Sony E3 2017 Conference Thread [Over]

It was entertaining. You guys are nuts. Give Sony a pass here. They have been delivering for years, and will continue to do so.

Everything can't always be bigger and better. Why can't we be happy with consistently things being good? This was a good conference.

We're just use to Sony announcing games 3 years before they done, we saw their lineup for the next 2 years last E3. This E3 was just following up on that. Not the best way to handle announcements, and probably my least favorite conference, but I'm not sure what people were expecting.

I'm sold on VR which I didn't expect.

It was rock bottom? Lmao

You didn't think it was interesting to see games like metro being unveiled? And all the other stuff like Black desert, Playerunknown's game, cuphead, ori or anthem etc? I don't care that these are 3rd party games, they add to the conference's entertainment level as a whole. To call it rock bottom is just hilarious to me and it kinda reeks of fanboyism and hate towards ms/ xbox.

Not arguing on the lack of MS 1st party announcements, they should've stepped up and so should sony have this year.

THIS.

1st world problems, runnin' wild.

Whats up with all the negativity??? I've been with MS for the past 15 years, have not owned a PS since PS1, and this conference got me STOCKED!!!! Getting me a PS4 Pro ASAP!!!

Disappointing lack of indies in the conference, which I guess they don't have too, but they could have put a sizzle reel out there since their conference was short anyway. Missing Adam Boyes :/ Still a good conference.

Y'all are witnessing the harsh realities of the AAA contraction my boy da Prophet Mark Rein talked about ages ago.

Sony's bread and butter may be polished, cinematic SP games, but they're AAA and expensive and can't be pumped out quickly.

If you think PS5 will somehow remedy this ...

... I have some bad news.

Why? If people feel it wasn't a good conference then why should they give them a pass ?

Man, that was a mediocre showing from Sony. 15-20 minutes of VR was not a good decision, yet Ni No Kuni 2, GT Sport and other games were left out? Awful decision right there.

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite looks especially rough. Maybe I'm being too harsh on it, but damn have my expectations been raised after the last batch of fighters was released.

It feels like they couldn't announce much (first-party) because there isn't much to announce.

If all this stuff is 2018, then anything after is bordering on PS5 launch territory.

PS5 is 2019 or 2020.

Definitely much weaker than the last 2 years, but E3 seems to be much more restrained this year in general. Was hoping for more Japanese games.

Monster Hunter was a surprise but it looked a bit off to me. Looking forward to SotC and God of War, but there was nothing that really blew my mind, which is fine since I can't complain about a lack of great games in recent times.

They should have put some stuff that was in the pre-show into the actual show like Crash, GT Sports, Ni no Kuni II and Undertale. I thought they relegated them into the pre-show to make space in the actual show, but then the actual show felt way too short. Weird decision.

Man that conference was underwhelming. Laughable.

This E3 has given me some of the most memorable and exciting trailers I've ever seen (DB:FighterZ, TEW2), and just a lot to look forward to in general ...but the conferences themselves have been absolutely forgettable. I don't want E3 to die, but honestly they should have just posted these videos alongside press releases.

So because people are impressed with something you're not, there's something wrong with it? How?

I got plenty of updates to games I want to buy. Saw something new that I can't wait to buy now. There doesn't need to be new shit every year. Also Sony has another show they have to set up. It's unfortunate that this show didn't meet yours or others expectations, but happens.

Nothing wrong with it at all. Just didn't see what some people were psyched about is all. I guess it could be seen as an inflammatory statement though. Apologies. That wasn't my intent.

At e3 there kind does need to be new stuff every year. That's the point. I wanted to get excited for upcoming Ps4 stuff. I didn't.

*goes to re-watch Sony 2015 just for kicks*

(Once again, tbf, every company is prone to a low point, so it's fine if this was theirs [and/or everyone's], to the majority. It's a heck of a track to follow after those 2 precedents after all.)

I stand by my comment. It was solid. Not the best ever, but solid.

You can't please GAF. It's impossible, so guess what? These companies aren't trying to.

You must have missed all of the times when E3 presentations were well received around here, because that statement is completely wrong.

I think the problem is they did not show anything new other than a remake of Shadow. Usually Sony shows a few "future" projects, the majority of the show was stuff from last year, 3rd party games, a VR segment and 2 DLC's. There was nothing we did not know about other than the Shadow remake. I think that is why many feel that way. Perhaps Sony is changing how they show stuff and they don't want to show games that are 3+ years out. Who knows for sure.

- Hey, why don't we announce Dissidia Final Fantasy during the conference?
- That's not good enough.
- What about the fishing VR game from FF XV?
- DO IT

Covfefe indeed.
No price drops, no megaton.

I agree that Sony should do the short and simple going forward. Leave the glamour galore to new hardware launches.

You know what is worse than the conferences this year? Crapcom.

They announced a bland MH spin off, but not DMC5.

What is wrong with this company?

Does Sony have any first party games this fall? Or major exclusives? Spider-Man is next year, right?

Posted earlier, but:

Crash Bandicoot N'Sane Trilogy, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Everybody's Golf, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Yakuza Kiwami, Ni No Kuni II*, Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Lands, Hidden Agenda, Gundam Versus, Knack 2 and Gran Turismo Sport are the exclusives for the remainder of 2017.

I hadn't seen the Gran Turismo trailer or the Hidden Agenda trailer during the stream (was the latter in it and I missed it due to switching feeds?).

While the lag and overall lack of surprises made this a meh conference, and the lag almost killed it, when taking into account the trailers and announcements in the pre-show (Gran Turismo Sport, Superhot VR, Undertale and the PlayLink games) it turned out to be better than most conferences this year.

Still, Ubisoft had the best one so far.

And they all pale in comparison to the best of the past years.

Sony should take a cue from Microsoft and hire people to applaud at their events, just in case it goes south like today.
