Sony doesn't allow Fallout 4/Skyrim mods on PS4

After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition.

Like you, we are disappointed by Sony’s decision given the considerable time and effort we have put into this project, and the amount of time our fans have waited for mod support to arrive. We consider this an important initiative and we hope to find other ways user mods can be available for our PlayStation audience. However, until Sony will allow us to offer proper mod support for PS4, that content for Fallout 4 and Skyrim on PlayStation 4 will not be available.

We will provide an update if and when this situation changes.

Apparently this could be the issue or part of the issue

FYI, these were the reasons brought up a few months ago when they said mods would be delayed:

PC textures are used. Memory and performance issues may occur. We are working with Sony on optimal texture exporting support in a future update.
Sound files are currently not supported. PS4 sound format is a proprietary format. We are working with Sony on sound file processing support in a future update.
PS4 Mod Storage limit is approximately 900 MB at present. Please do not upload mods larger than 900 MB. We are working with Sony to increase this limit."

I Platinum'd this game and I was expecting mods and this happened. Great. Guess I'll switch over to Steam for this title. *sigh*

One of my favorite games this gen too.
Well they gotta find another way to raise PS+ for a year another 10 dollars and they can't raise it again so soon.

Just wait a few months.

Joking but, who knows at this point.

dammit I knew I should have bought Fallout on the xbox instead.

And I bought it digitally too. So long Fallout 4.
I'd love to hear Sony's response to this. The phrase "Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work" implies there might have been a compromise solution.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
What reasons would make Sony say no to mods?

Thats what im interested to know. Usually MS was all about restriction but....first EA access, cross-plattform PSN/XBL online multiplayer and now Mods. What happened to 4 the players ?

Its not a big deal to me personally...just weird that Sony is being more restrictive nowadays, since they used to be more open than MS - who would even let MMOs on their consoles.

Wow, what a boneheaded move from Sony. Makes me glad that I'm getting another GPU instead of upgrading my PS4. Bethesda really took them to task.
