[speculation-Age] What's Nintendo got up their sleeve for E3?

I'm not really sure what we'll see, but I'm pretty sure Pikmin 3 isn't an '08 title, so we probably won't see even an hint of it until TGS.

I'm expecting Kid Icarus, Animal Crossing and Kirby for Wii.

I'm expecting Soma Bringer and maybe Card Hero to get localized.

Wii Music will probably make an appearance. Maybe Wii Motorsports/Pilotwings.

There'll be one new major DS announcement that'll be a surprise. Not sure what it'll be though, hence the surprise.

I expect sales numbers and patting their own back.

Everything Nintendo shows at E3 will be scheduled to release in 2008. Some will be pushed back to Q1 2009. If there's an F-Zero, it'll be the DS version, with the Wii version a 2010 title. No way is Nintendo going to show the next Zelda yet. After the agony of showing TP for, what, 3 E3s in a row?, not gonna happen, they'll wait until they're farther along in development. NSMB2 is pretty unlikely, an outside possibility at best. Mother Compilation is an impossible dream. Star Fox is a maybe, but probably a 2009 title, meaning it won't be at E3. No Wii Sports 2, there won't be a real sequel to Wii Sports this console generation, Nintendo will choose to expand into different types of Wii ___ titles rather than sequelizing one. I'd give Punch-Out a 50/50 chance of making an appearance. I'm not willing to make any predictions with regards to 3rd party stuff. I'm not even sure Nintendo will show 3rd party stuff at their conference, but we'll probably hear about it afterwards.

How come no one guesses the obvious titles that are coming?

Hana Montana
High School Musical
misc Nick Toons
misc cartoon licensed games.

Because Nintendo doesn't make those games and they're shovelware crap that's out already anyways?

There has to be at least one new shell or casual add-on based game.

I mean last year we had Wii Wheel, Balance board and the Wii Zapper.

This year I'm guessing-

ROB 2...or some robotic cuddly toy that links up o to the Wii (perhaps streaming voice and movement to it)

or

Some weird voice chat thing.

or

Marionette the puppet game finally turns up and it comes with a cross control bar shell (like the control used for a real strung puppet).

2. Wii will get a price drop, to $229 (very possible...I think it's time).

Yeah, this makes no sense whatsoever.

The thing just sold over 700,000 units last month. You still can't find it in stores almost 18 months after launch.

rehashes upon rehashes upon rehashes. a bunch of shitty casual games. I think 3rd party games will start getting good though. I have high hopes for Fragile, MH3, and fatal frame 3. their DS lineup might be good as well.

I think Fatal Frame 3 will probably wind up with a 7.8 from IGN and a 7.6 from Gamespot.

Seriously though, Fragile is gonna be shit, and MH3 will only appeal to fans of the franchise. The only good third party thing for the Wii would be an honest attempt at a RE game from Capcom or the surfergirl-rumored 'epic' exclusive from Ancel's studio.

Yeah, because it suddenly just occurred to them that the Wii mote would probably work well with the game.

No, because they don't have unlimited resources and Miyamoto practicaly confirmed recently that they were still experimenting with Pikmin. You don't go from design to actual game in 6 months.

there've been a lot of good 3rd party outings for wii, they just haven't been really 'high profile' (endless ocean, geometry wars, trauma center)

i'm pretty sure there're going to quite a few at e3 and 08 will see even more good stuff. just no megatons

Nintendo or major third party will have a game taking advantage of that faux-3D thing that asian guy made.

Apparently EA dropped it from their game.

I meant coming up. Of course I forgot the troubled Crystal Chronicles game. That may turn out to be the best of the bunch, sadly (if the Ancel thing isn't true).

Where did you hear this?

Metroid Prime 1 & 2 remakes for wiimote.

This better be true. Better yet they could make a controller plugin for it. Let´s hope they figure it out. I bought both the Call of Duty games for the Cube and didn´t like the controls. It would be much better with a Wiitroller plugin.

I think that whatever Nintendo has upon their sleeve will be revealed at the TGS. The reduced and nerfed E3 will probably just recieve a new "disaster: day of the crisis" trailer, a new DS redesing (perhaps) and more bragging about wiifit sales and expanded audience (for sure).

However, if we are talking about upcoming projects in general, I think that they could end up showing up this year:
- A new Kid Icarus game
- An Animal crossing Wii MMORPG
- A metroid dread game for Wii Ware
- A huge third party RPG exclusive (my bets are on Kingdom Hearts)

I predict that you guys will be dissapointed. I can see it happenign this way.

