Sony has officially licensed two third-party manufacturers to develop "pro controllers" for the PS4.

As outlined on the PlayStation Blog, peripheral manufacturers Razer and Nacon collaborated closely with Sony on the following DualShock 4 alternatives, both due later this year in the UK and Europe

The Razer Raiju includes:

Two extra bumpers and two extra detachable triggers
Built-in control panel on the front of the controller
Trigger-stop switches and hair trigger mode for ultra-fast trigger responses
Two custom profiles which you can instantly switch between and modify
3.5mm headset jack and dedicated headset volume and mic mute controls
Detachable analog stick rubber caps which provide extra grip during intense gaming sessions
Compatibility with all PS4 systems via the braided 3m-long USB cable - detachable for easy storage

Comparatively, the Nacon Revolution Pro Controller features includes:

46 degree amplitude dual analogue sticks, enhanced with innovative firmware for advanced eSports accuracy and reach
Four extra shortcut buttons
Eight-way directional pad
Four custom profiles - all configurable via the companion PC application, enabling players to: re-map buttons, assign macros to the four shortcut controls and adjust analog and trigger sensitivity
Two internal compartments with six additional weights - for a tailored balance and feel
Compatibility with all PS4 systems via the 3m-long secure connection USB cable - detachable for easy storage

Sony noted that both controllers will work with any model of PS4

They need to stop licensing controller peripherals and make their own. For example the licensed remote control was crap. Maybe at least make the PS3 remote compatible with PS4.

DIdn't MS say they spent like 100 million on their elite controller? No wonder Sony would not bother with that kind of thing and license these kinds of things out. Of course, those third parties are gonna do things cheaply

No idea if these are coming to the states but razors first attempt making a console controller (xbox 360) didn't go well. The controller had so many issues. However their second attempt with the Sabertooth was much better. (and for some reason this controller is now selling for 200-300 bucks)

i'd buy either if they have a larger battery. my ps4 controller battery is so bad i keep it plugged into a portable usb charger while im playing

The Nacon one looks like a typical third party controller.

The Razer one looks solid, but given the branding it will die after a year and cause someone to have to restart a match on stream at Evo or something.

Please die in a fire asymmetrical-stick controllers.

I can't wait to receive flak for my comment.

Also, I think both controllers have appealing aesthetics. What's so bad about them?

Nope, that was what they spent on the OG XB1 controller.

Not a fan of 3rd party controllers as they feel very cheap. Then again, i'm not a fan of a 180$ elite controller either.

I prefer Sony to make the Dual Shock more solid for the same price as it is now, better sticks and battery would be a start. Otherwise the DS4 for me is almost perfect, feels really good in my hands.

As for the elite, i tried it and i love it, it does have some cool stuff that makes some tasks easier to accomplish but honestly, i would never spend that kind of money on a controller, it's just insane. But i like that Microsoft are at least giving the option unlike Sony.

More people with online advantage over me, Scuf was already OP af, if you are playing with a player of your skill gap wich I usually am not since I'm way higher than most console players on pubs, but still sometimes I get owned because those guys using those controllers have huge advantages specially in Black Ops 3 since you can jump and shoot at the same time.

And still not fully wireless.

I would be a little more interested if they were wireless.

Throw my vote in the 'I want wireless' bucket.

Wired means no sale.

As someone that predominantly plays games on my Xbox One, I would be throwing money at the Nacon Revolution Pro Controller ....if it supported wireless play.
This is incredibly frustrating to finally see a legit asynchronous stick layout that looks like a quality build...but not see the most important requisite in the entire conversation: wireless functionality.
C'mon, Sony!

Oh, how many threads are there for these controllers?

Anyway, here's my thoughts on these controllers... the razer doesn't look great and is not ergonomic at all. The Nacon, has the right idea on the back button placements, but unsure why they went with 4 button shortcuts?

I don't like the razer because it reminds of the placement of scuf paddles, which felt great at first but I got another controller and in my opinion, the placement of the scuf paddles are not ergonomic in comparison.
