[speculation-Age] What's Nintendo got up their sleeve for E3?

Mother 1,2, and 3 for DS.

Yep.

I expect the announcement/confirmation of five or so core game for release through the end of this fiscal year from Nintendo. I also expect about the same number of casual-friendly titles to include Animal Crossing, Wii Motorsports, and Wii Music.

The major trend I'll be looking hard for, though, is the announcement, by third parties, of Wii iterations of their previously thought PS360 exclusive titles. We've already seen it with Activision's new Bond game, Star Wars: Force Unleashed, NCAA 09, and been rumored for Bioshock 2. I expect the press releases to casually throw in that there are now Wii versions of many big titles. The Wii won't get exclusives, but it will get the games. ;)

- Better SD card functionality
- Ability to use USB HD drives
To shut up the whiners
- Disaster: Day of Crisis with bear attack action
- Kid Icarus, now a top down shooter
- Kirby Wii
- Wii fit
- Wiiware
- More awesome DS games that should have been on the Wii
- A bunch of casual games people will complain about
- A handful of hardcore games that they'll hardly talk about and don't promote
- A new line of 2D Wiiware Mario, kirby, and Zelda games.
- Reggie admitting that NOA has handled the VC poorly and promises to do better

- An updated DS without the GBA cart and with inbuilt RAM for the new...
- Demo Channel - That will let you play Wii & DS demos, plus allowing you to buy the new...
- GBA / GB VC releases. The DS RAM capability will also work into...
- Animal Crossing Wii & DS for this Christmas, where you can share the game between both consoles, saving a chunk onto the RAM in the new DS.

- Oh, and don't forget the DS iPhone...

sure, it's all fantasy, but it'd be pretty great...

Under their coat they have this on.

I say they do Animal Crissing Wii, Will have some thing with it that hypes a online game with a depth of interaction.

I suspect we'll see a lot of third party announcements. Don't be surprised if Nintendo holds their Fall 08 lineup close to their chest in favor of giving third party projects the limelight.

You know..thank the heavens that Wii Fit is already out..

You know how RAM traditionally works, rite? :P You shut down the device and it gets wiped :(

I'm going out on a limb here:

Another New Super Mario Bros. for Wii with downloadable levels and content.

A real storage solution for Wii
Animal Crossing for NA/EU in 2008
Kid Icarus
At least one Wii game that utilises the balance board
Wii Sports 2
Mario Party 9

Perhaps a 'social networking' kind of scenario, but Nintendofied so you can only talk to people on your friends list from a selection of 3 phrases.

Cool!
Uncool...
Hey!

DS:

New Mario platformer
Daigasso! Band Brothers DX
Paper Mario DS
Brain Age-type game from Nintendo
SSBDS (lol rite?)
New Touch! Generations game (with a ton of potential)
Elite Beat Agents 2 (lol rite?)
Pokémon Ranger 2
Mother Compilation (lol rite?)
Freshly Picked - Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland (lol rite?)
Metroid Dread (:lol rite?)
Metroid Prime Hunters 2 (unfortunately rite :((()
Nintendogs 2 (not necessarily a full sequel, could be a new version, but one that adds more than previous versions)
Some kind of franchise pinball game (Kirby, Metroid, Mario, whatever)

Wii:

New Mario sports title
Pilotwings
Pikmin 3
King Story
Custom Robo Wii
Yoshi's Island 3
F-Zero Wii (that or F-Zero DS, not both)
Kid Icarus (could be on DS, but I think that they'd want to make a big impact with a Kid Icarus revival)
Star Fox Wii
Famicom Tantei Club Remake (either on Wii or DS)
1080 Snowboarding Wii
Wave Race Wii

Most of this are huge leaps of hope, with a handful I truly expect (namely Pikmin 3, Star Fox Wii, Pokémon Ranger 2, and Paper Mario DS).

EDIT: In response to a comment of "a new DS w/o a GBA slot", I'm certain that a few people would be upset, namely the developers of Guitar Hero: On Tour, whose game would be rendered unplayable on those new systems.

EDIT 2: I forgot, I expect a mini-game compilation game that uses the Wii Balance Board. Either an original title or Mario Party 9 and/or a WarioWare sequel.

I wouldn't get my hopes up because even if there are plenty of announcements the vast majority will likely be crap (Game Party 2, Petz 3, Resident Evil spin off edition, etc)

Going further with the new DS with inbuilt RAM, it could even open up games for DSWare...
And an inbuilt browser...
And a multi touch wide screen...
with no divider in the middle...
Could happen...

But probably at E3 09

Perhaps they'll make it with a new proprietry expansion slot thats much smaller... Then you can just rebuy all your classic GBA games on the GB Channel or games on DSWare... Hmmm...

Miyamoto should make a real Yoshi's Island 2 and put it on Wii Ware.

Pretty sure after that I'd be able to die a happy death.

DS with inbuilt RAM, eh? Maybe with a built-in processor as well, who knows?

