D

I'm not sure which version I'll get though. Depends how much the WiiS2 varies from the PS360.

Also, just to be clear, I really hope I'm wrong, and would gladly make myself look like a fool in the future as long as I got to play a really well-done Sonic game on consoles again, but at the same time I'm not going to sit here and hope blindly when Sonic Team has given me absolutely no reason for me to trust that they have any clue what they're doing, and dozens of reasons why I'm pretty sure they don't have a clue.

As a sonic fan since the genesis days, That doesnt want to see sonic fuck amy, blow tails, or rimjob knuckles, Nut on Eggman, fondle Rouge's boobs like the most of the sonic fans, i just want to say

DO WANT. Looks like older sonic like SA1, if so DO WANT REALLY BAD. If it is 100% ONLY on rails then shove it up your ass.

Oh, here's the thread. This trailer looks great but I'll get on the hype train when I see more game play footage with HUD and all.

Right now I'm not too impressed because it doesn't seem like you get to play the game that much. The trailer shows that the game just kinda 'happens' and along the way you get to hit RB, LB, and X.

Sonic and the Secret Rings was easily the best looking Wii game when it was released, I wouldn't mind a small dip if it could push out environments like those in the trailer and still stay stable framerate-wise.

I hope you didn't mean graphically, there's no way the Wii can come even close to that, unless Sega pushed it so hard it was at least Galaxy's level, even then, Galaxy wasn't close to this!

Also, notice that the 360 logo has "Live" on it at the end? Online confirmed?

The Wii better have Wi-Fi in this case, if not, I'm 100% declaring the Wii version half-assed unless Sega gives us a GOOD reason and makes up for it (a good exclusive feature, etc).

Also, I can now understand fully why Dimps is designing the day stages in the Wii and PS2 versions.

The reason? The sheer graphical complexity of the PS360 version's stages.

No way the WiiS2 versions can replicate those stages without them looking HORRID, with ALL of those buildings, and the necessary huge draw distance to boot, it's a no wonder situation!

I just hope the WiiS2 stages share the same theme and lovely art style!

Very likely of course. ;)

Hope either the Wii version is built ground up or ported from the 360 version, and NOT ported up from the PS2 version.

I think it may very well be ground up, notice the COMPLETE lack of any ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of the PS2 version other than it's listing in the announcement?

Proof it's the one that's going to be half-assed in one way or another, it for pure profit.

And that the Wii version is getting quite a bit of exposure in the interviews or whatever.

I believe the whole reason why the game even began on the 360, was due to the engine starting development for the system in 2005, way before Sonic '06 was released!

They had no idea of what Sonic's future would be this gen, so they were optimistic enough to make a high-end next-gen engine for a PS360 Sonic game, they obviously believed that Sonic '06 was going to be a smashing success, boy were they wrong.

I highly believe, that Unleashed will be the deciding factor of Sonic's future this gen as far as platforms go.

Sonic's already had 5 appearances on the Wii, and only two on the PS3 and 360 (not counting Unleashed here).

Wii:

Secret Rings
Mario & Sonic
Zero Gravity
Brawl
Sega Superstars Tennis

PS3 and 360:

Sonic '06
Sega Superstars Tennis

So Sonic ain't leaving the Wii anytime soon.

But if Unleashed sells really poorly on the PS3 and 360, I think it's safe to say that Sonic will be saying "sayonara" to the PS3 and the 360 for good.

Unless there's another Superstars game, those kind of games almost always end up on multiple platforms for maximum profit anyway.

I'm done.

Uh? The Wii can't come close to looking like Sonic and the Secret Rings? Because that's what I said.

This is incorrect, this is using a new engine entirely.

Looks good but do you actually get to control Sonic. It looks like the game controls you way more than any Sonic game in the past.

Oh, sorry, I misread. :P

This is incorrect, this is using a new engine entirely.

The engine I spoke of, is the Hedgehog Engine, which of course is the one being used in Unleashed.

The engine was in development for three years, thus would have started development in 2005.

FAIL.

Sonic Rush HD is NOT %&^(%* SONIC YOU MORONS!!!

Honestly, speed is JUST a thematic not the whole freaking point of the game. I don't get why it's such a difficult concept to grasp. I dunno, maybe that video was wholely unrepresentative of the final game, but FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL!

At least it looks better than Sonic 2006...

What Sonic Team fails to understand is that Sonic isn't a game of speed. it's a game of momentum.

after watching the trailer, this is definitely eye candy but I fail to see the the gameplay

BUT LLOK AT TEH SPEED

Thats what Sonic is all about according to some here. Still if it can pull off Rush's gameplay well, then thats a better deal for Sonic then mpst of the Adventure dreck

Guys, Sonic 1 and 2 gameplay of jumping and bopping is long dead.

Anybody hoping for a game like that may as well give up right now.

This game is Sonic Rush, but on a console. If you didn't like Sonic Rush, then this isn't going to be any different for you.

You didn't have to tell it like it is... I miss jumping and bopping.

Its not on rails, at least not 100% like Secret Rings. Its 2d sidescrolling with certain parts that are on rails, secret rings style.

Also the game still looks like fun, then again I liked Sonic Rush and Rush Adventure.

Me too. My all time favorite Sonics were the first 3.

But, that being said, I really enjoy what Sonic Rush has to offer as well. It's nothing like a 'Sonic the Hedgehog' game, like most of us remember. But it has it's own style that I think is enjoyable.

You know, I want to apologize, in case the developers are reading. I was harsh with my criticism, and I know how much it sucks to hear people tear in to your work. It's just that this generation has filled with disappointments and an utter dirth of platforms, so seeing yet another non-sonic sonic game made me yell much louder than I should have. Just because it's not my sonic doesn't mean it can't be any good, so sorry to the guys/ladies that are working on this, best of luck.

So basically what we are getting here is the Sonic variant of Dragon's Lair/Space Ace. Great....

No...its just got some sections that have action cues. Those buttons most likely can be pressed at any time, its just they give you a heads up when its time to do so. Its not like its 100% timed button scenes.

Personally the ONLY way I see this being a bad game is if the werewolf sections suck. If they make them a decent speed with maybe some strength related portions (Sonic breaking a wall or having to do some Prince of Persia esque swinging puzzles) then that wouldnt be too bad.

I'd agree with that, but I'm still going to hold onto my dreams of a Sonic 2 HD remake. And as long as I'm dreaming, maybe the dreaded werewolf sections will be straightup jumpboppin amazing.

i heard the old composer from the genesis games is coming back, is that true? a good % of what made the genesis sonics great was the score.

Would be pretty cool. And yeah the soundtracks were what made the games memorable.

Also just like any other 2d or 2.5d Sonic game, im sure you will have to take some parts slow. There were many slow platforming sections in Sonic Rush and Rush Adventure.
