Sony PSP 3000 announced (Mic/Better screen) - Compare in Post #245 WOW

Sold by that pic.. looks like I'll get a third PSP.

Gotta see if it can be open firmwared, though.. and no I don't warez games.

Rather than it merely being that ghosting has probably been reduced, they were *able* to create an image of little ghosting due to the increased response speed. Fairly big difference I believe. :D

I have very little doubt that CFW will be on the PSP-3000 shortly after release. The people who crack the systems are tenacious little bastards who could get past any wall Sony, or anyone else tries, tries to stop them with.

I do hope they do it quickly so I don't have to be playing games in 222 mhz for too long.

Yea, OK. Back to topic though. Damn this is extremely tempting guess this PSP is going to craigslist.
 
That looks good but I'm not sure if I play my PSP enough to justify getting another, improved one. I'm not even sure if I even own a game that has bad ghosting effects. What are some of the major offenders?

In my experience, colorful 2D sprite-based games seem to have it the worst.

I believe both of the GTA games had pretty bad ghosting.

I had a PSP Phat (CFW and all) but I sold it a while back. I was going to bite on a PSP Slim just last week but I decided to wait since rumors were going around.

Thank goodness I did! 4GB Memory Stick Pack with Black PSP-3K DAY ONE. (Why November Sony :( )

It'll be hacked eventually...just like everything else. I'm not worried about that right now though.

Damn that screen looks good.
 
I was looking at the comparison, thinking that the comparison was damn stupid because there was glare on one of the PSPs... when it hit me :lol Damn, I'll have to get one of those in the near future.
 
Amazing improvement, very nice. Plastic shell seems to have less glare too, probably helps hide fingerprints.
 
Wow, big difference in the contrast in the picture. I think all it will take is them to release it in some unique color and I'll pick one up.

Hey, not a problem at all, just figured I'd lend a hand with something I'm a little familiar with. Just gotta be careful with translations as those reading them will usually assume they are fact regardless of how much you know. :D
 
Glare has been one of my biggest complaints about the hardware - but I'm really happy for Sony regardless as it shows that they aren't backing off on the PSP. I already have a Slim but this looks so bloody tempting.
 
a lot of people are wary of these model revisions, but i'm concerned that they aren't revising the psp ENOUGH.

i mean, if they changed enough on the 3000 for the better, i would have bought it. they should really go for it when they do this kind of thing. no harm in taking inspiration from the yearly ipod revisions, i guess.
 
As a PSP 1000 owner jumping straigthly to PSP 3000 is a really tempting situation.... yum yum... but in the end I don't want to spend 200€ to buy the same thing again so that money will go in new games.
But this new model will definetly keep sales high for the system, in Japan it will be crazy with PSP 3000 + FF Dissidia this December.

I'm confused.

Does the bottom screen look better BECAUSE it doesn't reflect glare, or because of the higher contrast, or both?
 
Since I watch a lot of movies on the PSP the new LCD will justify my purchase, but I would be excited if they included Bluetooth DUN support so I could tether to my cellular phone for highspeed internet; fuck a WiFi hotspot... Also 20GB of onboard memory would have been perfect; fuck a memory stick...

If anyone has not tried it yet the SD movies from the PSN look great on the PSP and rentals are supported. This new LCD is icing on the cake regarding PSN video downloads; they just need to get the price point right on rentals and purchases...

I have little doubt that when it's all said and done, another revision will happen

Indeed! :P In fact I won't buy it (although I'd really like to have it) because it's better to spend the money in new things.
And in couple of years Sony will start talking about PSP 2 ;)

Well, if that's the case, the PSP-3000 is a must-buy even for those of us who already have a PSP-2000.

Holy shit, the difference in screen quality between the PSP-2000 and PSP-3000 is incredible. I may finally return to the "dark side" of handheld gaming this fall (it's been over two years since I last owned a PSP)...

$%$#%#$% Sony..I just bought the Star Wars Bundle 2 months ago, and now I see the obvious screen quality with this one, compared to the old one and makes me think I threw $180 down the drain :(...might just ebay my Star Wars Bundle and buy this new one.
 
I would buy the new PSP if there was a price drop accompanied by it, while the screen does look nice (it would be even more impressive compared to a PSP-1000), the improvement for the PSP-3000 still doesn't push me to go out and buy it.

Maybe I will wait until PSP-4000 next year.
 
I think I'll pass, nothing here worth shelling out to replace my 2000 unless the screen is OLED or massively...
