Sony E3 2017 Conference Thread [Over]

If not for Bethesda, this easily would have been the worst E3 press conference of the year. No new information (apart from some VR stuff), a lot of 'filler' games, and extraordinarily awful stream quality made for a really bad experience. 3/10 for sure, big bummer...

I feel like I watched a completely different show from the rest of GAF. Freaking legit next gen monster hunter game and remake of one of my favorite games of all time SOTC. Yea that was really all of the surprises but the other games that we seen before continue to get me hyped for their releases. Also of course all the exclusives that were shown are early 2018, Sony just had 6-7 exclusives already release with Ni no Kuni, hot shot golf, and knack all hitting in the fall. What exactly are you guys complaining about that 10-12 AAA exclusives hitting ps4 in one year.

I would have preferred if they had cut out some of the games and actually came out to talk about others. Even though I know Nintendo is pretty much going all in on Mario, at least I know they'll talk about it. Game trailer after game trailer isn't for me.

Lol savage

My Sony - Hopes and Dreams:

- Open with a man with a violin an a woman with a black dress singing a very dark tune
- Bloodborne II - Teaser
- Shawn Layden appears with a Jak and Daxter shirt (teasing a remake)
- Spider-man - Gameplay trailer
- Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite - Full cast trailer
- Monster Hunter 5 - In Engine Trailer
- Call of Duty WW2 - Gameplay demo and exclusive content
- Red Dead Redemption 2 - Story trailer
- God of War - Full trailer

- The Last of Us 2 - Gameplay trailer (like the first one from TLOU 1)

Not so bad with my bingo.

EA: F
Microsoft: F
Bethesda: C+
Devolver: 91
Ubisoft: B
Sony: C-

what a meh E3. At least Spider-Man looks incredible. And that GT trailer was amazing. But...yeah.

Not too happy with this E3 overall from all parties.

Sony conference was more of the same...Showed mostly trailers of games we saw trailers for last E3. SOTC remake was a hype moment and awesome, and of course spiderman looked great....but nothing 2017 wise. I was waiting for spiderman or god of war or even days gone to show 2017.

No sucker punch or Last of Us part II....I guess we wait till PSX.

I just really don't want to see a majority of these games at E3 next year for the third straight year.

I honestly thought it wasn't too bad. Great gameplay for GoW, Spidey, Days Gone, and Shadow of the Colossus remake announced. New Monster Hunter looked promising. I think all they were missing was one final thing to end on instead of Spidey, which could have been From's game or Suckerpunch's game.

With just one of those two games I think people would be claiming this conference as the "winner".

Well that was...unexpected. MS conference looks...solid? now. I'm trying to be objective right here.
Talking about the big three, let's see what Nintendo brings to the table.

Nothing megatons this year but site remake has me by the balls just one of the best games to just roam around in can't wait for that

Spider man also looked excellent

Also don't understand the skyrim shit please fuvking stop it isn't that good a game

Also gt fuck year

Average conference this year

Why even have a conference if all your going to do is show trailers?

Very boring.

Some really awesome games Im gonna buy though.

Yeah they should have shitty dancing on stage and nerd jokes.

Hopefully Pele 30 minute interview next year. Fuck the games.

Everything was 2018.

Save for God of War and Spiderman, pretty meh conference. Oh, and they got nothing for Q4.

Well they paid a lot for the marketing rights for Destiny 2, Battlefront 2 and COD, I am sure they are going to ride that wave all through the holiday with different bundles. They will most likely kick ass in sales with those bundles.

Is it weird that the game I'm most looking forward to is Moss?

That looked great. I'm so interested. And I agree it was really good to see them still pushing VR after we bought headsets.

And Star Child's art style interests me too.

Mine would probably be Colossus among the new new stuff. That was a megaton for me.

Sony's issue is that most of the cats are out of the bag now

It was pretty much as I expected. After two of the best E3 conferences ever, a lull was to be expected. You can't keep up that momentum

Still an insane lineup, but E3s are valued more for surprises than quality of content. Doesn't help that they are now diluting content between E3 and PSX.

A TLOU2 reveal would have gone down a treat here. Even the gameplay unveiling. But I guess they wanted Uncharted expansion to get its own limelight? Though that also could have been held back for unveiling here

Hopefully Nintendo has some great reveals

Also the production quality was fucking terrible. Someone needs to be fired. Skipping, sound drop outs, terrible camera angles.

No release date for Detroit. Still no Dreams shown. No FF7 Remake (I guess I should'nt have expected it since they're still hiring ppl for the dam game). Man... it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. I'll get GoW, Detroit (whenever the fuck that is), Spider-man, and The Inpatient. All of those are next year though except The Inpatient, right? Ugh :/

Edit: Wrong, it was Hidden Agenda, not The Inpatient. Sorry, they had THREE SuperMassive games there so I got them confused, lol. Man, that team is putting in work!

Overall, 7/10. The best conference I've seen this year but not by much. (I didn't get to watch all of Bethesda and Ubi's though so I can't speak to those). VR should not have taken up as much of the conference as it did. Spiderman and God of War were jaw-droppingly good, Shadow of the Colossus HD looks incredible, Days Gone makes me more excited the more I see of it... but there wasn't much else there.

Considering we're used to megatons from Sony, it makes sense they were bound to have an off year eventually. Everyone is busy working on stuff at the moment. But still, after Sony's conference, it's hard to shake the feeling that this E3 hasn't been stacking up so well compared to past years.

Overall I would give this conference an 7/10

It had the usual good presentation that we've seen from Sony but in terms of games it was pretty predictable. We already knew we would see more God of War gameplay and we already knew we would see more Spiderman gameplay, also more Days Gone. There was some small surprises here and there with Shadow of the Colussus and Monster Hunter World but overall it was really whatever.

Also it's worrying that all of these games are coming in 2018 meaning Sony's Fall 2017 in terms of First Party is gonna be slim pickings. Probably gonna be relying on those 3rd party deals to make it through the year.

Overall this E3 hasn't been the best.

In comparison to the previous E3, it would be disappointing, but it's a solid conference on its own.

Some surprises, and there were some good, meaty gameplay.

It was an underwhelming show. But it easily beats everything else so far. Shadow and Spider-Man trumped everything anyone else showed, with the exception of Life is Strange.

Does that even qualifies as a LIVE Press Conference?

It was nothing but trailers. What's the point of doing it live?

And only two brand new game announcements?

What is this, a Nintendo Direct?

Shadow of the Colossus, God of War, Detroit, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and Spider-Man all looked really impressive and I can definitely see myself purchasing all of those

Monster Hunter looked decent, will need to see more footage

The VR stuff was a snooze-fest

Days Gone would have been really on-trend and interesting three or four years ago

Not a bad conference but absolutely NOTHING to write home about.

not bad not great. The best games they showed I'll be buying on Xbox One X though including Destiny and COD i don't care about that stuff and won't be double dipping on Destiny this time since the exclusives are not worth it over my prefered shooter controller and the extra power of the X.

No big bombshells this year but Uncharted, Detroit, God of War, Days Gone, SotC remake and Spider-Man all look great.

Looks like they are saving some things for PSX later this year.
