Sony E3 2017 Conference Thread [Over]

It was alright to good, but not great. Monster Hunter and Shadow of the Colossus looked good, and I'm happy about the story demo of MvCI. Spider-Man was sort of underwhelming, and wasn't interested in anything else. Sony is in 2nd place right now for me, if only because Ubisoft had slightly more interesting content and everyone else just sucked for the most part.

Hoping Nintendo will pull through with some good announcements but I won't hold my breath.

lol wow that was limp as fuck. Sure Shadow of the Colossus remake has me hyped, but man what a boring show. Monster Hunter looks cool. GOW and Spiderman look amazing.6-10.

Underwhelming is an understatement. I don't get why Days Gone exists.im not interested in more Uncharted or Horizon. I'm not sold on God if War. PSVR continues to dumbfound me.
A third release for Shadow of the Colossus. Nah.

Spidey and Monster Hunter are the big wins tonight.

Hmmm...I was hoping for JRPG announcements (maybe even a DQ localization announcement :)) and DMC5. Haven't actually played DMC before but I've come to enjoy character action games through Bayonetta, so that would've been a cool announcement for me.

So I think they don't have enough to fill 3 shows a year with new content. That really lacked oomph. I mean, I get that they need to get these games out and next year should be all new content, but really...why are they cutting it so short? They should have moved preshow content into the main show. Ninokuni could use stage time. But then again they showed that at PSX.

I guess you do have to remember they have 3 shows...

Bringing developers out on stage is the secret to compelling the audience to actually clap regardless of the game looking interesting or not. Lots of awkward silences on the crowd shots with the video roll here.

I haven't been particularly into the kind of AAA action games or VR this show was all about so wasn't too exciting for me without any big announcements.

I was pretty happy with it. MH and SotC were bombshells for me and the games I knew about look pretty great. Would have liked DmC5 but I'll take what I can get.

Main surprise I'd say is Shadow of the Colossus. Besides that, it was more of what we knew existed and some vague dates. It was nice to watch, but nothing blew me away since there was nothing new.

And no From Software. Lame. Overall, a weak year for E3.

Obviously it wasn't close to being as good as Sony's last 2 years, it was still cool, still best conf yet but that's not too hard.

Was worth is for SOTC remake alone, but other than that hardly any new stuff.

I'll give it a 7/10

EA 2/10
MS 3/10
Beth 3/10
Ubi 6/10

That wasn't good. GoW and Spider-Man were amazing and Shadow of the Colossus was great, but I wanted more surprises.
I think even the bad conference of Microsoft was somehow better than this. At least it had Metro: Exodus and Anthem.

Uncharted, Detroit, Spider-Man and God of War all looked amazing but these games were revealed last year. This E3 really lacks the Wow factor.

We get to look forward to those meh looking games and we cant get a warhawk or socom remaster.

Console games are just turning into big graphical piles of fluff. QTEs in the show piece. Press square to spiderman

No Media Molecule, No Sucker Punch? WHERE THE FUCK WAS BORDERLANDS 3?

I knew they weren't gonna be able to top last year, but HOLY SHIT, at least TRY.

That was one weird conference, camera was horrible, not many Japanese games as Shawn hinted, crowd wasn't amused, both crowd, viewers and PlayStation themselves didn't know whether the show is ending or more games coming.

I mean the quality of the games on display were crazy and Spider Man looked even better than i imagined but there wasnt really any surprises unfortunately. And when the hell is Detroit coming out? They cut away.

Lots of good stuff, but at least 30 minutes shorter than I thought. Overall not bad, but meh compared to the last two years.

This E3 was definitely a "next year will be better" E3.

This is what happens when you announce games too early.

Imagine if this were the first time we saw GoW4, Days Gone, Detroit, Spiderman. Instead they announced those early and thus while they look good, we want new stuff.

Spiderman looked fantastic.

Overall a really good conference. A lot of interesting showings. Not a lot of new games, but a lot of gameplay demos and new aspects of games that we haven't had before.

Should have moved some VR titles to the preshow and moved some to the show. The Gran Turismo trailer and Matterfall should have been in the show.

Awesome games. but what I liked most is that Sony showed a lot of VR support, SoTC looked amazing, and God of War is the best looking game I have ever seen.

5/10. The quality of the stream was really bad, random stutters and some of the videos they were showcasing were playing in X2 speed. A lot of games for 2018 but not 2017, monster hunter world was the thing worth the hype from me.

Microsoft won, right?

Eh, not really, just a bit underwhelming like MS', but with better highs. Most of those bigger games were exclusive except probably Monster Hunter (even if we've known about a bunch of them before).

But yes MS did have more games.

They really should have made a longer conference showing more of the stuff we know they have, even just fan favorites like Ni no Kuni and Crash now that they have full dates.

The thing I'm surprised by was no S-E game at all in there.

Funny how the casual game enthusiasts I follow on twitter are HYPE AS FUCK about this conference and everyone on NeoGAF is shitting a brick.

Interesting observation

The crowd just sitting there waiting for that One More Thing sums it up.

The Detroit footage was minutes too long and looked terrible (surprise!), Days Gone looks bad, fucking Skyrim was the highlight of the VR showing, Monster Hunter World looks like an offshoot done by a B-tier team and Spider-Man looks like a linear QTE fest and it's developed by Insomniac so at best it's a solid 7.5.

What an embarrassing showing and what a poor E3. Guess this is the mass market now.

Damn, what a weak conference... the biggest surprises were Skyrim VR and shadow of Colossus remastered... not impressed, Sony.
