Sony has no sense of direction

Apex is a great game, I assume the other two are too. If this game was more like Apex it would be an instant buy for me.

Makes absolute no sense to shit on this genre then, but admit you love COD. Cause COD is the daddies of GaaS. You play it cause it's gameplay is mechanically tight? No? despite being the same shit every year. Basically buying a new hero area shooter every year, different name, same shit.

I assume Sony has given these teams extra time cause it will need to combat Microsoft's incoming plans with Bethesda and Activision.
The Overwatch type of hero shooters do not do it for me and personally I don't really view COD as a hero arena shooter

To me it's like XDefiant I tried it for a few rounds and 5hose types of games have run their course, those 4v4 or 5v5 waiting for your ultimate to recharge

Some will like it I am sure and that's cool, have fun with it, to me it's trash

You thought Hellblade 2 was a good game. I'm pretty sure your opinion doesn't matter at this point.
What does my opinion on a single player game that isn't even on PS have to do with anything I said?! You went out of your way to look through my post because my opinion and 99% of this thread thinks gaas is lame for Sony. You could at least try not to look like such a sensitive fanboy.

After seeing people actually having fun with Hellblade 2 the past week, and after this shitshow today, it might be asking too much for that poor fanboy soul to try to look reasonable.

Oh look, it's another one of those one sentence random opinion threads that make so much sense outside of the OP's bubble. Without context your thread is ass, and it makes it feel like you are trying to stir shit. Prove me wrong by actually adding context…you probably won't though.
Well they do have 2 ceos now. That kind of screams uncertainty does it not? 🤷‍♂️

Sadly for an old fart like myself that show proves I will be keeping a lot more of my money
They can push these games like Concord all they want but they will still be getting their Astro Bot kind of money from me. I did see about four games I am interested in so I did not find the show a flop considering it was a SOP and I expected less. As I said in another thread though, I have lower expectations so it balances out for me. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Okay GAF. What do we want Sony to do? You've got people who have been wanting them to do more multiplayer games. People who want them to do single player games that don't feel like movies. Then you have people who want them to keep doing those big cinematic games. Are they supposed to ONLY do those games? Is it okay if they do others? If they do only those games are we gonna complain that they're a one-trick pony? If they try to diversify do we complain they have no direction? I just need to know what my narrative is supposed to be, because I'm getting really confused and I gotta be honest... it's turning me on. And you won't like me when I'm turned on. (You will)
I want them to free Bloodborne from PS4 hardware limitations and port it to PC. After that they can do whatever.

I'm pretty excited about some of those VR games. Is that exorcist game out yet? I'll go check right now

They are throwing some things in all directions right now to see what sticks. I know one thing, I looked through PSCORE and it sucks. At least the PS plus freebie section does. There is only a couple movies I would watch.

In what way is it DOA? More gamers will probably Concord than HD2 just because of the genre. It could be good or bad, but the gameplay on UE5 looks super smooth from the trailer

People just hate the type of game it is. Its like COD. Every year people bitch and moan how much they hate it and every year people are still playing it on a daily basis
Sounds fair.

But the Wokey trailer is a bad impression though. Imo at least.

Gameplay doesn't seem too bad, but I'd really like to see more of it.

Yeah, I don't care about story elements in most games, especially GAAS games. I could give two shits about any kind of narrative focus for a GAAS game. It is pretty dumb imo. Gameplay is king and it looks pretty good imo. And I doubt Sony would release this game if they didn't think it could at the very minimum compete with Overwatch

Meh, I'll just buy the stuff I want to see succeed, like Astro Bot, and hope games like Concord crash and burn so that they learn their lesson.

That rarely works.....because the biggest target for these GAAS ages are people who mostly buy Sports games, COD and Fortnite and nothing else.
Just vote with your weapon of choice in this case. These filthy casuals dont need to breath the same air as us.

Well on the plus side this might just be the generation that I actually get through my backlog. This has been a very interesting generation… Let's see if Nintendo can save this sad AF 4K gaming era.

helldivers 2 is the exception not the rule

If you think concord looks good and not like some generic hero shooter crap then more power to you

I don't need to play it to know it's dead on arrival, generic gaas trash.

I'll take 3 Hellblades over that crap I saw today

I'm neutral with PS, but i kinda agree with OP. PS these days unfortunately lost direction. Used to be cool back then. Too much clingy to west i think. I own all platform this gen cept xbox. But, if i might say, if sony has lost direction, microsoft is much worst these days. Hope there is changes in the future.

