Stock is after reaching 111.79 dollars per share, resulting in a market cap closing in on 140 Billion.
It's highest since 28/8/2000.

Edit: Up to 138.9 now.

Edit 2: Sony is now Japans third most valuable company. Only Toyota is above them. (Edited to say 'Third', website was incorrect)

Great to see Sony as a whole doing well.
The last thing anyone wants is for one of the Great Electronic giants to disappear.
This is fantastic news.
Play Station definitely helping Sony out.
Now all we need is a return to form in the rest of their electronics. I remember when Sony TV's were the best in the business.

Their electronics did really well this quarter, I think they had the most profit of all businesses..... check out the report!

I agree. I’m in need of a new TV and I definitely want to buy Sony. They need to provide the goods.

The report I read stated that electronics was basically flat year over year.

I think Sony can see a lot of improvement in electronics if they up their TV game.
I'd like to see Sony produce the Best TV's again. Right now they are not the clear cut best the way that Sony used to be in the 80's and 90's. For example all their current TV's should have all the HDMI 2.1 features out of the box. There is definitely tons of room for improvement here.

Their TVs are up there with the best. X90 is one of the best non OLED TVs

Absolutely but there was a time when you knew you were getting the best TV if you bought a high end Sony TV.
Now they launch TV's without all the features available out of the box. People shouldn't have to wait for updates to get all the features. Considering Samsung, LG, Vizio and TLC have these features available day 1 when you buy their TV's.
Sony needs to be just as aggressive with their electronics as they are with the Play Station brand.

Revenue was flat but operating income (profit) increased quite a bit.

HDMI 2.1 has just been a shit show, there are issues on a lot of TVs not just Sony. LG C9 and CX have gamma issues with VRR for example. Samsungs have had issues with displaying HDR at 4k120

So I don't see why Sony is suddenly not producing great TVs because the feature roll-out of HDMI 2.1 was a mess across the board

Not only that, but their own panels and professional equipment has gone down from what they were before. Heck, AOC, LG, and Samsung make better panels, while Sony just makes good electronics driving "okay" panels.

I still remember when Sony was the go-to option when one wanted to have the best in class TV, which were quite similar to the ones used in professional broadcast. Now that's history =(

I think they use LG OLED's, they don't make their own anyway.

Sony really are specialists in image processing more than anything and their smoothness of motion and colour accuracy seem to be the reasons to buy them now. But mostly on the highest end.
