There will be crow eaten by many when this movie is released. Glorious, delicious crow.

Looks like everyone's friendly neighborhood web slinger has been been placed on indefinite hold said an inside source exclusively to the IESB today.

Apparently, several department heads working on the SPIDER-M4N production were notified of the halt last Thursday. Spidey and friends have some issues that need to be dealt with before production can move forward once again. Oh, and the film is known as SPIDER-M4N within the production offices so take note! Who wants to be the first to start the trending topic on Twitter #SPIDER-M4N?

An inside source working on the project tells IESB that there are some major issues director Sam Raimi is dealing with that include an incomplete script. And why is the script incomplete? Looks like Raimi and the studio heads at Sony Pictures can't agree upon a villain for the film.

Yeah, read the news earlier. Bullshit if you ask me. Why cant they trust Raimi after he knocked it out of the park with Spidey 1 and 2? Must they interfere again as they did in Spidey 3.

Perhaps Marvel should do a huge push ASAP on Vulture in Spider Man comics to appease Raimi. And who knows, if Raimi walks then Brett Ratner can come in and "save" the franchise just like he "saved" X-Men.

Because Sony seem to think they know best for whatever reason. Spidey3 made a BUTTLOAD of money in spite of Sony's meddling.

Oh my :(

Are we really playing this game again? REALLY? Jesus, just walk away, Raimi. Sony once again proving they dont know shit about why S-M1 and S-M2 were big hits. If this is true, I think Im done with the franchise, since we'll just be headed for a S-M3 redux.

Nope! No Carnage. No Mysterio. No Reptile. No Kraven. No Kingpin. None of the cool bad guys. No, we get the fucking vulture of all ppl

It's hard to put in a bad guy that doesn't exist.

It feels to me more like a compromise to fit Hathaway into the film, instead of fitting another actress into the role (and costume) of Felicia Hardy. Honestly, after giving it a few minutes thought, I can't think of a single Spidey-supporting cast member that she'd actually fit.

Doesn't the Hathaway news sound even more like Sony trying to squeeze in a box office draw into the film, rather than just letting Raimi do what he wants?

I want Vulture
I want Electro
I want Black Cat to be Black Cat.

I do think you can vary from the comics without destroying the movie, if the writing is good enough. Let the studio shut down the film and make the right decisions now, rather than trying to justify another SM3 after the fact.

I would blame the fans who keep asking for Carnage & other McFarlane 90s villains. Those are the guys Sony is trying to cater to.

Motherfuckers...

Well, I guess Ill just continue loving Spider-Man 2 and forget the rest of the series even exists :_(

That reminds me, I need to get S-M2 on Bluray.

If there is any justice in this world Disney will force Sony and Fox to quit butchering their newly owned property! Marvel Studios has been doing things right and with Disneys muscle they can somehow get these IP's back.

Sony does know better. Venom done RIGHT would have been leagues better than Uncle Ben killer Sandy, and it's morphin time Gobby. I want a reboot and Raimi out.

Spiderman 1: $821,708,551 world wide gross
Spiderman 2: $783,766,341 world wide gross
Spiderman 3: $890,871,626 world wide gross

Unfortunately, despite their meddling on the third movie it ultimately made the most money.

Which is again a testament that the mass audience doesnt care about quality. I dont really blame Sony in this. I mean, whats the motivation to make a great film when you can easily make a mediore one and still see increased returns?

I think SM3's gross is a testament to how many people loved SM2, more than anything else.

That accounts for the (then) record setting opening weekend, no doubt. But to hit $900M WW, the movie had to have some legs. Which means there were LOTS people out there giving it positive word of mouth and repeat business.]

smh @ people

I read somewhere that the villains are going to be Mysterio and Lizard.
They even gave actors names but I don't remember them.
Don't know if it's true.

Tell to go suck a dick and go make Warcraft Raimi.

You made Spider Man 2.

Spider Man 2.

Yeah hopefully Disney's muscle will allow Marvel to get their shit back.

The thing is, while its the best superhero movie (eat it, BB/TDK!
(very close seconds)
), it made the least money. So Im sure in Sony's fucking warped mind, that means they shouldnt try to make another one like that.

