Sony PSN Network connectivity Issues

I'm currently here. Hmm what to do what to do.

If it holds up for quite a while you can hold the ps home button and choose to go into standby mode. It'll ask you to choose a profile when going back. My friend had his psn handle available after that. I had to try and sign back in. The good news is that it saves your progress of how far you've gotten in the setup. You still have to re enter your email and password though if you have to do the latter.

Thats what I did lol it seems a lot of the menus involving PSN or connecting to the internet cause wait screens.

okay so i pressed the PSbutton turned it off then resigned in with just the User1

it let me get to the dash, then i signed in again to my PSN and it worked

it was trying to connect earlier but now its having trouble connecting at all lol. just turned system off and then on again.

It seems to me that powering off the system (not standby) fixes many things with the PS4.

...kinda like Windows95

I got in after about 2.5 hours dicking around with it. Once you are in it is a pretty smooth ride aside from some network maintenence prompts.

I was able to login and get up and running without issue, but I'm having bad reliability issues with simple features like messaging, notifications and the PSN store. My downloads are working fine, but the "live areas" of each game are flipping out pretty bad.

I wonder how long this will persist for? I want to put this new PSN through it's paces!

Xb1 you say? I can give you over 300,000 reasons why it won't. :]

I see some are gullible enough to eat up all that MS PR. There will also be connection problems on launch day with xb1. It happens with all launches. Hopefully they're not too bad cause you can't do anything on those things without the day 1 patch.

Playing BF4 all night. Downloaded Warframe Resogun, Netflix, and Redbox Instant. My registration went straight through at around 1230 but my son just got his to go through a few minutes ago. Took about 30 minutes and 6 tries.
Another thing. I just remembered. When we first tried to log him on, we would just get that spinning wheel and nothing would happen. We completely shut the PS4 down and restarted it. Then we logged in and tried a few times to sign him in. Seemed like every time it went a little further. Finally it went through. Takes some persistence but it'll come round.

Thank you! Restarted console and was able to sign in.

I don't get how they're having server problems so easily. How many PS4s were realistically sold already, a million or less? Out of 80 million PS3s there has to be at least a few million using it at once every day and there's no problem.

Why am I not surprised? This has been one area of concern for me after seeing how Sony's online infrastructure worked for the duration of the PS3. Every time there was high volume the servers would freeze up. And yes, I will be just as critical if this happens on the XBox One.

My thoughts exactly. When a new CoD game comes out millions of people jump on MP and while the servers occasionally stutter, I've never had any major issues with not being able to get on.

yes but requiring every user to download a 300mb download upon startup is murdering the servers-

True but you probably have to factor in those ps3 and vitas too.

Normal launch day stress

No. Microsoft routinely serves up magnitudes more content online. Think Windows and it's corresponding updates, think things like new versions of IE or MS Office or Visual Studio. Think Office 365. Think Hotmail.

I expect any issues to be negligible at best.

I'm ok with not being able to play online, but I don't want to start a game without my psn profile. I am sad beyond reason =(

I was unable to login from 12:20a until about 2:30a this morning. After that I kept being informed that PSN was down for maintenance. Tried again about 30mins ago and things were much better.

Kept repeating to myself "Things will get better" but it is still a hard pill to swallow having that be the first experience with the console.

Things will get better... Right!?

Have had no problem updating to 1.50, then downloading and installing the games, updating FIFA and playing online multiplayer.
Accessing the store, trophies, friends, messaging and even broadcasting some knack gameplay to a friend who didn't get a PS4 yet through Twitch!
So basically I tried every single online feature and all is fine!

Don't most new games have at least a 300 mb day one patch? Plus the number of digital downloads on day one? It still shouldn't cause server issues. The only thing I can think of is that they are stressed because they split servers between PS3 and PS4 and didn't allocate enough for PS4. I assume this is possible because I just went on PS3 and got on PSN not problem.

I'm just happy to know it wasn't just me.

At any rate, all I had time to do was get my console unboxed, hooked up and at least setup (the initial wizard). Since I work with a bunch of guys who were all talking about the PS4 release, if I called out of work sick, they'd all know I was lying through my teeth. I wouldn't get in trouble per say, but I know my boss wouldn't be impressed.
