Sony Move bundles detailed and priced (Including boxart pics)

I really don't see anything in Sports Champions that makes it seem like a good game like Wii Sports Resort or a great game like Wii Sports.
I see it doing the shared activities better (archery, fighting) while otherwise looking much prettier. The controls never seem to break either.
Looking at the menus it's super fast and you jump between and into the games almost at the speed of browsing web pages (no loading at all).

They are presenting it like a fighter it seems. You have a grid of personalities and the 1p is presented with art on top left and 2p top right (Tekken selection screen).

Yeah, it won't appeal to as many people then. They really need Miis on this thing.

Sony has some leeway because their brand of waggle will hold just as much sway with the core as the casual. It's basically like using a mouse.

The thing is, many of these "core" games are multiplayer.

After getting feasted on by people using the traditional controller, I see many Moves collecting dust within a couple days of launch.

I used the Move at E3 to play Socom 4. It's gonna be the other way around.

Its worth pointint out that while the sega CD allusion isnt unfair, its horribly outdated. Motion controls are a generational staple now, and both MS and Sony have something I like to call "advertising".

Back in the day of sega CD, there was no such thing as viral marketing, the internet in general (sega channel lol), social networking, internet forums to promote by word of mouth, demo kiosks in malls across the country, etc, etc. I would say the largest difference is just the frame of mind of the public towards video games as well. Extra peripherals and technology are something that parents across the world are familiar with now. Imagine coming up to your mom a month before christmas and asking for a sega CD. She probably doesnt even know what a CD is, let alone what you do with your sega. Fast Forward to 2k10. Ask your mom for a playstation move. She knows what a playstation is

"what is a move?"

"It's like a better wii"

Now she understands. MS has dumptrucks full of money to pour into MTV ads and funding its own television show staring the kinectimals. Sony doesnt so they market it towards the people who already like games. Both will get the word out accordingly, both will make loads of money and, most importantly of all, both will be fun, unlike sega cd.

In this sense, Wii / PS3 owners likely have an advantage in adapting Move and using it successfully in core multiplayer titles.

....

Yup. I'm going to buy one.

I would be remarkably surprised if my mother knew what a PlayStation was. She would often ask if I was playing 'Nintendo' in reference to my console even when I didn't own Nintendo's then-current system.

But reports are stating the opposite...
And screw reports. By playing a well tuned Wii fps game for example it's crystal clear that's it's way more precise.
Let's not even begin to compare pointer controller strategy games with analog stick controlled ones.

If the name "PlayStation" isn't printed at least 20 times (in 9 different fonts) on the sides that are not shown in this pic, I might not know that it's a peripheral for my PlayStation.

Already have the PS Move Bundle paid off (the 99 dollar one)
Debating when (and if) I get the nav/extra move. Just the bundle will do for me on launch day.

I really dislike Wii Sports and Resort, so I'll probably pass on Sports Champions too.

You disliked Resort? Why?

And no, this isn't a setup to attack you - I'm genuinely curious 'cause I think it's pretty awesome.

This is one (and probably the only) area Kinect has the upper-hand, you buy one item and that's it.

Some of you will say this offers choice/options but it also introduces confusion.

I think we went back and forth years ago on why I didn't like or find Wii Sports fun.

Same thing for Resort. I was hoping Motion+ would make a difference, but still felt like minigames with poor control for the most part.

And yeah, I tried to play it with friends (including ladies). Everyone just got bored quickly, I don't know, we just don't get it. We went back to playing Risk that night. :lol

To everybody bitching about the bundles not being inclusive(no Sub controller etc):

How well did $100 Hard drives, Wifi Adapters, Play and Charge Kits, HD DVD addons, $50/year for online play work out for Microsoft?

Also, how well did "Our system comes with Bluray, Wifi, a hard drive, controllers with a rechargable battery and you don't have to pay to play online, so really our system is cheaper" work for Sony?

Going a la carte with Move is the best decision Sony could make. It sucks for consumers but it has been proven time and time again to be the most successfull stratagy.

