Sony E3 2017 Conference Thread [Over]

Conference was fine. SotC remake, lots of new footage, and some neat VR titles. They have TGS and PSX to show off more, so I'm fine with this.

Why all the hate for PSVR? As an owner, I was happy to see new content for it and especially excited for Skyrim VR and Moss. Its like damned if you do, damned if you don't for them in regards to showing support for PSVR. Such toxicity.

Posting this one last time for those continuously asking:

Crash Bandicoot N'Sane Trilogy, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Everybody's Golf, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Yakuza Kiwami, Ni No Kuni II*, Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Lands, Hidden Agenda, Gundam Versus, Knack 2 and Gran Turismo Sport are the exclusives for the remainder of 2017.

*console exclusive

Also Pyre, Hellblade, MatterFall, per my list here.

Ya know, the most disappointing thing to me during the conference was when the bungie screen came up. Halo was my life back then and now bungie just means I just don't care now.

I am not an Xbox fanboy but it's my preferred system. And I can't even begin to fathom how anyone can say Sony didn't smash that Xbox conference in to the ground. Everything they showed was exclusive to their brand and showed what the power of PS4 pro could do.

I wasn't that impressed. SoTC, GoW, and Spiderman were the highlights. Really wish the DMC rumor was true. Or something from FromSoft that wasn't Soulsborne.

Edit:
That game with the mouse protagonist... Also loved that.

The lack of release dates was the real disappointment.

You can show me all the games you are working on, but you are wasting my time for making wait this long. FFS Detroit doesn't even have a release year and that was announced in 2015.

Overwhelming pessimism since e3 started on this site I legit been enjoying every conference game wise idk what ppl wanted from each publisher but shit o well I'm hyped next up Nintendo

I think Sony and MS have a similar problem which is all of the best looking stuff seems to be multi plat.

So while it's great to show some amazing looking games, everyone sort of shrugs and realizes they can get it anywhere.

I think Sony had a good enough show but is clearly paying the piper for throwing haymakers the last two years. Both in expectation setting and not having enough new stuff to show.

Sony barely showed any multiplat games though..?

It was an alright conference
Lots of 2018 games which is a slight bummer but can't rush these things.
Spider-Man was kinda rough but it'll be polished by its release date.

There's a behind closed doors demo of lost legacy with the characters meeting the main villain. (Assad?) He might have let that one accidentally slip, lol.

Insomniac/spiderman on stage now.

Good show, though not up to last year's standards. Shadow of the Colossus remake was my dream come true. Spider-Man looked amazing. Days Gone looked great. The VR stuff was really good. God of War trailer was insane.

B+

God of War looks pretty damn good, and I'm not even a fan in particular of the franchise.

Nothing earth shattering, but solid E3 from Sony nonetheless.

Honestly, even though I'm not the biggest fan of their games from a subjective standpoint, I have to say Bethesda has had the best E3 presser so far from a objective standpoint.

OK and Sony showed MH and SOTC remake, it's not like nothing new was shown, but at least Sony's stuff was exclusive so there is a lot of added value for that, unlike MS's stuff.

It's not like I'm denying it was disappointed, it's a really weak ass E3, but MS dropped the ball so hard that even a mediocre Sony show was still better.

The only surprise for me was SotC. Everything else was just, idk. That's just my opinion. I wasn't hyped for anything.

Pretty straightforward conference I guess. SotC remake was definitely fantastic. Appreciated the new footage for Spider-Man and Uncharted. Nothing else that I'm planning to buy, but interesting footage anyway. Days Gone actually looks pretty cool, but I'm just so over zombies right now.

On the VR side of things, VR is tech that will just never be for me, but Supermassive's new horror game was definitely looking good and the mouse game looked interesting.

Don't really know what this is supposed to mean. Do you know something I don't? How do you know that it's not similar to Horizon for example? Or are you just shitting on this game for no reason?

I've absolutely no idea what on earth you mean by this?

Would you care to expand your thoughts as to why?