Its so easy to redeem the series and make another great one. Just follow the template of 2. Sony is so fucking dumb.

It's time to let Spidey go, Solo. Batman 3 is going to begin revving up in 2010, we could use more of your kind.

Spidey 2 is not even close to TDK. I mean seriously, he lost his powers because he stopped believing. It's just that coming off of the campfest that was the first Spider-man, 2 was leaps and bounds better.

Attack my opinion all you like, but as an overall experience, S-M2 remains untopped to me. TDK may be more ambitious, BB may be better acted, X2 may have better action, but the complete package and the intangibles put Spidey 2 the top for me.

Fair enough. I guess I can sympathize with that since I was the only person in my friend group who enjoyed Spider-Man 1 more than X-men 1.

So what's going on in this thread? I see people have irrational, high hopes for a Sony/Raimi Spider-Man film.

:lol

Spiderman 2 has a relatable character that goes through an "identity crisis" much like every young man goes in his 20s, for short or long time periods.

Spiderman 2 also delivers the best choreographed and shot, super hero action sequences in a movie yet, with the Train sequence being the very best super hero sequence since Superman vs Zod and his two sidekicks in Superman II.

It's also funny! And the relationship between the two main protagonists actually is believable, and actually exists!

Batman was always incapable of delivering on that last bit. That's why they recast and then killed that bitch.

Yay

Preach, Wrika! We disagree on all things Bond/Bourne, but it appears we have a common love in S-M2.

Its the opposite. We just learned that Spider-Man 4 is Spider-Man 3 Part 2.

It's happening again! It's happening all over again! :lol

Spider-man 1 was great. Spider-man 2 was perfection. Spider-man 3 was a steaming pile of shit. Why? Because of you, Sony Pictures! You didn't let Raimi do what he wanted, and it sucked. You want the franchise to stay alive? Then stop shitting it up and let the director make his movie. Drag Me to Hell was great. Stop fucking with Sam so he can continue to deliver.

he needs to facepalm over to a new studio and let Sony deal with finding someone who will make their shitty movies for them.

This will definitely be his last Spider-Man movie. He and Tobey are only doing this one because Sony threw them too much money to turn down.

I wonder though, does this signify Saturday Night Fever Parker 2: Electric Bugaloo?

*shrug* From what I've seen of Spider-Man 3, it wasn't much worse than the other two. Whole franchise blows.

Hopefully since that was the only thing I enjoyed about 3.

It has nothing to do with that, really. It came off two critically acclaimed movies, one of which was a sequel almost everyone loved, and Spider-Man 3 still has a fresh rating at RottenTomatoes overall. On top of that, the villain was the bad guy people most wanted to see in the films.

People talk shit about it now, even a casual audience. But coming off of Spider-Man 2 and the fact that it had Venom? Everyone wanted to see it. The movie held so much promise and failed to deliver in almost every way.

My girlfriend IMed me saying she was watching it on FX last night so I turned it on. We spent an hour and a half basically making fun of the movie. :lol

His emo hair, the dance (to quote her, "I feel embarrassed for Tobey right now"), the awkward/embarrassing Aunt May speech, , the almost creepy and insanely stupid butler talking to Harry, the fucking completely unrealistic and unnecessary news reporters at the end, etc. Everything was stupid.

The only two great scenes in the movie are when Sandman first comes together (that music mixed with the CGI sand trying to put itself back together was really well done) and the Harry vs. Peter fight at the end which was pretty brutal.

There is the problem though. Im not a comic book reader, so I dont particularly care what villains they use either way. But up to that point I did have complete faith that Raimi and Sony knew what they were doing when choosing the S-M1 and 2 baddies. But as we all know, Raimi didnt want Venom or New Goblin for S-M3, he wanted Vulture and Sandman. To me, the movie was doomed from that point on. When the director's heart isnt in it, or if hes carrying a major grudge/chip on his shoulder against the studio, you get something like S-M3, which was basically Sam saying fuck you to Sony.

Of course, the joke was on Sam since the movie still made shittons.