It could also scream solidarity and teamwork (Between PS Japan and PS EU/US). It's all about how one perceives it because we simply don't know yet.

I'm not going to bother complaining about the thread's existence though. People air their grievances, jadedness, and nostalgia weekly here. This thread is no different and will end no different. I just hope that those people eventually find their own way to enjoy video games.

Concord looks like Redfall as in, already been there done that shooter and I see absolutely nothing new it brings to the table. They literally made their own overwatch. This game is gonna bomb so hard.

I've had enough of the chinese copypaste games that pop up in every state of play
They're ugly rip offs of already seen bad games wich sometimes come to a developement end but usually become vaporware
I will not buy any single of that china project

Give me Astrobot and spare me that kind of tragic show

That's going overboard, casuals or not they can play what they want doesn't matter what we think.

I just buy the games I like and hope the games I like does well, that's all I can do.

You people have really become serious. Can't even make a dark joke around here.

The are chasing the sweet GaaS money.
We already know the budget to returns ratio of AAA single player games is not that big and they wanted to start making money from GaaS.

They are doing it wrong imo. Concord doesn't offer something new like Helldivers, they will try to steal players from OW, Paladins etc.
I hope their other GaaS are better and they won't forget their SP games that placed them at the top of the industry.

I don't think the problem is no direction. I think the problem is too many directions. 12 Gaas projects. VR. PC ports. They spread themselves too thin. I don't know anything, but I suspect this is why Sony has nothing they can show right now. Their resources have been scattered all over the place. Again, that's my guess.
Add on coof lockdowns and wfh, and you're entirely on the money.
Good news is VR's getting slow walked out of the picture entirely and a lot of the live service projects have been canned. PC ports? Another day, soldier.

Just sucks that we could have had some kickass games other than Astro Bot (still stoked for that one though) had PlayStation's management not gone seemingly "all in" on this Gaas shit and been more conservative in their approach.
It was inevitable, and probably better for it to turn out this way. At some point, someone at PlayStation wss going to walk into a meeting promising the moon on a stick with gaas shit. Sony needed to go all in so they could get burned in significant ways, otherwise, this period of "experimentation" would've lasted even longer.

All things considered, they hard pivoted quickly and fully without going all sunk cost fallacy. Which is nice to see from a company their size.

Sony is clearly getting desperate, their original strategy isn't working anymore, they thought selling playstation at break even or a small loss could give them a much higher market share and led to much stronger pricing power, that didn't happen, pc has now become a very strong competitor for core gaming. sony also thought their games could sell more, however the cost and time now to make their first party game is so high and every game take years to develop, profit margin from their gaming sector is so low. Now they are trying anything they can think of to try get more people to PSN. Going third party is more and more likely.

I just finished it. It is an exceptional game with more character, soul and heart than most new games on the market.

Back to the topic: I've noticed OP's drive-by posts over the years and I'm really hoping he is just an elaborate troll with a goal to entertain himself.

Playstation is doing great. Market leader, most profitable gen ever, over 100 billion revenue I think. Still making AAA single player games. They're just adding more GaaS titles to get their feet wet in that space. No reason to have a meltdown.

That's why I laugh when yall are sitting cheering and hoping for Xbox's demise. Little do you all realise that its probably you're own demise you're cheering in the first place.

Lack of direct competition will open the floodgates for Sony to do whatever they damn well please? Competitive pricing on hardware, what for?

You all saw what happened when Sony thought they had no competition before, a £500+ PS3 happened.

The same people who said that Sony need to create their own mulitplayer games, are also the same who are now complaining.....

You think that's good? Is not good for them neither us.
No, I don't.
Nokia thought the same in the mobile market.
Poor comparison. There's a grand total of about four companies in the world who can afford to enter the home console video game market and take the initial losses necessary to establish a brand at this stage. And one of them is already in and is struggling. There's no dark horse here; there's no revolutionary new home console experience to be had that upends the entire market and ousts the deeply entrenched monopoly. Sony won.

Nokia thought the same with physical buttons before touchscreens came out of nowhere and redefined the mobile experience. Market preferences can shift dramatically. Blackberry seemed invincible once.

You highlighted two GaaS games from 15+ game show for your agenda. One isn't even developed by Sony (Marvel Rivals). Additionally, most of the games they showed are multi platform.

Again, I'm pretty sure your opinion on what people want to play is pretty mute at this point.
