Finally a good casting idea. :lol

that's probably the only thing that could convince me to see this movie

Yeah, I used to have a list of great actors who would fit the roles, but it was a long time ago. People have changed. One that hasn't was that big wrestler who was in the opening of Troy and in Jet Li's Fearless. He was my perfect Vulcan Raven.

No, Sutherland deserves better. He's a genuine class...

Or go straight to the original inspiration?

Digitally recreate Robert Crenna (he passed away in 2003). He had the voice down and the look.

The only correct answer for casting Revolver Ocelot is Paul Newman.

Which is highly appropriate, as such an improbable yet beautiful thing could only happen in an alternate universe where an MGS movie has a chance in hell of actually being good.

Elisha Cuthbert as Meryl and Eric Roberts as Psycho Mantis

I would kill myself if that happened. THere is something fundamentally wrong with someone for going out with Sean Avery. :/

Gene Hackman could make a good Campbell.

As for Ocelot...

Sam Elliot.

I agree with the Gene Hackman remark.

I would like to point out, that the actor doesn't necesarily have to look like their cartoon counterparts. Just play a decent role.

Hense my frustration at the Elisha Cuthbert and David Carridine remark. I liked him in Kill Bill. That's it!

How many people played Metal Gear Solid game? I say 20 mln at best. How many people will play every game in the series? I say maybe 3 mln.

How many people seen Da Vinci Code, or Casino Royale? 50 mln? Probably even more.

So now think how awesome it would be if SONY Pictures made a Metal Gear Solid trilogy, not a 1.30 h side story, or action flick, but a full fledged trilogy with full story of Metal Gear Solid, from Big Boss fighting the soviets, to him trying to get back Strelnikov, to fighting shogohad, to waking up in 1997 (or whatever year they want) as a clone, to the manhattan project, and in final to the grande finale of MGS4. I'm pretty sure SONY pictures have enough skill to wrap it up and make it more movie friendly, and they have enough special effects to make it look believable.

NO WAY!

total diffrent thing to direct movies and to direct games
They said the same about Akira Yamaoka and musical direction for the Silent Hill movie. And guess what: the replacement dude Jeff Danna messed it up worse than Yamaoka ever could. But I'm confident that director Christophe Gans had his fair share in this mess up.

However, if the budget is high enough to get a decent director, Kojima has to stand back. It all comes down to the budget after all. $80 million and upwards should get you enough talent for a typical Hollywood summer movie. Anything below it probably results in a royal disaster. Talented people don't seem to be interested in video game adaptions, so you must *buy* them.

Hell, we might get lucky; it may not be focused on Snake, but some other guy (like Raiden or something.) At least Kojima wants nothing to do with Uwe. Plus he was originally a film guy at heart and in the past his judgement has been well placed (Harry Gregson-Williams for MGS2 and 3.) I don't think he would sign away his baby if a.) he wasn't directly involved and b.) he didn't have a big say in who was doing what.

i really hope Kojima plays Snake out of nowhere. it would make for one of the most mind blowing experiences ever.

YES.

Really though, I could see Jim Caveazellllll (sp?) playing snake, but his voice isn't all that snake-y. That said, he's played some accented parts in the past, so maybe he could pull off something rough.

I'm not sure how I feel about this yet.

I just look forward to a lot of awesome fanservice and Silent Hill-esque production values.

:lol
this thread gets far more amusing then I've expected

edit: @the previous bandana pics of course :)

I want to get excited about this, but it's so scary thinking about how it could be utterly ruined.

I know that there are going to be huge changes to the plot, props, etc. I just hope they are tasteful and well done.

I would have been more interested if today as about 4 years ago. But I'm still looking forward to seeing how it will turn out. Silent Hill was going to be the saving grace of game-films and it almost succeeded IMO. This will be a bit harder to do.

If the movie ends up not so good at least the music will be kick ass (I hope)

Sam Elliot.

Hell yes to both these suggestions. Also why has only one or two people said Sean Bean? I mean wtf, Kojima practically laid it out for you in the MGS4 trailer:

Im crazy about Metal Gear, but I dont know how to feel about this announcement....yet. I hope this turns out to be awesome.

Have you seen a video game related movie before? You're really setting yourself up for disappointment. Especially if you think it's going to set the box office by storm. Your previous post comparing it to success stories like Casino Royale and Da Vinci Code is to be honest, silly. You think MGS has anything on these licenses? No ordinary person knows what MGS is, and won't care.

Also, I'm gay for Sean Bean. So anything he's in I'll watch. Let's hope he's in this.

Snake will be Denzel Washington or Will Smith for sure.

I was thinking more along the lines of Chris Tucker... LOL, can you imagine that one... Oh man, his voice...

"Dontchu ever touch a black man's cigarette's" when told to give up the smokes cause it's bad for you...

Wonder if they can make it an animated movie? It's gonna just be missing something without David Hayter doing the voice... :( I really like his voice, fits Snake very very well... Will it be a side story? See, I think they should base it off MGS:1, as the public probably won't be as confused if they do something like off MGS2...

and LOL at Harry f'n Potter to play Otacon... :lol
