Sony E3 2017 Conference Thread [Over]

What are you all smoking?

Sure, there's no huge Blockbuster reveal. But let's face it, Sony had a huge start of 2017. Now it is GT Sport, Destiny 2, CoD, Horizon DLC and Uncharted DLC creating a comfortable end of year lineup. And then next year we get Monster Hunter, SOC remaster and God of War.

Now in terms of entertainment Ubisoft did very well, but the sheer breadth of PS lineup is astounding. If they make 1-2 longer term announcements during Gamescom or PSX it's pretty much a home run.

I don't need another cryptic teaser from Kojima, Last of us 2 or whatever new Infamous will be. It will come soon, but for the coming year Sony showed all the cool stuff.

But I was told by everyone in the E3 thread Sony could just re-show last years reveals and still have a monster show

lol

Conference was very underwhelming. No Sucker Punch, no new 1st party reveals, and a lack of release dates.

Uhhhhhh?

Microsoft
Lucky the Fox (lol)
Sea of Thieves (PC)
Crackdown (PC)
Forza7 (PC)
Cuphead (PC)

Sony
God of War
Days gone By
Shadow of the Collosus
Uncharted Stand Alone
Spiderman
Detroit

People saying Microsoft's conference was better are straight up trolling.

Why are you skipping over all of the interesting games from MS's conference?

I think overall we will never have a good E3 like 2015. From there on on every E3 felt lackluster.

In 2015 Bethesda had their first E3 showcase ever and showed nothing but good titles including one of the most anticipated titles ever...Fallout 4.

Microsoft had lots of great games to show (alltough some of them got canceleld...cough...Scalebound..cough), however, they kinda nailed it on the games side anyways.

Sony had their best E3 of all times.

EA was shit but atleast they had some Mass Effect and Star Wars to show.

Ubi was Ubi.

We had a Square Enix conference!

They really should've swapped the 15 agonizing minutes of PSVR in the conference with all the pre-show announcements. Ni No Kuni, Undertale, GT Sport, Everybody's Golf, etc. deserved that time more.

I felt it was a very solid conference. Anticlimactic ending and it was super short, but on paper it was pretty solid. I felt Layden was cringe worthy though. The show felt like the sum of its parts. MS's felt a little more energized, probably due to the hardware feeling fresh and the shocking number of titles being native 4K. Plus Anthem as a closer was incredible. Feel like Sony should have leaned on GoW for the closer.

The VR stuff looked boring to me. Maybe I'm just being a graphics snob due to my expectations for X1X or something, but I felt really underwhelmed visually by the VR stuff. When PSVR was first announced it seemed like the visuals were paired back only slightly from their main first party titles but that gap now seems enormous and jarring in a bad way.

Hyped for GOW, Spiderman, and SOTC HD.

Kind of a let down compared to last year, but last year was one of the GREATEST conferences ever... so it's all good.

This year every1 was avg.

Sotc remake and MHWorlds was my only highlight.

Conference would have been 5x better if they put the Pre show stuff in the conference and the vr stuff in the pre show.

Also sony said focus on jp games or something like that:

MH Worlds and SoTC remake
????? Thats focus ?????

Holy shit

OHhh my gawd. Brilliant. xD

Best conference, but not by much.

I agree.

Not much new, but anyone paying attention to their Studios would have expected that anyway.

The stuff they showed was awesome. They actually have first party AAA games i'm interested in and they all demoed great.

The lack of major surprises was a little disappointing compared to previous years, but there was no way they were ever gonna keep up that momentum with crazy out-of-the-left-field announcements. They only have so many studios/partners.

A solid 7/10. I'll play almost every game they showed, but none of them really blew me away. The fact that it was 60 minutes long and they had some really good pre-show stuff is mind boggling to me. I was happy to see at least some care for VR. Moss was honestly my game of the conference.

Hope Nintendo brings at least one thing for me to go nuts over tomorrow.

I actually really like these casters (?). Their analysis is mainstream enough to be enjoyed by most people but with just enough insight to keep me interested.

I mean, the stuff they showed was good. But aside from MH there weren’t any big, new game announcements. Most of the stuff there was shown last year. Didn’t even get solid release dates for games. So weird.

Bloody hell what was that Sony? Rightfully deserve all the slack they are getting.. Seriously disappointed..Where was the last of us 2? Where was Sucker punch. Nothing new announced at all by any of the big players.. Very oddly paced conference..ended without any proper closure..Severely short and Shawn Layden has all the charisma of a kitchen utensil..That being said there was some neat stuff in there for VR..the mouse games looks great and so does spiderman but cmon Sony..no Warhawk/Mag/KZ2 remakes ..nothing new on the resistance universe..no CTR..No Syphon Filter..No Colony Wars...even for VR..

Sony had an average conference. Not bad but certainly the weakest Sony conference this gen.

Both MS and Sony had average ones actually.

If TGS and PSX wasn't a thing for Sony, i'd probably be way more annoyed than i am. i guess they did announce plenty of games and had to show them off at some point.

I actually think they should have combined the content of the pre show and the actual show

The hyperbole in this thread is through the fucking roof. Maybe stop setting unrealistic expectations, and you won't be so disappointed? It was a solid show.

Was it? Ads shown at the start then 2 trailers for DLC, long demo for Days Gone which had 2 showings in Sony's conference dedicated to it last E3, large VR segment that was introduced with Skyrim...already got skyrim TWICE in two difference conferences before this it set up it for a boring segment great for those already interested in VR(Moss was cool).
Monster Hunter World then Shadow of Colossus (remake, remaster?) both looked good and were interesting, Marvel Vs Capom Infinite then Call Of Duty...boring. God of War trailer looked really good but we already got a lengthy 10 minute look at it last E3 a flat feeling Destiny 2 trailer, a WAY too long Detroit trailer with a protagonist that didn't seem interesting at all compared to last years, then a heavy scripted QTA Spider man Demo.

I think one of my biggest frustrations with PS4 ownership continues to be the carrot on a stick reveals. I don't think it is necessarily Sony's fault, but I don't exclude them from fault either.

I think the best way to describe the conference is that it comes across as... Tired?

Like yeah, last year was refreshing because it was quick to get to games but there were still on stage presence that happened...

This went from game to game so quickly that it was done far faster than previously and felt a lot less momentous.

Not to mention so many 2018 games...

Good, but not great. The weakest of the 3 since 2015. Hopefully PSX and next year are a better showing.

God of War, Spider-Man, and especially Shadow of the Colossus elevated the conference and Uncharted looked fantastic as always, plus Days Gone got a way better demo this time.

Personally I think some of the stuff that showed some prompts in Spider-Man wasn't as QTE as it seemed since it's Insomniac, plus there's probably plenty of free roam of the city too.

A solid 8.5/10 conference for me. Way too short. And certainly not good enough to get rid of the feeling that this is an underwhelming E3.

Sony needed the Sucker Punch announcement. God of War & Spiderman looked fantastic. SotC was legit a fucking megaton for me. The VR segment was 1 game too long. They should've made some of the pre-show in the main conference itself.

Definitely much weaker than past years, but still my favorite conference in a sea of weak conferences. Hopefully Nintendo changes that tomorrow.

Agreed.

That should have been a whole half hour longer and re-arranged games for better flow and some of the pre-show games into the main conference like Matterfall that hasn't been seen in a couple of years, that would have had a nice showing coming back with some having forgotten it.
