Sony PSP 3000 announced (Mic/Better screen) - Compare in Post #245 WOW

Why can't Sony release the 3000 in a stand alone pack thats not black? I'd buy a silver 3000 stand alone with 4 gb memory. Help me Sony, I'm tired of my psp phat.

I might buy this...Still have my Day1 PSP but I use that as my custom firmware psp. I have a psp-2000 but its the FF7 Crisis Core model so I never use it. So I could use a new psp to use :lol

I think since the very start. It's only MJPEG with LPCM or µ-Law audio. It used to be that was the only way to get fullscreen video other than UMD Movies.
 
Why am I looking at carefully selected berry pictures instead of in game images?

Hopefully eb / gamestop has some sort of trade in program when this hits to lessen the blow to my poor wallet... I've only had a slim psp for two weeks :(

Unfortunately, they don't have the footnote that goes with that line on that page. The colors are "subject to region" basically, so no guarantee at all that we'll be seeing the white one over here. (Lord I hope so, but I don't at all expect it.)

Heh, I've sort of got that "PSP temptation" going on within me right now, but now that I see that the PSP-3000 model is clearly superior to the PSP-2000 I know it'll be worth waiting for it. :D
 
Well I'll be getting another psp. I guess I'll just put a custom firmware in my 2000 and make it a portable media player and the 3000 for my mobile gaming.

Yeah, just read that it might be a Europe and/or Japan only color.

Still no normal white psp for North America? WTF is with the systematic denial of this to us Sony? And just when I thought we were getting one it ended up having Darth Vader stenciled on it.

I HATE!!!!!!!!

If it looks like ceramic white, BUY BUY BUY!

I'll definitely be upgrading my launch PSP finally.

Hopefully the silver color will look good as I don't think I'll be getting another black one.

I am in the same boat as you and think the same way. I was actually thinking of getting one of the blue madden psps so this announcement came at the right time.

according to kotaku, only black and silver will be available in NA. Currently, White is only slated for Japan and Europe. Thats what I was crying about.

Its like someone at sony decided from the start that a plain white psp wouldnt sell over here and they have continued to refuse to release one.

Maybe one day they'll find the time to fix the PSP's real problem while they're doing these annual updates anyway. The analog knob that will give us all arthritis before age 40.

alright i was totally wrong. the difference is huge.

big enough that i won't be buying the next psp until like 5 years after it is released.

okay, this is stupid, the 2000 hasnt even been out for a year and there's a new version

sony better have a screen replacement plan or have the same screen connection there's an option to upgrade the screen
 
Fuuuuck, I'm glad I skipped on the slim, but still it's probably not worth buying a new one.
 
That's a nice-looking screen, I'll admit. But I'm not biting. I still feel screwed over on the last one. Give it FULL SCREEN TV out, and I'll grit my teeth and pay for a 3rd one. Otherwise, they can get lost.


Note: yes, I knew the 2000 didn't have full-screen TV out when I bought it. But I hate portables so much I bought it anyway. Beggars can't be choosers.

There is nothing wrong with continuous improvement.

Hopefully regular refreshes means PSP-4000 next year and PSP-5000 in two years.

Yup, unless there is a price drop in the future, I don't see myself buying another PSP model.

I wanted to get one of the 2000 when they came out, but then I didn't have the money and it seems it worked in my favor. I'll pick one up to replace my PSP if I have the money when they're out.... otherwise I'll keep playing my old one.
