Is anyone else going for a full Law/Life build? This should be interesting...
I am trying to go full Law but from what I gather it's not possible later on since you're forced to sacrifice?

How viable is going full light?
Played the demo and didn't enjoy it one bit. Glad I didn't preorder.
Eh, not really enjoying this, played the first three missions, just seems like a short fetch quest game, and unlike MonHun, the monsters you need to find are right in front of you, no big sprawling map.
I'll have to see how it does review wise, but personally, if you gave this to me today and said it's the final copy, of the first 3 missions and story plot, I'd prolly go 5ish.
I'll play it some more and see if it sticks, but after all that hype I feel a bit let down.
Your whole save file, so probably everything. What do you actually get to keep from the demo to the full game? Your levels? Items?
Dash canceling in a hunting action game? Definitely not the right game for you. I'd say that other than boss fights and loot, committing to action is one of the most common traits for the genre. You mistime something, you pay for it.Not really seeing it either. It's all next-gen browns and greys, combat is janky and doesn't pack a punch, you can't even dash cancel (I tried it a couple of times, though), and the music is so bland it's like it isn't even there. It's not my cup of tea at all.
Yep, all that. But your levels max out at 10/10 in the demo, I believe, and the magic you can get is only a really small subset. What do you actually get to keep from the demo to the full game? Your levels? Items?
And here I thought I was the only one!

I guess certain monsters have elemental weaknesses as well.
This isnt going to play like a stylish action game. Its a hunting action game with a strong focus on magic and story.
EDIT: Is there ad-hoc as well as online?
You meanWow, so the game felt really easy until I got to the last fight (or what I assume to be the last fight before the multi opens up). I hate that homing shock move and I can't believe how far the boss's ice attack travels when it's charged up.
You mean? I thought that was the easiest boss. I got through it in well under 2 minutes by spamming that blood cannon and ice sword spell.Sortiara
I didn't want to draw comparisons but, you can actually dash cancel in Phantasy Star Online 2. And I found the combat very similar to that. The combat isn't my biggest issue with it, though. The whole presentation is not pleasing to me at all, I couldn't stand Demon's/Dark Souls for the same reason. I need happy cheery rainbow colors and blue blue skies in my games, LOL.
I only used it for that one mission. Lock into the boss and go crazy with those two spells. I didn't lose a single point of health either.Hmm, I never use the blood cannon. I should try that out.
The fucking music
The fucking atmosphere
The fucking story/lore
Oh my fucking god
Seriously, I don't get how people don't like the music. It fits perfectly and I love it.
Played it a little today, VA isn't bad, but it could have been better. I already understand the basics of the game, but I still don't understand what's the cost of using spells (apart from the ones that take HP). On the other hand, the graphics are really good, and so is the art direction.
Demo was enjoyable. Loved the atmosphere and VA. Controls were responsive. I struggled at the last part since I tried to save instead of sacrifice.
I feel like this is one of those rare games that I can play however I want when it comes to leveling, and still do alright. So far, so good with just magic damage.
I agree. I also died on one of the early ones and chose to sacrifice myself. The AI killed the creature and the level ended. Thought that was different. I'm still a little lost on how the setup of magic/attack works. Is the only way to reuse an attack is to find that attack again? I'm kind of curious as to what happens if all your attacks run out.
The cost is nothing. Every spell has a set number of charges (uses), which you can see by going to the upgrade menu. If you exhaust those charges it can break, and then you'll have to spend tears to repair it. You can refill those charges by sacrificing monsters or objects around the level, but they're refilled for free when you finish the stage (provided it isn't broken).
Do you hate the slow combat of Monster Hunter? The combat in this game is really fast.
use tears in load out menu to remove black rite effectsGot it... just sacrificed, are the effects of Black Rites permanent? (defense halved, in this case) Also, how do I use picked up objects to refill the charge count?the harpy
