Sony Gamescom press conference set for August 14th

I honestly hope Killzone is done as an IP and Guerilla makes something else.

It isn't done, not by a longshot due to the upcoming vita game and guerilla openly stating about continuing with the franchise also guerilla's second team is making a new ip

Vita need to be $199 or $180 with a memory card, Value Pack will do nothing.

..Xperia Play failed hard, so I don't think anyone want a gaming phone.

I believe PS Mobile can get the iOS/Android and other apps to Vita and Sony should release it soon before it's too late.

same thing can be said about UC3.

I said something realistic. Dropping $50-60 off the current price is going to hurt their profitability. Best you can expect is $50 gif certificates during fall.

I mean, the only reasonable work-around would be to offer VITA on contract.

And Xperia Play is NOT proof that no one wants a gaming phone. It is proof that it was a poorly executed concept.

The problem I have will Killzone is that they have a fantastic looking engine that generally plays great, but they have tired their SP around uninteresting characters. Does anyone actually like Rico?

If they did a half reboot, jump forward like 50 years or something, bring in new characters and a new conflict I would be happy.

I don't think they would want to launch it too close to the launch of next gen platforms. Will be a summer title at the latest IMO, spring more likely.
If anything, that's when you need to pull out your big guns. Sony released SotC just before the 360 shipped, and had major releases like GoW2 much later.

Yeah, and with Resistance and Socom, MAG falling by the wayside, Killzone is the only obvious choice left as Sony's flagship FPS franchise/anti-Halo. Common sense says it has to continue.

Okay, not to be out of topic here, but is the PSN dow right now or is it just me? I don't want to create a new thread for something that might be an error on my part. :D

Also, I think it's safe to assume Sony will be announce PS3 super slim at Gamescom, right?

So would a $179 PS3 realistically inspire investor confidence? It's always been said that once Sony hit that magical sweet spot ($199) that it was going to be a good thing. My guess? Expect to see a Wonderbook bundle announced at Gamescom especially since they love their Harry Potter.

I'm not sure if they'd consider Killzone Vita unannounced or not... maybe we'll actually see some new games! :D Hopefully they're for Vita.

If they are both for Vita, that basically confirms what we already know. Sony's EU studios are knee deep in PS4 development and have been for some time.

If one of them is a PS3 game, it would most likely be from one of the Guerrilla Games teams or from Evolution Studios.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the games is Media Molecule's Vita title, and the other was Killzone Cambridge (or Guerilla's Vita game?).

Yeah, that part seems evident by their output thus far. Evolution making a small downloadable game for PS3/Vita, and then moving offices? They're bound to be working on that PGR-esque game for next gen... Although, Liverpool is making a PS3/Vita game at the moment. I imagine that isn't close to a reveal yet, 2048 was only late last year / early this year.

Edit: I do recall a rumour though that Guerilla was planning on putting Killzone 4 on the PS3 though, to finish up the storyline they started on the console.

Sony have two unannounced titles they are scheduling appointments for.

I seem to remember hearing something about a French team (that wasn't Quantic Dream) developing and/or showing off a 'big' title for the PS3.

Does that ring a bell with anyone?

stop making games for the triple

Its got a big install base, so of course they're going to make games for it. And then put a fair few of those same games on the Vita until their next console is released. Upon which the PS3 will get versions of Vita games. The PSP/PS2 cycle will continue anew.

But the recent marketplace has shown to be very volatile to iterative and smaller scale new IPs, which certainly would make up the bulk of the PS3's remaining support. Which raises the question of why not have those studios create exclusive content for a platform that desperately needs it? Continuing to do these PS3/Vita games is just continuing to doom Vita to poor hardware and software sales.

For what it's worth SCE has a handful of Move titles we knew were in development at one point but after Sorcery who knows.