* Beginning of show: Reggie comes up and will have little talk about Wii's succes. He will joke arround abou last year's E3 show en promisses no youtube vids. Hur hur.
* Then he will blab about that Wii enters it's second phase and the casuals will flock to more traditional games. Being shown:
- Mario Super Sluggers
- Mario Party 9
- Animal Crossing
- 1080 Balanceboard

Then their will be a comment about publishers, who are bunch of wienies. Reggie says mature content can sell on Wii. Shows video of Deadly Creatures, Fatal Frame IV, Red Steel 2 and... uhh Disaster Day of Crisis. Maybe a surprsie announcent about mature games.

Maybe a few things about japanese third parties, a surprise or two.

Then Kid Icarus is officialy announced. End E3 '08.

You are sad.

after unlocking Mii in Mariokart, I quickly realised that one of their future games is going to be some kind of large project, staring 'Mii'.

Nintendo does not attend the TGS, so I think there might be a hole in your theory.

For the sake of my wallet, I hope they announce nothing.

I've got too many DS games to play this year, plus I still need to re-purchase a Wii and get SSBB + Mario Kart, and on top of that, I'm looking to buy an HDTV set, along with an HD console to complement it.

So ffs, Nintendo, skip this year's E3

Kid Icarus, according to the IGN guys, should be there. I wasn't the biggest fan of the original, so I wouldn't get worked up if this proved fake or scrapped.

Retro's new game, Animal Crossing Wii, Pikmin 3 and some sort of Wii Music/Sport game should be there in some capacity, too.

Games from EAD Tokyo (presuming they're not working on the next Mario title already), Aonuma's team (probably working on next Zelda) and Intelligent Systems are an outside chance of being announced. I'd be surprised if there's any mention of F-Zero or Star Fox, but depending on the team behind it, that may be a pleasant one. Factor 5 are also supposed to be working on something for the Wii.

For DS, it would be nice to get some blockbuster sequels in the Metroid Dread or NSMB2 vein. I doubt something as epic as Mother 1, 2 and 3 or Star Tropics will emerge, but Kirby, Paper Mario DS, etc would be nice as well. And how could I forget Fire Emblem DS? Can't wait!

There'll probably be a surprise or two, maybe a big third party game? (Hopefully Nintendo won't think Red Steel 2 covers this)

Pikmin 3 in 2008? Forget it. Best case is that its a 09 title, if not 2010. Pikmin 3 probably just started development.
lol just started? If its planned its likely been in the work for some time

Lots of assumptions here. Not saying that I disagree with the logic (they have to have something for Christmas, right?!), but it's a flawed logic indeed. You're basically saying that because they released 3 franchise games and you like them, that they couldn't have done that without something "incredible" coming up and that you're pretty sure you'll love it? I mean, you're thinking this rather than them nabbing some incredible 3rd-party exclusive, coasting on WiiFit's success, or something else as equally flawed?

I'm all for pimpin the banners and the franchise love but jesus that's some blind enthusiasm right there man. You have no freaking idea how much these people can disappoint you.

I'm not sure that it'll be to my tastes. For all I know, they've got a crapload of nongames coming up for Christmas (still unlikely, though. If that were the case brawl and mario kart would be more removed from each other). What I do know is that they'e got to have something that will appeal to a lot of people, or else they wouldn't have been releasing those games that appeal to a lot of people so early. If a lot of people like it, there's a good chance I'll like it as well :D

Wii Music
Disaster: Day of Crisis (already released?)

Nintendo does not attend the TGS as an expositor, but they have gave several conferences on it, many of them filled with important announcements.

It's like you studied all of their past E3 performances, went with the lowest common denominator, and then created a prophetic mold by which they'll operate next month.

Seriously though, this a good layout for what's to come.

I want to get a SHIT LOAD more, but lord knows, Nintendo never drops everything awesome all at once.

some sort of epic rpg, at least somewhat traditional in general structure. hopefully turn-based and controlled with only the remote. it's the most glaring hole in the lineup still.

a flying game. it could work great with the controller, it's accessible and generally appealing, and no one has done it really well yet on the system.

at least one new ip with aaa production values, and a strong appeal to "core" gamers.

Matsuno's new project. :(

And don't fucking taunt me with this. Seriously. My nethers would explode if they even mentioned the guy's name at the conference.

Whatever he's working on is the only thing that I'd rank even, in terms of my interest level, with Team ICO's next.
