Put about 90 mins into it today, will get back to it later tonight. First impressions.
- I think there is some shader comp stutter, it's not as bad as some of the major offenders but you get the odd stutter here and there.
- You can hold the mouse button to chop trees now, don't have to keep pressing it each swing like the first. It's still slower than chopping trees down in VR in the first one, can swing the axe like your dicing carrots in VR with the motion controls.
- map seems way bigger than the first
- not a fan of the new free form building mechanics.
- This is a big one for me, the light sources seem to light caves up MUCH better than the first. I couldn't play the first one during the day (real daytime, as in my room was bright in reality) and go into caves because I just couldn't see a damn thing.
- Every camp I saw had cannibals going about there day, so it's not as easy to scavenge from their camps as it was in the first.
- I havn't got a gun or bow yet so i'm not sure if we get any kind of reticle for them, there was none in the first.
- It has dlss, not sure about other reconstruction methods.
- graphically it's solid, performance seems fine.
- I'm not sure exactly whats going on with the story yet or if it provides any more info on the end of the first, i've really only come across a note on a corpse that mentions site 1 from the first game. I'm being a bit vague here as to not give any spoilers for either game.
- Finding places of interest is much easier with the new gps thing.
If you liked the forest you'll probably enjoy this, if you don't like survival games and get this because it looks pretty your probably wasting your money.
