Sony E3 2017 Conference Thread [Over]

This was the best conference. Sony saved E3. Spider-Man looks phenomenal, as does God of War. So many amazing games. They even made Destiny look good.

That was their weakest showing in years, especially if you consider their lineup of exclusives for 2017. The big guns, that matter to most (Dad of War, SOTC, Spider-Man) are all dropping in '18.

Microsoft and Ubisoft were better. Both of them. And I'm saying that after I considered their last conferences to be some of the best ever.

Yeah, uhm, this could seriously be Sony's worst E3 conference yet. Not one single wow-worthy surprise for me. I sat the alarm to wake me up 03:00 in the morning for this? Very disappointed. Has everyone already started focusing on PS5 development? Weird.
No they'be just had two amazing E3s and a great PSX in a row now. The negative of that is we kind of know everything they are working on now except Sucker Punch who I'm surprised weren't here

Decent but unsurprising conference beside SOTC and MH (leaked tho).
Everything was 2018 at best as usual and stream quality was the worst.

i've only seen this conference, microsoft's and ubisoft's but i'd give them 6/10, 6/10 and 7/10 respectively

i'm glad i skipped ea's conference this year after foolishly catching it the last two years. sounded awful.

E3 2017 will forever be the one where there were two separate versions of Skyrim being flogged six years after it came out

^

Almost choked when I saw that Skyrim VR trailer.

Also, can we talk about how Extreme Fishing FF XV was the only VR trailer with a hint of a VR HUD. Were it not for the PSVR logo in the corner of the screen, you literally wouldn not have been able to tell those were VR games. That's not a good way to market them, I think.

I seriously don't understand such comments, I can accept Ubi winning but MS? they had a terrible conf, they hardly have any AAA exclusive how can they win?

Seriously I thought you need an exclusive line up at least to "win".

You need to show "wow" "Holy shit" games to win a conference, not exclusives. Or is Ubisoft not having their own console means they can't win

That was on the level of the MS conference --it was decent-- but for different reasons. Not many new surprises or new IPs, outside of the SOTC remake. I think this may had been in light of the recent complaints about them revealing games too early though (there's always PSX at the end of the year to provide more game reveals). There also seemed to be less variety overall compared to MS. I don't think they even had an indie showcase.

With that said, I also think Sony made up for it with a strong line of first-party titles. Uncharted, Days Gone, and GoW among others all looked pretty solid. They also seem to be showing a decent amount of VR support too. And personally for me, Insomniac's Spider-Man showcase made it the best game of the show I've seen so far, that looked incredible. I think only Super Mario Odyssey's reveal tomorrow at Nintendo's Spotlight can give it competition for me.

Uhhhhhh?

Microsoft
Lucky the Fox (lol)
Sea of Thieves (PC)
Crackdown (PC)
Forza7 (PC)
Cuphead (PC)

Sony
God of War
Days gone By
Shadow of the Collosus
Uncharted Stand Alone
Spiderman
Detroit

People saying Microsoft's conference was better are straight up trolling.

Only Shadow of the Collosus wasn't at last year's E3 and it's a remake....

So to review:

- God of War is 2018

- Spider-Man is 2018

- Detroit didn't even have a date

- Days Gone didn't even have a date

So are two DLC packs the only original stuff Sony has for the rest of 2017? What the fuck.
I see you missed the preshow. GT Sport, Hidden Agenda, etc are all 2017.

It's relevant again!

+ Monster Hunter World
+ Shadow of the Colossus
+ Skyrim VR
+ God of War gameplay
+ Undertale Vita

- Days Gone gameplay. Looks dull. Stealth + Zombies not a good combination.
- Spiderman gameplay. Too scripted.
- Everything is 2018
- Detroit gameplay. Basically a glorified science adventure game from 5pb
- Uncharted expansion look boring. Chloe + Jungle = Tomb Raider Underworld
- So is Horizon expansion (did we need this)

hard to impress us as we've seen all these games already. God of War, Days Gone and Spider man look fantastic, and likely day ones, but the hype just wasn't there. I knew last year was just too good, will be one of the best E3 for a while I think.

Although Sony does have Dreams, Sucker Punch game, and TLOU2.

This E3 just didn't bring the hype much..

Ironically, it's actually time to play the darn video games now as they are coming out lol...So I can't complaint too much. I'd much rather have amazing games to play than to be hype.

But yeah, overall lackluster E3 across the board. Stuff looks good, but the highlights and surprises are just few and far in between.

DBFZ
Shadow of the Colossus
Spider man
Bioware's game

Only time I stopped and said 'WOW" this entire e3 so far.

Well, after 2 amazing E3s they were bound to have a rather average one, probably 6.5/10 because of God of War, Detroit and Spider-Man. No solid dates, barely new stuff and... I dunno, I guess they're saving stuff for PSX.

No, but the quality of their presentation really fell this year.

I dont even know what the fuck is happening with E3 this year. All conferences have been abysmal.

Really missed any crazy excitement from the crowd as well. Like we had with the mario stuff at Ubi or the Original Xbox bc at MS.

I don't get the hate.. However, you'll be playing most of those MS games in 2017.

I look at my PS4 and I'm not sure what I'll be playing outside of GT Sport in 2017.

Honestly I'm ok with Sony not announcing a whole lot of new stuff that we won't see for 3 or so years. Just focus on the stuff that's coming out before next E3. I think this was a good show.

A lot of what I saw was terrific.

I guess it's more what I didn't see: Sucker Punch's new IP, Dreams, WiLD update, etc.

But there was a lot of great stuff that got me extremely excited. I read from one of the insiders that it won't be the best Sony conference but it'd be good with some new announcements, and that's what I got, so all in all, I really loved it. Not quite 2015/2016 in terms of new stuff, but definitely great in terms of the content.

yeah, it was pretty light, i think we all expected to see updates from older announcements... but there was even less of that than I was expecting

still God of War and Spider-Man look proper next-gen insane and polished as hell

Days Gone showed a considerable improvement also

You know what I think Sony dialled it back because of complaints they show games too early.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Everything they showed was going to be pretty much out within the year. And most of it we've already seen or was announced. Where the last 2 years we got games a little while off but they were really big exciting stuff we'd never seen.

It was short and sweet and therefore disappointing. Nice to see games coming soon and more of them. But I prefer E3 for the big announcements and huge surprises we've been spoilt with in recent years.

C+ from me

Days Gone and God of War looked good but so they did when they showed them at the last E3.

No wonder this conference was so short.

Few new games.