Judging from the two gameplay demos that have been shown publicly, it looks really basic. Aside from the zombie horde physics, most of it is the same "approach base, attempt stealth kills, fuck up, initiate firefight" loop that we've seen in every third-person action adventure game in town. With some sequences where you mow down a lot of zombies. The second the player character tossed a rock to lure an NPC into a trap that he placed in a bush, I was rolling my eyes.

It just feels like a refinement of existing gameplay styles, rather than anything new in the genre. Though since I have similar complaints about Horizon, it just might be my personal perspective.

I just find it hard to look at Days Gone and not see the same stlye of game I've been playing every Fall for the past three years.

On Reflection I feel better about the conference. No huge surprises like we've come to expect, but exclusive games looked ace.

Game of show type presentations/moments
God of War
Spider-Man
Shadow of the Colossus

Looking damn good as expected
Uncharted Lost Legacy
Horizon DLC
GT Sport (pre-show)

Looking very promising
Days Gone
Matterfall (pre-show)

I'd put God of War and Spider-man as the best two things shown at E3 overall.

8.5/10

Because they didnt? Sony's conference was way more dry than Ms. At least MS has some exclusives coming this fall. Sony has what? Dlc and Knack 2

Took the words right out of my mouth. Show this forum to outside eyes and they'd swear it's a big group of people who hate games.

I understand disappointment is a real thing but still, lighten up folks! Sorry things weren't what you convinced yourselves they would be.

I've a feeling a few of these games were shown on the base ps4 too. God Of War was...

Peter parker is 23 years old and this is a new universe developed together with marvel. Demo was early in game. "Peter parker is represented very well in this game, it's as much about the man behind the mask."

It's irritating because so many were saying, "It's DOA! Next Vita!", but then when they give it attention, everybody is upset.

As someone who paid $499 for this hardware, they better be showing me the games to justify my purchase.

And they did, so I am satisfied.

What's FromSoftware up to?

Yeah, thought we'd see something from them. Seems like it's been consistently one game a year for awhile now. Needed to recharge their batteries, I guess.

Day 1.

God of war
The Lost Legacy
Shadow of the Colossus

Dropped the ball.

Spiderman
Detroit

MIA

Devil Mar Cry 5
Sucker Punch
FROM

Glad it wasn't there.

Death Stranding
The Last of Us Part 2

Continues to be lackluster

Days Gone

And rest i don't remember, VR stuff & COD I guess. Cool...

I think its an expected reaction to think that this was underwhelming after the last two years. Its only natural that people will compare it to that and when put side to side this simply wasnt as good (which was expected honestly, there is only so much Sony can show).

But looking at it apart from that, it certainly wasnt bad. No long talks, no cringy moments, great production for the show (live music, light show, water, snow falling etc), lenghty gameplay for the big games, all genres covered to some extent, some VR... It was all there. It just lacked the true megatons we've seen on PSX and E3 15 and 16.

Wow, I thought that was solid yet underwhelming as well. I understand that'd rather show some stuff that's soon. It's been the trend since Bethesda's first conference. Can you at least give us a bone here?

One was longer, had way more content and because of that probably had more interesting content for most people. I mostly stick to PS and PC but despite PS having more exclusives, I was more tuned in to MS's this year despite the fact that I'm playing all of the games they showed on PS and PC.

It's just like Xbox hate. People don't have one so people hate it. Gamers are selfish. Things better fail if they don't have it.

OK. You are talking like somebody is forcing you to play it... I think it looks great because I like third person action adventure games. Sure TR, Horizon, Uncharted, Last of Us all are kind of the same, but I don't see how Days Gone is any less exciting than Metro for example (there's literally a bear in both of them). It could be shit, but from what was shown I don't think it's clear which will be better.

No, just E3 and PSX.
That was just last year.
This year they have many exclusives from Europe that haven't gotten the light of Day at E3.

I feel Gamescom is back (hope).

Dreams
WilD
Hellblade...

Probably for Japanese titles (like NNK2) and Indies that got bypassed too.

Edit: yeah the hate on PSVR is laughable.
The same people would probably dump on Sony from great heights for "abandoning their product as Sony always does" if nothing had been shown.