Fair enough. For me, Resort was everything I wanted Wii Sports to be and then some. I really, deeply enjoy that game and feel the controls make a huge difference. But obviously your mileage varied. ;)

Good choice. Risk is awesome.

The original Wii Sports was decent for me. I won't praise it though. It was too pre canned. I can play almost the whole game with just wrist flicking. I guess that's why Motion Plus came out and Wii Sports Resort.

The two ones one the right side (description text)? Totally on purpose. I swear.

:/

Sony logo on the bottom right of the front of the box, and the word Sony on the Move controller itself on the box.

Edit: Oh shit 3, one is on the PSeye as well:lol

Edit 2: Oh shit 4, Sony logo on the bottom right of the Sport Champions box:lol

Didn't seem to hurt the Wii.

No confusion at all, for me. Not paying $150 for one item I'll likely not bother with. I'm somewhat interested in Move, but I doubt it'll be a day one for me unless I can try it first and really, really enjoy it.

To a regular person at a store... He'll see "one" item for $150, and he'll see "three" (move+eye+game) for $99. He won't immediately think "Hey, what about a second person?" he'll see more value off-the-bat from Sony's offering.

Probably took their cues from Microsoft's iPod.

Perhaps it will make people reconsider their hatred of the nunchuk being tethered to the wiimote. It's a pretty crappy price for what we get, but considering it needs its own battery and wireless equipment it wasn't going to be the cheapest thing.

if the thing had anything worthwhile inside of it i could see the price... can't believe they don't have any kind of sensors. And for only have a wireless half controller, the price is upsetting, its the only thing that gets a big red x on the move so far.

Well... the hardware bundles get a small red x.... seriously, when bundled with a console they would be better off at least offering a discount.

yup, we've seen this through the entire generation proven out.

Even the boxart for archery shows them using two Move controllers. Im a bit confused how you would even do the archery with only one -- just hold your hand out, wtf?

This is a mess....it seems you would need the bundle, 1 extra Move controller and 1 navigation controller....making the total cost for Move around $180. No thanks.

I would be surprised if this flew off the shelves. It's just not as interesting looking as Kinect, however shitty that may be. They should've gone for a more tacky in-your-face boxart... now it blends with all the other accessories.

It's not confusing, they even stated that most of the games work with ONE controller, and have said that the only game that REQUIRES 2 controllers is The Fight.

pretend you have kinect for one hand and wii for another :lol

I've sold the wife on this after showing her the videos from E3. This will be a day 1 purchase for me and the price is right at the limit of what I would pay.

Cool. What application was she most interested in?

To be honest, I don't think a lot of people looked at Wii Sports initially and thought it was anything fun either, and it turned out to be a smash hit. I think it's best we hold our judgments until the product is released. I think some of the games aren't very interesting (the gladiator one specifically) but ping pong, volleyball, and archery look good. Plus disc golf looks like a cool addition as well.

The presentation was the thing that made me have an immediate interest in Wii Sports. The actual activities themselves seemed fairly shallow (and, as it turned out, they were fairly shallow!), but the presentation just immediately screamed how fun and exciting it'd be solo and multiplayer.

And, frankly, I think the presentation for Sports Champions looks Like Conspiracy Entertainment/Crave's Summer Athletics. Which got a 48 Metacritic average for 360 and 56 for Wii.

In fact, here's the IGN review summary for Summer Athletics: "Summer Athletics doesn't have a lot going for it. Some of the events can be fun on some level, but there are better competition games on the market. It also has some pretty big presentation issues, which is unfortunate." ... and that's pretty much exactly how Sports Champion looks so far. It's worth noting that not a single review for Summer Athletics complained about the controls ("Most of the events work reasonably well in terms of the control scheme").

Of course we won't know too much about depth, controls, or fun factor until we're playing it ourselves, but that's where I am on the title right now and I really, really don't see where the potential is in this game for me to be wrong.

I did too. Singstar Dance, the Shoot and Sorcery were her favorite. She wants a minigame collection too, not necessarily sports... so we'll see what we end up with there.
