So, not a division and its own legal entity. Correct.
Sony's Games & Network Services division is SIE.

There is nothing of this division outside SIE.

SIE is Sony's fully owned subsidiary that only exist to be Sony's Games & Network Service division.

So yes, SIE is this division. Even if corporations split themselves into many subcompanies and subsidiaries because of legal reasons and to save taxes.

Because they are separate companies? Not completely, ok, but they don't give their shit to each other for free.
They aren't separate companies. They are different branches of the same corporation, which means they have the same owner and have to report to him, follow his strategy and mandate, etc.

No, it's the one subsidiary to report its earnings on the GN&S SEGMENT.
They aren't separate companies.
They are separate companies to EACH OTHER, just wholly owned by a big corporation. If it was as simple as that and there was only one Sony, you wouldn't have stuff like this happening.

Yes, they are different Sony divisions or subsidiaries, part of the same corporation.

There is only one Sony, because all subsidiaries (divisions, subdivisions, etc) are fully owned parts of Sony.

And yes, Sony sold both music cds, cd-r and cd burners. In the same way they did it with movies and music for dvd, blueray, cassettes or video tapes. Obviously they didn't like piracy and wanted people to use them instead for other usages. Obviously the opinion of a trade association they are part of isn't their opinion. Obviously in large groups of people as is a big corporation someone will disagree and different divisions may have conflicting positions or interests. This article is super dumb.

We're going in circles, I'm done. Lots of irrelevant things here, btw.