-Pikmin Colonies (EAD) Wii
-Star Fox Climax (Treasure) Wii
-New Super Mario Bros. 2 (EAD) NDS
-F-Zero DX (EAD) NDS
-Metroid Dread (SPD/IntSys) NDS
-Earthbound Chronicles (Ape/HAL/B2B) NDS
-Legend of Zelda: Four Sword Story (EAD) WiiWare

...plz?

That would still be of inconvenience to them. You think Activision will want to deal with Nintendo after they forced them to make more accessories so Nintendo could make more money.

There's no point whatsoever in removing the GBA slot. It would make the DS Browser impossible to use, GHOT impossible to play, no rumble (however weak it was), etc.

Threads like these only set up for serious bitter tears and disappointment when the actual announcements come.

Last year wasn't half bad.
Keynote: Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit
Press pack: Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (localization), Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, Endless Ocean (localization), Master of Illusion (localization), Professor Layton (localization), Nintendo Crossword, Picross DS (localization), Flash Focus (localization), Chibi-Robo (localization), possibly Brain Age 2's localization, I can't remember.

That's with no third parties, and as we've seen over the last year Nintendo seems to be taking a slightly more active role in showcasing third party stuff.

... this year we know even less about their upcoming lineup for either platform and they have a huge backlog of unlocalized DS titles.

For the Wii:
First Party:
Mario Party 9
Wii Music
Animal Crossing
Disaster
Kirby

Third party:
FFCC Crystal Bearers (will be renamed FFXIII)
Megaman 3D game
Castlevania game (make it happen itakagi)
Chrono game (Monolith doing it with an scenario created by Horii)
Tales of Symphonia 2

For the DS:
First Party:
Paper Mario DS
Pikmin
F-zero
Soma Bringer
Pokemon Lapis Lazuli
EBA 2
Earthbound 3 +

Third Party:
Final Fantasy IV
Dragon Quest IV
Tales of Innocence
Sonic RPG
Guitar Hero
Lots of crap and shovelware

Some games I hope! What I hope/think might be announced :

Wii Music
Disaster
Pikmin 3
SOMETHING NEW (just hoping...)

I don't think they'll announce a new DS model yet, the platform is doing great and has still some huuuuuuge legs, but time will tell.

Wii Sports 2, available in October for $20-30 with all the sports they didn't have in the first one.
Animal Crossing Wii
Kid Icarus
New Super Mario Bros 2 (DS)
Mario Superstar Baseball (which will sadly look about as bad as it did a couple weeks ago)
Wide variety of WiiWare games based off Nintendo licenses
Wii Music
Kirby Wii (or some other HAL Laboratory game)
Mario Party 9, now with Balance Board control! (still developed by Hudson)
US version of Itadaki Street DS

Maybe more. Who knows?

They're pretty much set on the DS side with just localizations and dates for stuff we know. Maybe the third pokemon game will be announced, but honestly that should come a bit earlier than E3.

The Wii has AC and Music at least, with dates on some stuff. I bet we'll see quite a bit more though.

Prepare for disappointment and embarrassment, kids.

True, but that didn't stop GAF from having an epic meltdown after the conference ended (especially after mainstream outlets declared Nintendo winner of E3).

We had an epic meltdown because Nintendo bungled the fucking press conference bigtime. Immediately afterwards when the press kit dropped, people were much happier. I started the thread, actually :lol

What the hell happened to Panther? He didn't used to be so negative and depressing.

lol wii housecleaning would actually do well in japan, do go giving them ideas
Nintendo made a vacuum before. In fact it was featured in Warioware. :D

Just make one that uses the Wiimote. :lol

You get banned enough times for being an enthusiast that contributes too often and watch trollocs run the show for long enough and it gets to ya. That and the realization that we'll never see my favorite 3rd party exclusives make the downgrade and that I'll have to buy an overpriced monolith.

Making banners would cheer me up though.

I expect to be entertained!

DS: a monstrous backlog of unlocalized DS titles to make an appearance, among new announcements for 1st/2nd/3rd party titles.

Wii: fuck if I know ;)

And PantherLotus, your enthusiasm is much appreciated, as are your graphs etc.

What about shamelessly complimenting your graphs?

my prediction: mario kart and SSB will mark the end of nintendo's regular strategy - that of just rolling out the updated hits, the garuanteed blockbusters - and now is Phase Two, where there'll be more Wii Fits and Brain Trainings. like, these are going to go waaay into the nongaming territory, way past the hardcore crowd's comfort level.

there will be some "core games" but they'll mostly be new IPs. that Disaster game, and others. (i don't know why the hell kid icarus keeps coming up. ppl speculate that EVERY TIME e3 pops up and it NEVER comes.)

Monster Hunter 3 is awesome news for me:D
Anw they sure got stuff up their sleeves and they just dont want to show it anytime soon. Ya know, to prevent copycat. New IP will be nice.
