Sony announces Dualshock 4 USB Wireless Adaptor (PC/Mac)

Ugh Sony is really getting annoying with all this. Just release PC drivers so we can use it wired/wireless over BT in anything. I guess wired will be the only way to use it in Remote Play/PSNow (which I'm super glad is coming to PC) if I don't want to shell out $25 to buy a glorified single-use BT adapter (when I already own one). Maybe DS4Windows will get it working over BT in RP/Now one day.

I use https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007GFX0PY/?tag=neogaf0e-20 with an extension cord (it just rests atop my case) and I've used it with 4 controllers in DS4Windows at once, works fine.

Damn sorry to hear. Have you tried an extension cord? This will give you sufficient power to the dongle

Thanks. Bought it just now. Crossing my fingers hehe.

I've been saying Sony should put PS Now on PC for a long time. It really opens up a huge potential audience that will give it a shot. Like I've said before, I think they should just turn the current Remote Play app into a do-all PlayStation App for PC/Mac. Meaning it would do Remote Play, PS Now, PS Store, PS Vue, PS Video, PSN features (such as friend's lists/messages/trophies viewer), Live From PlayStation viewer, social media integration, etc.

So like $35 in Canada? I'd be willing to pay maybe $10. Ah well, guess I'll remain corded when relegated to the PC screen for PS4 play.

Awesome! I really hope more games start putting in the PlayStation button graphics, too.

Why would I even need this at all? DS4 works via Bluetooth already. I wonder if Sony will just publish drivers I could get?
Not everyone has (compatible) bluetooth in their PC? Believe it or not, there are products in this world that are made with other people in mind than just you.

25 is alright I guess, but most people game on their computer Less than a meter from the screen. The cord isn't a big deal. Motionjoy is really ok now as well. Guess if you got the 25 bucks and can't be bothered to setup motionjoy this is for you.

As someone that uses standard bluetooth and a DS4 very regularly this ... really isn't an issue. Turn your controller off when you're done playing.

I've had PS3 controllers that have sat out for literally years without a charge and they work just fine once recharged.
Is this a different story with the DS4?

I seriously doubt you have controllers that sat uncharged for years that still work.

----

DS4Windows works perfectly fine for me.

I thought everyone liked the Xbox Elite controller better.
It's also like $150 and is no good if you want to use the Claw finger position since the D-Pad's underneath rather than above the analog stick.

And some of us probably like to juggle based on which suits a game best.

Oh, but I do.

I don't use the PS3 as frequently as I used to but when I do I just grab a controller from the box, and charge it up. Some of these haven't been used for literally years.

The dongle is kinda cool i suppose. But personally i just plug my DS4 into my Mac when i want to remote play, seeing as im only gonna be sitting a couple feet away.

Is this X-input?

lol no. Sony would never allow DS4 to be used ingame with Xbox button icons.

"You may also be able to use the Adaptor and DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller with some Windows PC/Mac games, but we cannot guarantee compatibility."

This more or less confirms that wireless DS4 will continue working as DirectInput device outside of PSnow/RP apps. Some games will use that, some will only work with Xinput.

We'll, this is obviously unnecessary and overpriced but at least they're doing something for pc gamers.

Also without xinput support this is extremely bad designed.

But this will actually deliver drivers from Sony which could be reused for the community drivers!

Headphone jack audio is a really need feature and it's missing in the current drivers.

again, are you sure you can use 2 PS3 controller in the same bluetooth usb dongle?
everyone said you can only use 1 per 1 usb dongle.

Is this a joke?
I mean a single standard bluetooth stick can connect up to 4 devices (DS3, DS4 and PS3 Movement controller) wirelessly and with xinput support.
They work flawless in any game I've tried that work with 360 pads (even in combination with them).
With the drivers you actually have way more control of the controller and it's behavior than with a regular 360 pad which is really nice.
The only good thing about this are the drivers which are going to be repurposed and enhanced by the controller driver community.

SCP? Oh man I'm so glad to see other people using that amazing software!

It's not the latest version (which is also excellent, installs everything you need) but it works perfectly fine and I don't need the touchpad support and rather have support for all Sony controllers I have.
Worked with 8, 8.1, 10 and Anniversary updated 10 flawlessly.

Nah. With the DS4s battery, I'd rather just keep it plugged in.

PS4 connections on pc through the usb are really finicky and a lot of games will stop recognizing it if it drops once. Wireless, even when connected for power, is the way to go. Which is exactly how it works on ps4.

Hope this means drivers, I don't care about using a usb cable but all the different programs to make the DS4 work are the most fiddly shit I've ever used, I can never get it working.

My last Bluetooth dongle isn't supported by windows 10. Even when it was the fucking thing dropped connection every 5 seconds. What's a good replacement?

This one, probably? If you're gonna fork over 10 bucks already I'd probably bite the bullet and spend a bit more to deal with less of a hassle.

I mean, the one that worked for me was just a random well reviewed 10 dollar one from Amazon. I'll be sticking with that. But for people that have had issues or don't have one, I can see this being an attractive option.

Apparently this one only supports one controller. :/

What do you expect these drivers to do? The DS4 is plug and play. Games can support it natively. If your definition of "drivers"=Xinput support that is never going to happen because the DS4 violates so many of the licensing requirements.

Sad you have to post this in every thread related to DS4 on PC.

To all the driver whiners. The DS4 has drivers. They are direct input drivers. An API that MS depreciated in favor of xinput so they could standardize their controller and their controller layout to be the defacto PC standard. Take a look an every single xinput controller on the planet and you will notice that they all have the same basic button nomenclature and color scheme. Why would sony make xinput drivers for a device that doesn't comply with the xinput spec?

That's interesting, maybe devs can get a hint out of these dongles in how to enable the headphone-jack via DS4Windows and Input Mapper :o

DS4Windows essentially makes the DS4 the best comfy couch PC controller. Only bad thing about it is there is no DirectInput support over bluetooth.

That's the only reason I don't have InputMapper autostart and enabled 24/7, I need my PS button-prompts in Rocket League :(

Well that may be. But I'm just sick of missing button prompts and the DS4Windows tool is always having problems with exclusive mode. Sometimes because Steam is already running before DS4Windows is and other stuff (anniversary "update" *cough*). It doesn't work to a degree where I never have to care. I want it to work flawlessly when booting my Desktop via WOL and stream games to the HTPC connected to my TV. No exclusive mode problems etc..

Oh yeah and of course Microsoft sucks for crippling Dinput. But that's nothing new.

EDIT: If someone has a extensive guide I would be very thankful. I have a DS4+charging station right next to the TV and would love to use it. Beats buying batteries all the time.
